I had the worst dream ever last night. I dreamed that my hamsters nails were stuck in my shirt and usually when this happens I very gently pull her leg off my shirt. But, for some reason in my dream, her leg snapped into 3 pieces. I literally woke up sobbing. Also, great video. Love you Victoria

To all beginner hamster owners: So always do some research in hamsters until you get a hamster, like emergencies and information that u will or might need! Here is some examples. -hydration -sickness -weight -training -feeding (safe and unsafe foods) -needing medication -signs of depression/illness -how to cheer your hamster And ya! So always do some research and write all the things u need to learn and always remember:D

Thx girl! I’m glad to say that I’m slowly collecting these items, especially since my hammy went to her first vet trip, and was prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. I’ve been giving her yogurt and benebac as well. MOST IMPORTANT THING I LEARNED TODAY - GIVE MEDS IN SYRINGE FROM SIDE :-) I did it from the front this morning and I think it did choke my hammy up a little. Thx again!

Those people who are disliking are most likely doing it, just to do it. Stupid. You are the absolute best!! Everything you do is helpful and funny, and cute at the same time! ♥️♥️♥️

I'd love to chime in on the hand warmer topic: Hand warmers like the ones you showed get extremely, EXTREMELY hot. Which is great for us! We often have them inside a pocket, and we're big jugs of water so we can dissipate it fairly efficiently. But tiny hamsters might not appreciate it. They also last about eight hours. I would suggest getting the warmers used to ship reptiles. They last about 40 hours and are cooler in temperature, so generally more comfortable for tiny critters, especially if you're going to have no power for a while. "But hun, I don't NEED 40 hours of heat!" I hear you cry, and don't worry, I've gotchu. Any of those instant, air activated hand warmers? Stick 'em in a plastic ziploc bag, press aaaall the air out, and they'll stay good for way longer. I've used one, done thing, then revived it several days later. It's super good with our human hand warmers, no reason to think it wouldn't work with the reptile ones as well. :)

Porridge oats are also a good food to have. Porridge is great for mixing with meds and as an energy boost for sick or elderly hammies

The awesome thing about baby food is also that you can put antibiotics or other meds in the baby food if your hamster gets stressed a lot when you hold him to give him the meds. I have been doing that with Mick and Murmel and it's like when you put veggies your kid doesn't like in food they like. They eat it without making a scene. Well... Murmel did taste the meds and got really annoyed last time, but he would always come back to the spoon to take another bite before flinching, running away, then returning clattering his teeth at me... in the end though, he ate the whole thing. it was pretty funny to watch. Baby food is something I always have in my home. You can use it to give meds, you can use it to give some water and nutritions in the summer during the day... it's essential in my care for so many reasons.

Thank you for this!! It's super important for people to have emergency kits for all their animals and I find that it's often overlooked (but life saving).

some cornstarch to stop any bleeding if you accidentally cut the quick can also be great!

Instead of the hay based critical care (or similar hay based stuff) i prefer to use nut butter and some ground up hamster food. The nut butter give some extra energy which is always good with weight loss. And while hamsters are able to digest hay, i always prefer some seed based stuff as main part. Grinding up the usual main food will also prevent big changes in the diet. Or some mushy lab animals food which also comes with added vitamins. Here in germany you can also buy some stuff from the brand "JrFarm" :)

Pet smart actually gave us Benebac powder when we bought our current hamster, it lasts a long time and the hammies LOVE IT. They’ll eat anything with it on. The store actually told us to put the benebac on lettuce leaves every few days / once a week for the hammies.

Thank you for this video because I bought a pet first aid kit but it was for a dog or a cat and so when my hamster caught her foot we couldn’t use anything so now I have this just in case

I was taming my hamster in my bath tub and I tried to pick her up and she let me only after a couple days of taming! She even climbed onto my shoulder! She’s a super sweet hamster 😁🐹

Our hamster named pop tart just had babies. We had 3 other males in the cage with her so we don’t know who the father is. We had to move the males out into a temporary small bin . The next day we called a few people and they said they had a big cage in their attic . We got the cage from them and it had so much stuff in it . The 3 males now live in 2 cages put together and a ton of space . The mother had about nine babies. She has never done this before. It seemed to all be going good. This was nothing important just wanted to let you know and put it out there... love your videos and your pets

Hi Victoria! I know you may never see this, but I just wanted to say that you have changed both me and my hamsters’ lives. Thanks to you, I have learned that they need much more space than any crittertrail, they must have a proper diet (I use sunburst as well as some healthy pellets; I couldn’t find Mazuri rat pellets at my pet store), and MUCH MORE! I remember writing to you a few months ago about how I wasn’t able to get 2 40 gallon tanks for my hamster, but I realized that my hamsters are old, and transferring this late (they’re 1 and a half years old) would be stressful, and once my hamsters pass away my family is getting a dog and no more hamsters, so it’s really out of the option, AND my budget. I currently have a 2 story crittertrail with a few hideout add ons for each of them. I’m pretty happy with it because I take them out every day when they’re awake, so they’re not just cooped up in their cage all day long. They show no signs that their cage is too small, thankfully, and I provide them with a clean cage and a happy life! I really hope I’m doing the right thing. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me! 😁

I made a first aid kit a few days ago since I was in Hurricane Barry. Thankfully my location didn’t get the the bad end with the storm. We only lost power for a second but our pool flipped to the other side of the yard. But I decided to make a first aid just Incase and I will definitely upgrade it now!

i got a hamster today and you taught me so much i have had 2 hamsters in the past and i put them in tiny cages but you taught me they need bigger cage so today i bought a long haired Syrian and he is in a 55 gallon tank

I said my gerbil lost its tail awhile ago, but now he's doing so good!

Yay! Early again! I actually just changed my hamster cage and got a bigger one, because I have been giving a 250square inches of floor space, and I went online to see the ones u recommended , too expensive, so I went to get a storage box and decorated it and used my previous cage upstairs to combine so she can have an upstairs too. My hamster recently had a UTI and I had to go through all of these steps to get her back to health. My vet told me that the Gerber chicken and gravy baby food is good for them too bc it has a higher amount of protein than the fruit baby food would. My hamster really liked the chicken baby food. Other foods that my vet recommended is plain steamed white rice and plain steamed veggies if they have a hard time chewing. Great video btw!! Lots of good info here!

There is another use for fresh thyme when you hamster gets eye infection you can steep it in to a tea and let I cool a little and then take cotton pad and apply to hamster eye gently so you can clean off some puss before vet appointment and it’s not only for hamsters you can use it on cats dogs bunnies and on yourself as well before vet appointment and I used that method on my hamster before I changed her bedding brand (also don’t use it all the time go to vet so they can prescript eye drops)

I’m not 100% sure but I think my hamster is deaf because when we check to see if his ears respond to noises they don’t he doesn’t even flinch when we clap our hands loudly but he seems really healthy and we don’t know if we should go to the vet or not just because were we live it is even more Expensive. I know this is unrelated, but I have a Syrian named Molly and I was going to try and get chinchilla sand for her next time I got bedding. Because I've noticed that she tries to roll and clean herself in the empty dish in her bin lol. It's so cute, but now I'm definitely getting her sand.😂
