I would love to see what a meal plan for you and your family is for a week or two! Just to get some ideas. I’m pretty sure our family has gluten and lactose intolerances but we just haven’t made the jump and I feel it could be because of not knowing where to start on planning. I too am having a major bloating issue.

I also have PCOS. I went gluten/dairy/refined sugar free about a year and a half ago and am so happy I did. A few months after cutting those out my symptoms were greatly improved. I started to eat some additional sugar and noticed that the PCOS symptoms got much worse. I’m pretty sure sugar in many of its forms are the biggest culprit for me. I stick to coconut sugar/maple syrup/honey, but even those seem to cause some issues. By avoiding gluten/dairy/refined sugars I feel better and figure that I’m not missing out on any vital nutrients by not eating those. I’m much healthier and it doesn’t hurt me, so I’m sticking with it.

I have been a Paleo fan since 2004- I eat mostly meat, veggies, and berries. I started because I had issues with debilitating migraines. To the point of vomiting and multiple per month. I have been migraine free, the only exception was when I was pregnant I got a couple with each kiddo- but they were not nearly as bad as before. I use inositol for hormone balancing now in my 40’s. Many use it for OCD, anxiety, and other mood disorders- but it helps with progesterone/estrogen balance as well. Our autistic son uses it for mental calming- and it works wonders. But yes- eating well is the foundation! I’m Glad it helped you!

I have to be Gluten and Dairy free and I totally get what you mean about trying not to be a pain with family and friends. I'm always aware that I eat different and I hate that people feel like they have to worry for me.

Yes! Of course if it’s medically necessary than you do what you have to, but I just wanted to be as flexible as I could!

I did strict no dairy/gluten/yeast/sugar for 6 months last year. I felt really good but it was just not realistic to stick to. I have yet to find a healthy way of eating I can stick to, not a diet but able to not eat too much junk.

Dairy is very inflammatory so that makes sense. Especially the low quality dairy we have here. Same with most wheat products. PCOS is lymphatic stagnation, inflammation, & from a toxic burden. Detox would be very helpful.

Something a lot of people don’t realize is that gluten is in a lot of personal products also, like shampoo, makeup, lotions, play dough, silly string...gluten is hidden everywhere

Beyond lactose some can't do the casein in milk. You can find some products without casein. Two of our kids can't have lactose and two can't have casein. We are also gluten free. My brother was diagnosed with Celiac recently and I did the genetic testing and believe I have it too. Unfortunately because I took gluten out of my diet beforehand I wasn't able to have a biopsy done to see if I have celiac. Mine is so bad (gallbladder attacks, hair loss etc.) that I can't imagine the thought of eating gluten so I can do the testing. Something I tell people now is if you think you might have celiac or gluten problems talk to your doctor about getting tested before you take gluten out of your diet.

Do you notice that whey protein bothers you? I am lactose intolerant, but also have arthritis so anytime I eat too much inflammatory foods, as well as dairy, even with lactose enzyme pills, my arthritis hurts. I started using protein shakes and couldn't figure out why my arthritis was so bad and as soon as I switched from whey protein to vegan pea protein the inflammation and pain stopped. Just curious since you use the built bars and I don't know if a lot of people think about whey possibly affecting them.

For future reference, Disney is actually one of the most accommodating places for food sensitivities. I used to go to Disney land weekly (pass holder) and ate gluten free and all the restaurants are amazing. I’ve even had a chef come out to talk to me at several places and it was always a very positive experience. My experience is from several years ago too but it was super common. Don’t be afraid of eating at Disney with sensitivities.

Question, are you able to handle whey protein? I had to switch to vegan protein but I do eat some quest products that contain whey and I think they are messing with me.

When I was GF and dairy free I was ALWAYS hungry. Couldn't get satisfied at all. It was hard. I made it for about a month lol. I don't think I have a gluten intolerance, dairy is iffy. I can handle yogurt but thats pretty much it.

I wonder specifically what it is about dairy that makes it such an issue for you. The obvious answer is being Lactose Intolerant and the one that most people are going to know. The other is something I learned recently. There are two proteins in milk A1 and A2. Milk either comes as having A1/A2 or A2/A2. Some people who have issues with milk but its not Lactose, only get A2/A2 milk and do fine on it. It’s the A1 protein for them that’s the issue. If its not a Lactose issue, I’d look into whether its the A1 protein.

Not lactose intolerant because I don’t experience those symptoms.

I have PCOS too. I cut gluten and dairy after you inspired me too look into it and it definitely helped with the bloating and hormonal acne for me. Have you heard of ovasitol? I just discovered it recently and it is a natural supplement (part of the b vitamin family) that helps with pcos and oh my goodness was it a game changer for me when it came to pcos symptoms!

I finally decided my weight is getting out of control & I have to do something about it so I did keto diet but didn’t do as much fats as they say to do & within 2 days I noticed my acid reflux heartburn was gone & I lost 1” off my waist & I thought what did I change with my food? I wasn’t eating anymore breads, rolls, buns. So one night I was hungry & grabbed a Corndog to eat & noticed the volcano in my stomach happening again & figured it was the gluten in the Corndog. Before I had major acid reflux heartburn for 14 years & nothing worked took otc & prescription meds for it & it got worse. I even did a celiac test years ago & that came out negative for having a gluten issue which I was surprised it didn’t show up positive. I even ate a lot of gluten before that test. Tests are not 100% accurate my doctor told me. Then why even do that major expensive test then? So I did my own doctoring & figured it out myself & I’ve been gluten free for 2 weeks now & 0 acid reflux heartburn. Whenever I try to eat anything with bread, buns, rolls, the cornbread around a Corndog the volcano starts in my stomach again & major acid reflux heartburn. I’m definitely gonna stay gluten free the rest of my life now. That acid is the worst pain ever!! I’m surprised I didn’t get stomach polyps, stomach or esophagus cancers from all the acid all those 14 years. I’m now eating herring, & sardines getting the omega 3 fish in to heal my gut from the damage gluten did to my stomach. I believe I did have celiac disease because I had diarrhea after eating gluten. That’s gone now since not eating any breads, buns, rolls, anything with gluten in. I can still eat cereal with wheat in that doesn’t bother me it’s more the yeast & gluten in breads, buns, rolls. I’m thinking of quitting milk too because I gain a lot of weight with it. I can get more vitamin D & more calcium in the fish I’m eating like herring & sardines. Pink salmon has the most vitamin D in it it has 83% Daily Value. Milk only has 10% Daily Value. Milk is inflammatory & fish is anti-inflammatory. So I’m listening to my body healing up my body & not listening to my doctor anymore. I diagnosed myself having celiac disease by elimination of foods & fixing my diet that was causing it. Im thinking I’ll lose more weight once I totally quit drinking cows milk. I’m thinking of trying almond milk instead. I got over 100 lbs. to lose. Think gluten & drinking milk contributed to all of those lbs.

I went gluten free a year ago and I definitely have better energy. Anytime I've tried adding gluten back in (besides sprouted Ezekiel bread), I get brain fog. But I didn't see a difference my PCOS symptoms. The thing that helped my PCOS (PMS, energy, skin, cycle, etc) the most was addressing my blood sugar and gut health 5 years ago. I've tried various supplements, and Plexus supplements have hands down been the most effective and most affordable for me.

I’m in the process of trying to be completely dairy free…. It just upsets my stomach so much and makes me feel so sickly when I have big portions of dairy. Do you have any recommendations on dairy free protein shakes???

I have seen in your hauls that you like granola in your yogurt. Do you eat a type of yogurt other than dairy? Also, do you ever have butter or cream cheese on your toast in the mornings? I just don't think I could ever do life without butter! 🤣

I agree with everyone trying it if you feel badly and you have to give it all or nothing! Unfortunately, myself and my two kids all have celiac disease so gluten will never be okay for us and my son and I also can’t do dairy. Food is hard in our house, but we make it work! We rarely eat out because of it though. Thanks for sharing your journey…it’s not easy to have the discipline to eliminate foods fully and reintroduce them in the correct way. Great job! 💚

Dairy is so tricky! I did the same thing as you a few years ago and had similar outcomes. I do have gluten back in my diet but dairy is just a no-go. Is anyone else in your home dairy free as well? I have one kiddo who just doesn’t like it- so obviously we don’t push him to eat it.
