David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks singing My Girl, This DVD is called Dancin' in the Street. It was re- released in January 2008. It was originally recored as a concert in 1987
I saw them at The Venetian Room in Dallas. They were nearing the end, but when they stepped up to the mics, you wouldn’t have known it. They were brilliant. Plus, Donny Hathaway was in the audience. He came up, played a few tunes. I floated out of there. ♥️♥️
Say whatever you want to say about David but he was one of the greatest singers and had a phenomenal voice that ever came down through time no one could match his voice no lead singers that came after him could match his voice. He will always be remembered and the original Temptations ask the number one male group of all times rest in peace David and the rest of the Temptations.
No matter what David went through on his life, his voice was so amazing with any song he sung. Rest In Peace David Ruffin you were definitely a powerhouse. 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️💙💙💙💙
It seems, sadly, that we never fully appreciate the very best of us until after they're gone. There will never be another like David Ruffin. He was THE VOICE of a very different time, and from a place we can never return to, no matter how much we'd all love to. Rest in peace David. 🌠
I agree their will never be another David Ruffin or Eddie Kendricks. They were the greatest and come along only once in a life time And I m grateful that it was during my lifetime.
I'm so hooked on David and his voice can't stop listening. So here again today watching my mix. Grew up with the Temps. I'm 66 yrs old now and I still tear up when I think of the Temps gone. Love forever.
I am 69 and feel the same way. I fell in love with David Ruffin (and the Tempts) when I was 14 years old lol! Been loving The Temptations (all era's) ever since. Love The Temptations Forever (then and now)❤️
It's been nearly 30 years since his tragic passing, and I've come to realize recently that David Ruffin was perhaps the greatest male singer, entertainer produced by Motown - with the exception of maybe Smokie Robinson. No disrespect to the incredibly great Marvin Gaye, one of my favorites. Hopefully, Ruffin is at peace in the afterlife. He certainly left us with an incredible body of music. We simply do not have entertainers like this today, so thoroughly dedicated to their craft.
David Ruffin a Man with Three Attached to him: Number 1 A Great Man of Character! Number 2 A Great Caring Personality! Number 3 Well Known all around the World? A GREAT VOICE that can NEVER be DUPLICATED!!!! My Wife and I were MARRIED for 25 YEARS when she Passed Away on September 25th of 2020 due to cardiac arrest, and lack of oxygen. While she was alive I'd play this song for her whenever I had a chance from the time we met until she passed away. It has deeper meaning for me now when I hear it. I believe she is here with me wheni I listen I can feel her presence. That's why I keep playing it now whenever I get the chance!!!!
I saw David and the Temps at the Starlight Theater in Kansas City during their Reunion Tour in 1982. I had front row seats and he offered me the mic to sing along with him and to this day it's the highlight of my life! RIP! You are The Greatest Of All Time!
David had total command of his voice, could sing in alto, tenor,1st tenor and an incredible, incomparable falsetto.what a great voice and stage presence, once in a lifetime!
There'll never be a group of singers as great as The Temptations crossed all barriers I believe they were the greatest singers of all time, the original five Otis, Paul, Eddie, Melvin and David but love them all they are legends music will never be the same without them
Wow ! ! David Ruffin best male singer ever! Loved ALL the temptations especially Eddie Kenricks too such a beautiful elegant falsetto BUT David Ruffin undefeated as the best of the best. He died just one year before Eddieand because Eddie died of ‘natural causes’ lung cancer due to a lifelong smoking habit and David from a crack overdose there is less sympathy and loss expressed for David. This is wrong. They both died from being human but what marks them out surely is the joy and wonder they gave to us all.i have loved the temps since I was 14 years old when I bought their greatest hits as my very first album and I am 64 now. Let us just be sad that we lost them but oh so glad that we had them. I feel privileged to have been born in the Motown era and able to love the ‘temps’ till my dying day!
The best concerts I ever saw The Temptations and The Four Tops. I was 13yrs old. I haven't ever forgotten the biggest band instruments I had ever seen for both groups. 😍
This performance is amazing I’m 78 and grew up listening to the Temps and all the wonderful Motown artists About two weeks ago I was using a bus service called Dial A Ride and I played this song. All the other passengers and I engaged in a spontaneous sing a long. Even some of the people who looked to be in their 20s knew the song Goes to show how long lasting the music by the Temptations is!
@Daniel Johnston I Couldn't Have Said That Better Myself❤🎼☮ Music Now A Days Don't Have That Same Feeling That David Ruffin And Eddie Kendrick Gave People Since The 60's. I Believe Both Singers Have The Greatest Voices In The World. And Those Voices Will Always Be Missed So Much By Thoses Who Are Still Listening.
One of my absolute favorite singers ever. And Eddie holding that background down despite his voice not cooperating! A trooper!!! And they did an AMAZING job training those background singers because that background group got the right blend!!! They could pass for an incarnation of the Tempts almost. They sound GOOD.
@@aquillabennett8223Always remember him. From my hometown The Queen City AKA Meridian Mississippi.&Ruffin town in Lisman Alabama down Hiway 10.But most memories from the Redline area in the Queen City 🌃👍🏾👈👉
I would have been so honored to meet David ruffin Eddie Kendricks. Two amazing rock stars that ever put their feet on this Earth. This new generation will never understand what we had. Rest in peace David and Eddie. We love you and miss you.
They visited My high school in South Central L.A., I didn't believe they were coming Then the curtain came up & You saw those white shoes. The crowds erupted in cheers. Great Show.: Fond Memories that will last Forever
TheTemptations is one of the greatest vocal groups ever. Every last person in the group past and present could sing there ass off! 40 plus years of greatness!
Brought tears to my eyes and gave me chills. I will forever love David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks. Love their voices and their moves. RIP Gentlemen you will never be forgotten 💖💞
OMG I broke down in tears and got chills. For me these wonderful gentlemen were the greatest soul singers and group ever. I loved them back in their heyday of the 60s when Motown provided the soundtrack to my life and I still love them today because hardly anyone has come along yet that can sing anything that comes close to them.
Like I was mesmerized about him as a teenager. I am still mesmerized, as a 72 year old. Just give me David voice and I am happy. Eddie Kendricks will put me there, but David....
One of a man, gave the sixies love romance and some guess we in love,thAts how it was and I grew up with that age group good times, fairness it was just stay Away from my man or girl... Motown let everyone have love joy and dance times,.....
THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSIC VIDEOS...WITH TWO OF THE GREATEST SINGERS & PERFORMERS EVER..LOVE DAVID & EDDIE...WISH THEY HAD BEEN AROUND LONGER!!!
Quite Simply He was The VOICE behind the Temptations Domination. His Departure forced the group /Norman Whitfield to breakdown the traditional Lead/chorus structure of the group & Give each member an equal weight, which resulted in the Message songs that Dominated the pop/ soul charts & in the case of Cloud Nine WON MOTOWN ITS FIRST GRAMMY!
This hurts so bad. They gave so much to modern music. I still can not believe they are dead. No matter what their indiscretions may have been, it's still hard to believe!!
@@brandondenver4331 some of them was battling personal demons which is sad to say it even caused some friction in the group. If they had the proper help they needed they would’ve stand a good chance of being alive today. It’s still sad however you look at it.
Homer Simpson yeah as of nowbut dennis Edwards, Ali Woodson had their hits far as modern hits. Treat her like a lady, some chanted evening, stay etc !!! Don’t disrespect them. If you referring to today’s temps then I agree
@@theronwright1413 Ruffin and Kendricks Albums Such As David Ruffin's Who Am I (1975) And He's A Friend (1976) Are Great Too i have No Disrespect Towards Dennis Edwards or The Replacements Of The Temptations. On top of that don't who to like from the Temptations again cause I know who I like
@MsLady328 Yes he is, and all do respect I would have kicked the grit out of her ass, went up one side of her and came down the other side. I am not a fan of Diana Ross. And never have been. I could tell that Eddie, David, and Paul were very charming. Absolutely, it was very interesting. Thanks for the information.
This is my favorite David Ruffin video. His voice will last through all eternity as one of the richest most beautiful singing 🎤 voices that ever performed in front of a microphone. ♥️♥️♥️Love you Mr. David Ruffin. RIP
No matter how good a black artist is, some blockhead will always bring up their addictions. From Billie Holiday to David Ruffin! Rest in Peace Mr Ruffin and Mr Eddie Kendricks🌹🌹♥️‼️
I grew up with all of them, the originals and the ones after and I love love, love them so much. I finally was able to see them at the mountain winery a few years ago, and with the only lasting temptation of Otis and he was getting tired and I was so grateful to sit in the third row to be so close to see them all and I miss the rest of them so much. The greatest greatest group of all times and I’m so grateful to have grown up when I did to be able to know them at the time and I wish people of other generations could listen and watch and appreciate them like I have
@@corrynthiaiam9205 ..WELL DESERVED, DESPITE the PROBLEMS that plagued his LIFE,FACT IS DAVID RUFFIN is a LEGEND, CONSIDERED BY MANY at his PEAK to be the BEST LEAD SINGER of OUR TIME...
....It is sad to see such a talented person just get wasted away by the curse of Drug use,.....it really is,.....he could have given US so much more,..........
Wow what a treat for the audience to hear the Ruff sing and tell them a story at the same time. His speaking voice is as good as his singing one. What a singer What a showman What a legend
