The dangers of flipping, we tend to just go around in circles invariably, never happy and waste so much money a long the way .if it’s your grail it may be worthwhile making a deal with yourself it’s not for sale at any cost barring any foreseen financial disaster . After many years of buying and flipping I realised the real value is in what I own and not what i lust after . I’ve only really started to enjoy my watches since I shut my eyes to new purchases and made true connections with the great watches I have The discontentment has gone and I feel my change in habit has made me so much more relaxed and contented
So happy for you. I sold my 16550 and my GMT Mastet II from 1993. I’m still hurting over those. Keep that one, my friend! Don’t give into selling it when the temptation comes.

I too have the 14060M 2-liner, but mine's the 2002 series with full kit, i.e. everything that originally came with the watch including original AD-stamped papers, anchor, red seal, etc. Your 3-for-1 swap was exactly the kind I'd have done...absolutely smart deal. I previously had a few Sub date models, one being the 16800 (1985) and the other the much more current 116610LN ceramic (2012), in addition to a 16600 SD (2005). With the exception of the Sea-Dweller, which was lovely but sat a bit too high on the wrist compared with the Subs, I did miss having a Sub after flipping the 16800 and 116610LN. So I jumped on this 14060M full-kit in a Rolex-to-Rolex trade (Exp. II for the Sub) when the opportunity arose on a local watch forum, especially as I wanted to go the no-date route this time around. Love the symmetry of the 2-liner no-date and the fact that this one's the "M" model (cal. 3130) having the larger balance wheel, full balance bridge and reinstated Breguet overcoil to replace the flat hairspring. The only thing I would really like to have seen on the 14060M was Tritium lume. Don't know what it is (perhaps being nostalgic when it comes to lots of things) but I love the look of the honest-to-goodness (not the faux) aging lume on Subs. Of course I understand the reasons for the move away from Tritium, but I still would prefer it. Purchasing my grail, a well-preserved but patinaed 5512 or 5513 as a full-kit, is completely out of the question given today's prices; however, the 14060M is probably the more practical one anyway so it'll be a keeper.
The Rolex Sub is a beautiful watch and meanwhile a cult object. Well, you can play the game of getting one - or not.I don’t. But if your budget is not an argument I can fully understand that many men do play the game. How much would I pay for a watch? Well, not more than 1% of my total wealth. Even though a Rolex Sub can be regarded as an investment I would prefer shares though. Its just my way of life, I too like beautiful solid luxury watches but not that much.
They will never make a 2 liner submariner again. These are the last subs in the purest form possible. Once the watch world understands that they’ll keep going up
The pre-ceramic subs are great - I have 14060M I would never sell. Most people don't realize or appreciate what it takes in terms of a great movement and skilled watchmaker to get consistent numbers on the timegrapher like those one your sub. Yet on Rolex watches that is the usual norm. I have an OP Date from 1991 with a 3135 movement that has been regulated to a zero rate and zero beat error with amplitude in the 290's in 5 positions. Amazing!
3 for 1 might be a common trade statistic to get a Rolex. Last week my Rolex Deep Blue cost me a Planet Ocean LM LE, Ti Planet Ocean 8500, and a '74 moon watch. Two years ago my Hulk cost me 3 Omega or Tudor watches in trade, as did my and Sea Dweller 43 last year. But 2 yr ago my SS Pepsi GMT II cost me 2 Rolex in trade (one that I didn't even like). I'm running out of watches that I would let go to trade (that are worth trading). EDIT - By my count I still own 10 Omegas and 1 Tudor (with a few Victorinox, Luminox, Seiko and Citizen, Bulova and micro-brands), and have sold or traded 9 Rolex/1 Tudor over the past 10 years (and about 12 Omegas came and went too).
Great review dude! I own the exact same watch, 14060 Swiss only dial. What a cool and understated piece. I love the turquoise lume as opposed to the green super luminova. I was thinking of selling it but after watching this video, I am definitely keeping it 😉
Well, they are the best. Not in outright haute horlogerie, but in terms of ruggedness, accuracy and last but not least value preservation a Rolex is hard to beat. Furthermore, they really brought a lot of watch innovations to the people and these watches were designed as tools for professionals, pieces of industrial art. The image some might dislike came later out of their popularity and fame, not to blame the watch. If you really dive into their history, you come to realise they are neither overhyped nor overprized, but simply fully deserve their status and place in history of watchmaking.

You'd think they would have installed the correct fat 20mm # 23-9291 even aftermarket prior to sale. Otherwise it was fine.
