The ending of this one actually made me tear up. Gordon was lost in the dark. Depressed. But through helping the puppets, he found the light. I think that’s just really sweet. His ending quote hit me right in the heart.
god this game is a masterpiece. i didn't expect something of this style to portray a message so relevant and meaningful, and yet it never clashed with itself. ricky's speech about "we teach them how to be friendly, and they don't like it because they're not friendly" is something that totally surprised me in a very good way. i'm so impressed
Agree 100%. An indie horror thay is set in the 80s and about puppets is the last game I expected to have relevant political commentary, but here it was. Amd it was woven into the story surprisingly well
@@bradydavidson89 I know right? I just thought it would be some frivolous fun, I didn't expect to be crying over the story of the corruption of childhood innocence and the onset of vicious corporate Capitalism, and mourning my own mother's childhood in that era as her father was a traumatized Vietnam vet who struggled with depression and addiction. The creators are BRILLIANT.
I feel like I'm missing something with this game, and it's driving me crazy lol. Is there a good breakdown on this somewhere, or would someone care to elaborate? Maybe its just a matter of taste or maybe some personal issue but I feel so patronized during Ricky's speech. I loved all the hearfelt moments with the puppets you help, but I kept waiting for a big horror drop or more elaborate plot and instead I just got that speech and some simple bizarro puppets and then that's it the end. Some of it is misplaced expectations I'm aware, but am I wrong in being so frustrated?
@@Mel-sn5dl Basically if you pay attention to certain snippets of dialogue and the papers scattered around, you start to piece together the story in the background. The Vietnam War was a vicious and terrible war, 18 and 19 year old boys were drafted and sent to a jungle in a foreign country and suffered immensely, and then when they came home, the media and the public spit on them and called them monsters when the real ones at fault were the billionaires and warhawk politicians that sent them there. The main character himself is strongly hinted to being a Vietnam vet. The puppet tv show was cancelled in the wake of the postwar period where the news cycle and tv shows were full of violence and negativity. Like Ricky's speech said, unfriendly and uncaring people don't want to learn about kindness and friendliness, they don't want to confront the darkness they've let consume them. The traumatized postwar generation combined with the growing power of corporations and corporate Capitalism over the country lead to a lot of trauma being passed down on the kids growing up during that time, being exposed to more harmful and negative content. The story here is that children should have silly compassionate and positive media to learn and be good humans, *and that includes the inner child of every adult who watches the show too.* The choice Gordon makes towards the end, when Ricky tells him "I KNOW deep down, you want to be friendly", to save the puppet show or leave, is about choosing to heal his inner child and allow himself some vulnerability, or walk away and let the trauma turn him into a closed off and unkind, unfriendly person. The puppets being alive I think isn't meant to be so literal but a representation of the vivid imaginations of children, and how the unkind and uncaring corporate suits and general public were trying to snuff it out, because their own imaginations were destroyed by trauma. There's this idea that because the world is an unkind, unsafe, cruel and hard place that we should bring up children in unkind ways to be "prepared" for it. I don't think that's true, not if we want to make the world better. If life isn't fair, we shouldn't teach children to be selfish, we should teach them about fairness to make the world more fair; if the world is unkind, teach them kindness to make the world even a little more kind, and so on. I think this story would probably mean more personally to people like my mom who grew up with a traumatized Vietnam vet father, but it does still hits home to me personally. These issues are real and have never gone away, and in some ways have become worse with the rise of the internet.
I imagine Evelyn minding her business in the kitchen or something when Jack says funny things really loud, like "DO YOUR ALPHABET SOMEWHERE ELSE" and she's like "what could he possibly be playing"
100% agreed. Especially in its genre. I remember getting into this game being very excited and expecting some deep and grim lore. But instead the game surprised and blew me away with it's sad backstory and wholesome message. It's one of these games I wish I could experience for the first time again.
Yeah. It’s not too scary to the point that I won’t want to watch the gameplay, but it’s scary enough for me to jump and then go back to rewatch the part that made me jump so I can see it clearer LMAO
@@oras7745 When it really comes down to it, dark and fascinating lore is what I actually enjoy about most horror games. Like Inscryption! Nothing about the game itself is really "horrifying" but it's lore is SO dark and deep
I love how the puppets in this one aren't evil or some experiment gone wrong. They're just over excited to have a human to interact with and try to be friends with again. So their 'attacks' are just them being over eager to be friends with Gordon
@@voidbreather7405 But the only ones that were actually violent were the ones in the UNfriendly Neighborhood. The rest of them were just overly excited or overwhelmed.
@@AylaMarine I mean, the regular Neighbors are still violent, even if they don't intend to be. Otherwise, Gordon wouldn't need those Health-o-Lax drinks after getting grabbed, shaken, and knocked down by them.
I like that we don’t get to see the scary looking messed up versions of the puppets until the end of the game. Unlike most mascot horror games that always make the scary designs known before the game gets played or at the beginning of the game. my friendly neighborhood, let you get used to the fright of getting chased by friendly, looking puppets, and changes it at the end, as a surprise factor, rather than its sole marketed purpose.
@@KkanonWhen you hover over the ammo, it shows you the amount in that stack next to the text. Plus, since each stack has 26 letters - one for each letter in the alphabet - you can also judge how much ammo is in a stack by the letter shown on top of it, (e.g., if it shows a 'x', then you know that the stack has three ammo left.) It is literally spelled out for you.
I've kinda grown tired of these "mascot horror" games but I genuinely can't describe how much of a breath of fresh air this one was. It's really cool to see a game like that's just really polished and still cares about being an enjoyable complete experience with a complete story and theme rather then what I feel a lot of other mascot horror games do where they only tell bits of their stories in chunks in a way to keep people talking about the lore and the mystery and to come back for the next game/update. It's genuinely really nice
Sean put it so well when he said this one actually feels like a video game while most of the other mascot horror ones don't l. One of the few times I've been so sad that I watched it here instead of played it myself but I didn't expect it to be so good
@@brianna6087 I think it's partially that but like I said, it also is just nice to see one of these types of games that is just one complete package. It's not 5 chapter game released across 2 years and it doesn't breadcrumb you with lore and then give an ambigious ending to be theorized forever, its a complete story with a clear theme and something to say and it's just really refreshing to see a game like this that's just a good solid package
I'm not too big on Poppy Playtime or Banban or any of that "Mascot Horror" either. I gotta say though, even though I only watched it, this is definitely one of my favorite games now. Maybe it's not top 5 or even 10, but it's up there. And at the end of the day, that's not bad, Maybe we all need to start being a better neighbor and give these Devs a little less bs.
The letter to children at the end kicked me right in the gut. You can really tell how much care and intelligence went into this game throughout it, from the thought that went into the dialogue and the cut scenes, but that touch was really the cherry on top. Games that come from devs loving an idea this much and putting so much effort into making it compelling and exciting are just better. They’re built different.
Ricky at the end saying "won't you be our neighbor" had me immediately tearing up thinking of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and my childhood and all that stuff. This game feels so oddly hopeful to me somehow.
It’s one of the many reasons I’ve always came back to his channel, he plays my favorite games and always introduces me to some new games that become my favorites as well and I love his energy and his style and he’s just been my favorite gaming channel since middle school and now I’m out in the world and it’s always good to go back and watch some comfort playthroughs like Spider-Man or Kindergarten or Little Nightmares or Cuphead or Bendy or so many more of his. Thank you Sean for all you’ve helped me get through
I love how this game handles everything involved so well. War, trauma, abandonment, heavy topics to channel through children’s show mascots, but incredibly well done. I agree with everyone that most “mascot horror” has become a merchandising cashgrab, and I can see how this could also create quite the memorabilia, but it’s not just churned out for money. But on a funny tone, the abbreviation of MFN makes me read everything as “Mother-FUCKIN’” making notes far funnier. The board game note was quite amusing.
Love how Sean asks if he said he got "skunk cabbage" in the mail, completely glossing over that he said "my neighbor stuffed into a box and shipped through the mail."
Ricky's facial expressions are just... Amazing. The way he cocks his head and rolls his eyes, it's just *very* in-sync with his mood and words. I love him.
It really feels like an authentic Muppet performance too, and I've always LOVED that about the Muppets, how their performers are skilled enough to take these puppets with limited facial capabilities and still make them so incredibly expressive and easy to connect with.
35:26 "Oh maybe I can talk to my echo. HELLO!" "h-hello" "Hello? Hey there!" "he...helle...hey there" "Its uh, n-nice to meet you :D" "..." *"Oh he left :("*
This game portrays so well a harsh reality of the world that not everything is sunshine and rainbows. But all the different puppets needed Gordon, as much as he needed them. Truly a Masterpiece for the ages
With the horror game market as saturated as it is, it's hard for new games, especially mascot horror games, to stand out, but this truly felt so unique, fun, and engaging. I genuinely loved it.
same! im usually not a fan of muppet parodies, as the muppets and sesame street were never really my childhood, but the attention to detail and level of care put into this game is beautiful
Not just the video game itself, but Sean's speech at the end about supporting indie devs and such is really making me tear up. Sean is such an inspiration. Over the years and growing so quickly, you really would think he'd gain this huge ego and become an attention-hungry, fame-needing individual. He's not. He's truly never been and I'm sure he never will be. I've been watching Sean for 6 years and that's quite biazzare. He's only changed for the better. Taking care of himself further, getting a better feel for the world and other people's emotions as well. I love Sean so much and I hope he's successful and happy until he's done. He deserves the world and more. Now I'm going to go wishlist and perhaps buy My Friendly Neighborhood, not only because it's a great game, but because Sean's message inspired me to take the ability I have and use it for good. Thank you for being such a huge part of my life over the years. I appreciate everything he does for not only his fans and subscribers, but for the gaming community and just the world. Keep being as good as you can be, Sean. 💛 (I'm crying after writing this, but that's besides the point I'm just gonna get out of bed for the first time today to do this 😭)
nah this was long as balls... thats awkward....... listen i've never written a comment for a jacksepticeye video in these 6 years (if i did it wasn't good at all bc i don't recall it) so i need to make this one count 😭 love you sean and anyone reading this, i hope your day is splendid!!!!!
I completely agree with this. I have been watching him for around 7 years at this point, and the growth he's had is incredible. Unlike most youtubers I've watched over the years, Sean is such a kind and overall amazing person who deserves every good thing that has and will come to him from now until forever.
Jack saying this is a very “video gamey video game” felt so accurate to me. This game holds your attention, you got personality in these characters, it’s so built well with the stages and leading through to the next one. It’s definitely way more unique than these other mascot games. One of the best games I’ve seen Sean play this whole year. Good job developers
Yeah the choice of having resident evil style gameplay feels like it was such a good fit for the style they were going for. With minimal music and just the constant chattering for the puppets it builds up a weirdly eerie atmosphere. One of the things that stood out for me is that the puppets themselves don't say anything all that alarming 99% of the time... but every once in awhile you hear them say something that makes you do a double take, like "What did you just say?". You only get that effect by making the choice to have them ACTUALLY appear normal for the majority of their rants, and that's something I know a lesser developer would've looked at and said "No not creepy enough", but in actuality it makes it more unsettling Too many mascot horror games go full edgy blood demon mode right off the back and it's refreshing to see someone make some different choices
The emotions that you feel throughout the entire game is powerful. Gordon helping the puppets turn around and help me in the end. Isn't that what a friend, family and neighbor should be? Thank you Sean for sharing this with us.
I love that the game is spooky and makes you go "OH SHIT" but its not overly scary or intense because of the game's message at the end, just a super sweet sentiment to end off on. The moments of helping Pearl and Goblette especially got me
The best part about this game? The storytelling. There’s no crazy overarching plot that is told across multiple games. No unnecessary hidden lore to figure out. Just a good, solid story that is honestly quite heartwarming.
Every time I watch Sean play a game I’m shocked by how well he can replicate the voices and the way of speaking of the characters. It’s honestly impressive like his impressions are spot on!
Love that you think Sean's impersonations are so amazing - they're really giveaways that he really loves acting and loves playing video games! Awn7mFktpB4
2:01:59 An easy trick to remember with dice is that the sum of the opposite sides will always equal 7. 1 is opposite 6, 2 is opposite 5, and 3 is opposite 4.
No evil spirits. No cruel experimentation. No dead kids. Just creatures that are sad, lonely, confused and abandoned. And a protagonist with enough kindness left to make their lives better. Well done devs ❤
@@Natedamate "....and if you think blasting somebody away with a giant letter gun is kind, then I think there's an issue with you." No offense, eh? Each gun in the game comes with a letter explaining that the guns don't harm the puppets. If you READ any of the lore or watched other videos you would know that. And I never said Gordon started right off as kind; the whole point of the game's story is finding lost happiness and learning to love your neighbor. But if you pay attention to the cutscenes Gordon does do kind things to the major puppets and agrees to help ALL of the others get back to their former selves at the end. As for your other statement, I have no idea what the fuck you were trying to say, other than Gordon tells Ricky, "I'm lucky I haven't been hugged to death. Or eaten." So yeah, the puppets' primary attack is hugging.
This game is honestly so refreshing compared to any mascot horror ive seen, i like that they took it in such a unique direction with the puppets not actually having evil intentions. Its such a nice surprise to have a unique game like this
I love how even though it’s based on the Muppets, Sesame Street and a little bit of Fraggle Rock(the show planned to end war)this game heavily draws from Resident Evil mechanics from the health bar, the Inventory, the close up of the doors when loading the next room and even the old RE1 they will get back up if you don’t use the Kerosene(Which in this case is tape for puppets instead of burning zombies), also love how the wrench and guns are all Bioshock style
It is really sad when you realize that the puppets really do have good intentions, but they're so deprived for attention - so hurt and broken - that they don't even realize they're hurting you. Not all monsters are evil, but all monsters are broken.
Yeah it's quite smart that the puppets aren't actually trying to kill you (except in the Unfriendly Neighbourhood). They just want your attention and friendship so much that they end up hurting you. You can hear how excited they are for a new friend. It's a great idea.
It's nice that we get to see Gordon try to help them too, despite his gruff attitude. It reminds you why he was hired to work for a kids show in the first place.
Gotta say, it's a little refreshing how unabashedly this game wears its influences on its sleeve. Sean pretty much called the _Bioshock_ influence right out of the gate, with the Art Deco aesthetic and the fact that your first weapon is a red pipe-wrench -- and for me, the overt homages to the assorted Muppets movies in the _MFN_ film titles got a few nostalgic smiles.
This game feels both like a affectionate love letter to what its based on with its messages on rising above the darkness and treating each other with kindness, and also a apology to those burned out with cheap cookie-cutter mascot horror games made just to churn out toys. Definitely a contender for game of the year.
I think this is a good example of what I consider "thriller" games, like not quite horror but it has that good spooky vibe despite focusing on other things more.
Because I'm the kind of person that likes seeing Sean react to helping the characters in the Neighborhood, I'm leaving timestamps of when he helps all of them. Have a relaxing day and stay hydrated! Pearl (the bird) 2:08:46 The Dogs 2:38:49 Ray (the janitor guy in the pipes) 2:56:02 Gobblette (with the added context of Sean talking with Evelien) 3:09:16 Just the Gobblette cutscene 3:10:02 Arnold (piano man) 3:22:17 Ricky's Offer 3:38:15 Sean Says Yes and True Ending 3:40:03
Being in arnold's penthouse made me tear up, because its such an accurate portrayal of what kids think being an adult is like. Arnold is just a kid "playing" the piano and living like he saw on tv, and I don't think i have the words to explain the melancholy emotions that I experienced
I didn't expect the Resident Evil style horror game about puppets to bring a tear to my eye. That final sentiment is beautiful. Coming from someone still lost in that tunnel.
Imo this video game is how you do inspiration and retelling without just ripping off. They took the parts they knew worked and people liked from RE and made it their own in a cool environment with a fun and compelling story. This weekend I plan to buy it and just sit and play it! I watched Gab play it and it just looks so fun!
Hell yeah bro, just word of advice. Don't use all your pistol ammo lol, swap to wrench if you see anyone who doesn't have long arms. You're going to need that shit in end-game
I love how the enemies in this game arent trying to hurt you (until the ones at the end obviously), they are just so excited to have a person to interact with and, not knowing their own strength, end up hurting you from that excitement Its like when someone you care about that you haven’t seen in a long time tackles you to the floor in a hug cuz they're so excited to see you Also side note Norman is and always will be my favorite. I hope there is a dlc where you go around and help all the other puppets cuz I'd love to help out Norman Edit: spelling oops
Ever since the full game came out I've been so excited to see Jack play it ever since his first playthrough of the demo, I loved how he played off the detective film noir style with his narration lmao
3:32:30 the Vietnam war was one of the first wars to be displayed on television, with recurring theme of not only the Vietnam war, but also with Gordon being a veteran of it, I think what the puppets watched was actual Vietnam war footage. That’s what made them “mean” so to speak
I mean it wasn't. It was the first conflict involving America to be shown. Why do all Americunts think they are the world? And also what? World War 2 news reels were shown in cinemas... Literally how companies like 20th century fox and Pathe got going. Such a weird thing to say... It like saying that the Ukraine war is the first in the internet era like Iraq and Afghanistan didn't exist.
This game honestly gave me hope for the Indie Horror genre as I feel this game is a tremendous breath of fresh air. I absolutely love everything about this game, especially that little final speech from the CEO, that got me good. Also, Jack honestly has a lot of great voices, seriously, his voices are great!
“Norman has noticed” would be the funniest Easter egg if it replaced the usual “Mike will remember that” in a game. I’d pass out from laughing if that happened.
That would be so scary, you turn around after hearing that and see Norman just standing there like 20 feet away from you, not even talking, hands down and just watching. I'd quit the whole game
Can we just appreciate that this might be the first of it's kind of "Mascot Horror" that doesn't involve the deaths or souls of dead children, or evil experiments? The Puppets are just alive and abandoned, and processing severe grief and trauma, and I love that.
I like the fact that they hit the uncanny vally with felt puppets that have no sign of wires, string, or even a couple of hands guiding them. It makes me wonder how the makers of things like Sesame Street didn't have people past the age of 12, making horror stories about elmos' death stare.
Actually if you watch Brendan Blabber(jello apocalypse and the guy who was essentially in charge of all actual voice work) he tells the guy who voices Gordon tho deliver his lines as if sentient puppets are just something you have a chance of just running into
I was expecting more horror, instead I got existential crisis. Which technically yes, is scary enough as it is, but still. Incredible story and gameplay though, I'm honestly impressed by the dimensions of the characters (especially Gordon??) and how full this game feels. Well done to the creators and everyone that worked on it.
@@scott--1629Yeah but tbf the more silly atmosphere seems to be on purpose. Looking at the end it's clear the creators know how to make their game scary. It could have made that turn way earlier if they had wanted to.
I appreciate how Jack always takes his time to read through every piece of paper he finds in these sort of games. Like when he played Detroit Become Human back in 2018 and he’d read through the news tablet things, I always enjoyed him wanting to learn more about the worlds these games take place in.
@@ibzdagamer In every ending Ricky still tries to get Gordon to help out MFN. If you don't decide to help them he just tells Gordon to go live his life as a bitter old man.
In terms of "mascot horror" I appreciate the one off nature of this. It's a great game with a great story. Doesnt feel like another Freddy cash grab. No dead children too!
I can only think of one "dead children" one, and it's literally the original FNaF. This trope is nowhere near the big overused trope people keep pretending it is.
@@ElFreakinCid It's not about them being trapped as souls, just the fact that dead children factor into the plot. Poppy Playtime and Garten of Banban both factor hurt or dead children into the plot.
I like how Norman says "Draw the Biohazard sign!" - Biohazard is the Japanese name for the Resident Evil series. Nice little nod, like the rest of the game. Love the 'Barry' and 'Claire' in the note at 1:44:00 too, both Resident Evil characters. And Julia in there too, Julia Voth was Jill Valentine's character model in RE1/5. The devs really love Resident Evil lol
These brothers, both the two who made MFN and the third who made Iron Lung, are absolute legends. Stories will be told for generations of their wondrous achievements and amazing games
This was super fun to watch, didn't expect the ending to be so wholesome. Could've totally seen it taking the twist of Ricky trying to get rid of Gordon to prevent him from turning off the antenna. Instead they became friends!
It's crazy how the game starts out feeling like a horror game but in the end the characters end up sympathetic. This game was phenomenal though. 10/10.
I'm blown away. Even with the demo showing some quality, I thought this would just be a gimmick game, but damn. The quality of the setting, the characters, the message, are all incredible. This and Dredge are the biggest surprises for me this year. We need more games like them.
Omg ikr!!!i hesitated to watch other people play it cause i was 70% sure it was gonna be like another poorly done mascot horror for some reason but it was a HECKIN MASTERPIECE,im sooooo glad i took my time to actually watch this or else I'd miss such an incredible experience
I cannot understate how excited I am seeing Arlo in this. He's great, and just such a perfect fit for this game. He did such a phenomenal job as Ricky, I really hope he gets the oppurtunity to be involved in more games and projects.
To be fair to that point you made during the music room about content adaptation: You have adapted over the decade in content creation. You've both diversified by doing other projects (voice acting, coffee, CLOAK brand), and adapted your content with variety in games and videos (single vs multiplayer, react videos, short film style content). Theres also a trend in content creators having edits within their videos to keep viewers engaged. I still find it as entertaining as I did back then as I do today.
While Sean's inventory management drives me nuts, his voice acting and attention to design always makes up for it. It took me all day to watch this(had to pause to do some chores and errands) but I loved every moment of it and it was such a motivator. If I get this chore done I can watch the next hour of the game. If I make dinner I can eat while I watch. Thank you for being my companion during the day. You simply make the loneliness fade away.
Very impressed with the positive vibe off of jacks comment section! I love you all truly and especially jack I’ve watched since I was 14 and I’m now 21 so thanks for the lovely few years of entertainment
There's just something about Ricky that makes me love him. Be it the voice, the way his googly eyes just spin about, or that he's essentially a flying (floating?) sock puppet eel thing, I just love him.
I like how each one of the puppets you can help represents one of those four "Beauty, Power, Food, and Fame" from the scrap in that final letter to the children about what can't replace love
@@arcanosmox7113 I don't remember their names but I think it's like: Bird=beauty because they were looking in the mirror when you help them Sewer guy=power be the was always trying to force things to be fixed and do what he wanted Food=the dogs because they literally eat when you help them Fame=Goblett because they're in the theater watching a movie and movies make you famous
I think Pearl is Fame since her makeup cabinet looks like a diva's one. Ray is Power cuz he's the handiman and handles the power? And Arnold is Beauty cuz even though he looks monstrous, his inside is beautiful and he's just a musical boi who likes to play his piano. idk, that's just my guess.
Pearl is beauty, power is Ray, Food is Goblette(obviously), and Fame is Arneld, right? Of all four, Ray is the weakest in my opinion, although it still works.
The fact this game has an intricate backstory of a world succumbing to the idea that nice guys finish last and actively frowning on any degree of kindness and by extension the shows moral messages and the whole time Jack's just "So then the puppets start murdering people??" "Yeah you gotta change with the times" My mans open thine eyes
1:23:54 The paintings are "Wanderer Above a Sea of Fog" and "Saturn Devouring His Son" I do agree though, both of them are amazing & I love the references to them in this game
Jack: "I have NO ROOM IN MY INVENTORY" Also Jack: refuses to take anything out that he's not using despite knowing he's looking for things to put in it...
I don't see anyone talking about this, so I'll put it here. I love how different the story is compared to the demo. Because of the demo, I was going into this video with the expectation of a puppet takeover, but the message of this was much more moving, and definitely separated it from Poppy Playtime, FNAF, and all that, because even though there should be more emotional attachment with children's souls being trapped in these objects for amusement, there's so much more violence towards them and sucks a lot of the empathy out. With this, instead of killing or disfiguring them, you harmlessly tie them up and even help them with their problems, and it's such a nicer tone. One of the loveliest horror games I've seen in a while.
I agree! We got baited but in the best way, they didn't just deliver all in the demo to bring in as many people possible, they kept this very nice surprise and change of pace to the player to figure out and it honestly is a perfect "demo" of the game itself because even as you play, that dynamic repeats itself (thinking it's just evil toys shoot shoot and discovering it's not)
It’s cus the later FNAF games kinda abandoned the sympathetic aspect. In FNAF1-3, they kept it in and gave a good ending with the souls released. FNAF4+ went for expanding the lore and spending more time developing the antagonist, which I never liked since the horror also came from the unknown child killer. SB made the animatronics sympathetic with them being conscious, but it didn’t commit to it as much.
I’m so excited to see where this game takes these brothers. They’ve got great games on their hands, and I definitely think they will go far with these different titles of “My Friendly Neighborhood” and “Iron Lung”. I wish them the best, and I’m so happy you likes this game! It’s one of my favorites!
I adore the sense of humor and effort put into this game, even just the silly little parody paintings show that the devs loved this game and wanted nothing but the best for it
I just love all the little nods throughout the game to Jim Henson. The Shadow Amethyst posters (Dark Crystal), The Mystic Maze posters (The Labyrinth), The Puppet Pirate cove mentions (Muppet Treasure Island), Puppet Winter Song (Muppet Christmas Carrol), there was a poster for their version of Fraggle Rock, and of course My Friendly Neighborhood (Sesame Street). As a massive Henson Studios fan seeing all of these little pieces just filled me with so much joy. I've been excited for this game ever since I saw Jack and Gab play the demo for it and I'm so glad that it's so fantastic. I can't wait to see crossover art of this game and Welcome Home
Also some of the poster were to the great muppet caper and the very first muppet movie where Kermit and fozzy bear go on a road trip to Hollywood. 21:08
3:42:02 Wait, the purple curtain was GIANNI??? THE VOICE OF GABRIEL ULTRAKILL AND LIEUTENANT COLUMBO??? THAT GIANNI?! Oh, the recording sessions must've been amazing. Just the image of Duke Nukem coughing, spitting, and wheezing into the mic to record sounds for the game. I would've never realized it was him if not for the credits.
This was so surprisingly wholesome for a mascot survival horror. I'm so glad Jack got the true good ending for his playthrough, it gives such a different feel to the end!
