What a beautiful guy. He goes through this harrowing experience and is able to explain it with humility and gratitude. No wonder so many of us trust Fil to fill us in on music and the like. He's the real deal. Fil, you're the best.
I can genuinely say I love Fil. His channel is my favorite on RU-vid and you can tell he's the real deal. Genuine, super smart, insightful, personable, caring, thoughtful, respectful. Literally the kind of person you would love to hang out with over a couple pints and just talk music. Wishing you good health Fil!
I couldn’t agree with you more. When I discovered his channel years ago ,it was his level of honesty and integrity that he had,not to mention his experience with teaching and his unique ability to reach so many different genres. He’s stayed true to himself, and he’s very honest and upfront about sharing everything with us. I have immense respect for the way he touches our hearts . Yes you are right, amazing humility and I know my fellow Wingers here feel the same way. ❤️👏
Hi Fil So sorry to hear what you went through and the hospital was great in treating you well. Pleased that you are on the mend and take it easy for a while, always look forward to your analysis videos. Carol
Give your parents a big virtual Thank You hug from all of us for getting you to the hospital. So thankful you texted them and got the help you needed. Scary stuff!
Fil, rest, rest your voice, and take good care of yourself. Don't hurry to do all your videos before you're fully well. Your Wings of Pegasus Fans will be here when you're all recovered. Get better soon. 🎶
Yes, it’s underrated, but as a child my Father used to say, ‘Sleep, rest, sleep…’ Later after all SORTS of physical injuries I was prescribed pain meds for what surgeries can’t be done (I am proud of what they did fix that doesn’t hurt-a broken hand hurts before they fix it-woah) and, nobody likes to have to take medicine, but I noticed that I don’t get sick anymore, in that, Covid aside, I am always getting that deep sleep straight away-all of which simply means that allowing your body to rest DOES work. 🍲 💧 🛌
"It wasn't particularly enjoyable..." Friend, you have a gift for understatement! So very thankful to God that your parents were there for you and that you are on the mend. Praying that you are back at 100% soon.
Very sorry to hear this bad news, tho I'm very glad yr recovering. Yr health is everything That's paramount now, no need to rush back. I'll keep you in my prayers.
This!👆 SO glad you're better but relapse is real! You're young but 2 respiratory viruses is a lot. This RN says Chill before you return to Rock😊 All the best!
As a retired Respiratory Therapist, I'm glad you are on the mend! Suck on ice cubes and the coolness helps with upper airway inflammation. I had neck surgery and that helped with pain and swelling. The soft tissues of the throat are delicate and gentle coolness, a cool wet washcloth on the throat externally as well helps! Just like you would for a muscle injury except heat is never good for upper airway irritation. God bless!
Then please explain heated humidified high flow oxygen to this RT with 37 years experience? E.g. Vapotherm or Airvo. We use them extensively for COVID patients.
@@bcaye For mucus it helps some. But for swollen soft tissue, no. Ever. Just like it's never ok to rebreath co2. Did you have your patients do that by encouraging them to wear masks? Do you give unnecessary bronchodilators to people with upper airway inflammation and no bronchospasm, or to people with CHF? Do you just do what your told instead of assess your patients? Do you think messenger rna is a Vax? There are push button Therapist's and ones who are patient advocates. Therapist's who won't question giving 15mg of Albuterol to a patient in ER with no resp history presenting with sob. Turns out they were hypokalemic and the 15mg of Albuterol given via neb in three tx's of 5mg Albuterol dropped the potassium to a critical level and the patient went into v fib and almost died! My button pushing coworker did. Just did what they were told. Would you? I wouldn't. Never use heat on an inflamed, irritated upper airway. It increases swelling. That coworker also had 30 + years experience. There is a difference between upper airway and lower airway, or did you skip that class.
@@princev1bes166, wtf is cv supposed to be? No, to my knowledge my patients have never been damaged by anything I have done. I can't see what you are indicating I "admitted" to. If a patient has swelling in the larynx so severe that heated humidified oxygen therapy is problematic, they probably need to be intubated. Mind you, in early April this past year my own brother was admitted to ICU for just such a situation following treatment for throat cancer. An amazing ER doc was able to get a 7.5 ETT in and he was on Propofol, Fentanyl and Ativan IV for three days over the weekend waiting for a trach. I personally secured his tube on two occasions when he came out of sedation until the RN could push some Ativan. They did a superb job and I never pull a Karen at hospitals. I suspect Fil was miserable and feeling very ill, but my experience swimming in Lake COVID tells me that being in ER for most of a day is nothing like being close to death for a week or two. Ya'all sound like miserable people I have worked with who think they know it all and look at patients like a puzzle to be solved rather than a human being.
Fil - Now that you are on the road to recovery, I think you should reassess your work load. Going to sleep a 5:00 am and getting up a few hours later is not enough rest. Don't feel like you have to answer every comment sent to you. Do the two live streams that you enjoy and one or two analysis videos a week. That is plenty. Eat regular meals, relax, and have some fun. If we don't see your smiling face five times a week, we will all be ok. Take care of yourself. Give your parents a big hug for being there for you.
I'm so glad you're doing better! I was hospitalized for a month with covid 4 years ago. My lungs are scarred and it looks like I'll be on oxygen for the rest of my life. But, I did survive and I'm grateful. Please take care if yourself, get plenty of rest so your body can heal, so take all the time you need to heal. We'll be here, patiently waiting, don't rush it.
You're a strong n' feisty man Fil, to have COVID AND the flu, you plundered through it with grace and tenacity. Go down to the sea, Fil, no matter what the weather may be, and breathe deep that sweet healing ocean air, it will bolster your immune system. The great insights that you provide the world are so valuable, you help us appreciate and savor the beautiful nuances of music and the human voice. Wishing you well from Fort Lauderdale, Kevin McGee.
Hello Fil. Take all the time you need. Your health is more important than anything else. We need you here educating all of us plus just being able hear your voice is a blessing. Take care of yourself. We will be here waiting.
If it was covid and there is no definite way to know that , you are now immune . The immunity is for variants as well and will possibly be for the long term . So good things come from catching any virus
So valuable for people to hear from such a respectable person to get to the hospital with symptoms like this- a fever can be fatal with no other symptoms. So glad you got through this harrowing experience. ROCK🤘😃
I am so thankful you and your parents got to the hospital when you did. I just lost my older brother today, and your good news is a pleasant turn to an otherwise rather sad day here. Take your time recast, and heal. We will be here when you are ready. Best wishes from California.
I don’t care how long it takes, we, those of us to come here to your channel because we enjoy your content, aren’T going anywhere! Take care of yourself, we will take care while you’re gone and come back when you’re here❤
Hey Fil, This Yank is so grateful for your health update. Also for your parents who took over and brought you to the healthcare you needed. We all rely on your beautiful music analysis. You have a real gift. Much love. Can’t wait for your return. HUGS!!!
I’m so happy you survived that mess. My friend 38 in what looked like good health passed away. I feel it was because he took too long to get to hospital. Just be thankful your parents took over and took you in.
So sorry to read this. My close friend also died - but she caught COVID in hospital while being treated for something else. It's a really terrible disease, and nobody seems to take it seriously any more.
Thank you for letting your fans know, you are such a terrific guy, so please take good care of yourself, take the time you need to get better. You are amazing and we cherish you and your amazing talents.
Fil as you know we’re all huge fans of you and your channel.. the way you’re open to all types of music.. critiquing it without being critical etc .. you truly are a treasure buddy … wishing you a quick recovery ❤️🩹
Fil … WOW! I had no idea you were dealing with all this. Thank God for parents. I’m sure they were scared to death. I’m sure all your fans on this channel, like me, wish you a complete and speedy recovery. Take care of yourself, we’ll all be here when you get back.
Fil, I'm just learning that you were ill - and I'm so sorry you had such a terrible experience. At the same time, I'm so grateful you are on the mend. Those of us (me!) who've watched and listened to you for any length of time have come to treasure you! You have taught me so much and given me a much better insight into so much of the music I have loved over these many years. As a non-musician and a totally untrained layperson, I love the way you explain things and you make it all so accessible and clear. I love your manner, your spirit, your obvious love and appreciation for the music - your enthusiasm is contagious! I send you my heartfelt wishes for a full recovery in as short a time as possible! But, do take it as slowly as you need to, even though we (I!) will miss you in the meantime. We'll all be right hear eagerly awaiting our healthy, wonderful Fil!! Love!
Me too! You poor guy, how frightening for you. This damn Covid, just when you think it's done and dusted someone young and healthy contracts it. And a double whammy with the flu on top of Covid. Wishing you have a steady full recovery Fil.
I love the dignified way you tell us about your horrible health struggle. God bless your parents for protecting you the way they did. Please take care of yourself out there, you look great but i wish you a full and speedy recovery.
Omg Fil, our precious friend! I’m so sorry to hear this news and the ordeal you’ve endured, but am so glad you’re on the path to recovery. I know I speak for all of your friends here online when I say, please don’t worry about the videos for now. (As you’ve already said you wouldn’t.) There will be plenty of time for that later and we will still be here. Your recovery is what is most important and as you now know, Covid can be brutal and it can take a long time to fully regain your breath and strength. Get well, focus on rest and your health, and do not over exert yourself too soon. You could land back in the hospital. We’ll be watching for your updates. All my best, Justine.
Hello from Georgia in the USA. I’ve commented this before, but just want to say again that you are the kindest person I’ve watched on the internet. I am sorry you’ve been so unwell, and send my prayers and best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!!
OMG 40° C is 104°F. At 41° the whole body shuts down. Thank God you made it through the ordeal. You are so knowledgeable and your content is always spot on. We really enjoy your personality and your style of presentation. Please take good care of yourself. Looking forward to seeing you back to full health. I agree with the person who suggested that you take it easy and avoid a setback. You are worth waiting for!
I had a temp of 41.7 and the hospital didn't understand how I was still standing. It went downhill from there and I spent 5 weeks in hospital. So, i understand how Fil feels.
There have been millions of people who’ve survived higher temps. It’s dependent on all kinds of factors; the underlying issue causing the high temp, general fitness/age of the patient, co-existing conditions (like the flu with Fil), chronic health conditions (diabetes, hepatitis,, etc.) and many more. Of course there are baselines in medical science, but it’s impossible to say that every patient is affected in the same way by illness or reacts to treatment in the same way, either. Just sayin’.
@@windwoman3549 medical professional here. And you are correct. However, any body temperature above 105-106° F/ 45.5- 41° C is dangerous. At 41.7 c/ 107° F is, indeed, urgent and I would, also, be surprised that you were able to stand and walk. Thank G-d that you went to hosp, because that isn’t survivable for more than a few hours. How are you now? I’m sure that was a long and not easy recovery.
No. The body does not shut down at 104°F. Please educate yourself on fevers and why you have them. They are fighting for you to kill off any virus or bacteria. They should never be broken unless your very, very uncomfortable.
Oh my, Fil. I just caught this unfortunate bit of health news, and really appreciate your keeping us updated on your condition. You mean so much to all of us who are your devoted followers because your skill at analyzing all aspects of the music we love enhances our pleasure of it. And, in a world so in need of things that give us some degree of pleasure music plays such a big role. You looked and sounded good, which is encouraging. You are on the mend! What a brutally tough time you must have gone through. Listen to your Doctors, and just get better. We will be here for you, if I may speak for others who love you as I do for your brilliance and kind soul, which comes through so clearly in all your mannerisms and ways of communicating. Rock!
🎸 It is Great to hear that Fil is doing better. Covid is nothing to fool around with. Many people joke about it but my sister's husband died from it and he was only 58 years old. I love watching Fil's videos and I hate to think about him not being able to crank them out for us. I don't have one tiny bit of musical knowledge or guitar playing skills, yet I still watch Fil's analysis videos from start to finish because I like the way he breaks things down so completely. I am a big fan of Fil and wish him a full and speedy recovery.🤘
My son and D-i-L got it in early 2020. Both doctors - early to mid 30s, He was a collegiate soccer player - so strong and in shape. He said "it kicked their ass" fortunately, they could ride it out at home, and no lasting effects.
I’m so sorry you went through that. My heart dropped when I heard how close we were to losing you. Must be love. Speedy recovery. I learn so much from your channel.
I'm so sorry to hear about your health ordeal and glad you are recuperating. From NC, USA and will be looking forward to more of your work as you feel up to it.
Fil, sincere warm wishes for a full and complete recovery. Your work here is the best and most informative breakdown of songs I've ever heard. Rest up, heal up, take all the time you need to get better. No rush, we'll be here for ya!
Fil, I am just getting this update. Oh my gosh, we could have lost you! Don't worry about us at all, don't worry about producing videos. We aren't going anywhere. Just take care of yourself and save your voice. Only put out for us what does not tire you out. I am so glad your parents were proactive and assertive in this whole thing. A lot of us thinking of you across the pond, Stancy
Thank you so much for the update Fil. Absolutely focus on your recovery before anything else. We’re so sorry to hear you have been so unwell, but we’re thankful that you are on the path to recovery. Fil, I want you to know why your channel is one of my favourite RU-vid channels. It’s because of your honest, integrity and authenticity. The way you handle your reviews is with grace mixed with your obvious skill as a musician technically and practically. You are a brilliant teacher. Clearly you must have teaching in your background. Get well soon Fil. Like thousands of others I look forward to learning more from you and being inspired by you, our mentor. Believe it or not, your channel has made a difference in my life and I want to thank you for it. You are in our thoughts and prayers Fil. Dave from down-under
Listen mate .... we aren't going anywhere. You rest up and get your strength back. Super glad to see you are recovering. My wife, heart patient and I both struggled through covid. My sister had it and unfortunately she passed away. What I can say is this. Neither myself or my wife have returned to where we were health wise before contracting this virus and we are still dealing with lingering affects from it, months later. I hope you fare better and get back to where you were. Will be praying for you friend. God's speed to you. ❤
Oh my gosh. Blessings to you and yours. Be well & do take care. Life is precious. Sorry to hear of your sister. I too lost my best friend in April 2020 the start of the covid. Its terrible however life of living well must go on & loved ones passed would want the best upon the journey. Xo
@@starbright1256 thank you so very much. My sister is definitely in heaven. I'm sorry you lost your friend. God bless you too. It hurts but yes we must find a way to move forward. ❤️
Parents are such a great blessing in our lives. We fight back sometimes, but they are more often right than wrong when it comes to our best interests. Glad you are on the road to recovery!
And he ends it with, “ Rock!”. If that doesn’t tell you he’s a real rocker, then nothing will! Fil, thanks for the update. Take as much time as you need to heal. Don’t make the mistake of doing too much too soon. We’ll be here waiting regardless… rather have you back fully recovered, so please take your time. You’re my favorite reactor… far above everyone else, hands down. I didn’t realize it took 6-8 hours to do an analysis… wow. Thank you for your dedication and hard work doing these for us to benefit. And we sure do benefit. I’ve never learned so much about music as I have watching your channel. Thank you so much for sharing your musical knowledge with us!
@@briandillon8041 I agree. He is strong. And young. He’ll be fine. He just needs to take it easy for a little while. Maybe have some of momma’s homemade soup. I don’t know why, but soup tastes especially good when you’re sick.
Oh my god...I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that! Frightening, and for your parents as well, glad that you got the care you needed and that you felt up to making this video.Just take good care of yourself,COVID hit you hard and getting well and strong is the most important thing now.
I'm so sorry to hear of this. I'm delighted you are on the mend. As someone who has an immune related chronic illness I strongly advise you to take as much time as you can to recover. Don't push yourself. Fatigue can be one of the most debilitating conditions and fighting it often makes it worse. Your followers are lovely and will understand. Looking forward to good news of your continued recovery.
I have lupus and hear ya loud and clear on this immune system business! And I concur with you concurring with and um... er? Wait.. is that what I... Sometimes it messes with my train of.. .? L😉L -🌸-🌸- Wishes of good cheer & good health to you, as well! 💐
Thank you for touching base, Fil. Your fever was so dangerously high, I'm so glad that they were able to bring it down and that you're improving. Very scary situation, indeed. Please, take as long as you need to be well. Much love and healing thoughts coming your way...
Glad you're back Fil ! ..(at least in part) hope your continuing full recovery. Had my own 'little bout', isolated, 'immune' tea + Listerine for my throut (really, really helped!) Keep on the Mend, warm suds. Cheers Mate from Canada! 🍁
I'm so sorry to hear you've gone through a pretty scary struggle! Glad you're on the mend. Take your time, be good to yourself and we'll be here when you're well. Healing thoughts for you until then. 🥰
I'm relieved you are in a better place. Your parents acted dilligently to bring you to the hospital asap and it seems that the medical staff saved you. Now rest, take care of that beautiful voice of yours and don't overdo it 💛
Really enjoy your video's young man. Got a reall buzz out of your analysis of Peter Green and Danny Kirwan and the Video on Rory Gallagher. These were among many artists who came to play for us in Glasgow when I was sixteen to twenty years old, back in 69/74 I was sixteen when I first saw Peter's Fleetwood Mac and bands like The Pink Floyd and Deep Purple also. Family were another favourite and some mates saw the Who at Paisley Ice Rink in 1968,I had to wait until 1972/3. As a guitarist in those days and a kid you can imagine what a thrill it was to get a chance to speak to these guys. I can honestly say not only were they good players but they were decent people. Good to see a young person apreciating their talent. Let me tell you, those were thrilling times for us. Hope you make a full recovery, really sorry to hear about your illness.
So glad to see you have weathered a very serious double whammy illness. Your ability to explain what you went thru is just the same as you are able to critique music-with humility and straight forward information. I'm looking forward to your full recovery and watching you smile as you listen to the songs. It is so obvious you love what you are doing-and by scanning the comments-we love watching your videos. All the best
Omg, what a horrible ordeal! Glad you went to hospital and are now on the mend. Please take care of yourself, take all the time you need to get better. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery.
Rest. Don't stress about us or the channel. We want you to recover and feel good. If taking care now means better health down the line, then do what's necessary to regain fully. Don't rush on our account. We'll be here whenever you are ready. We're not going anywhere. ❤
Thank you for updating us. You’ve had a rough battle and definitely a bit more to go before you’re healed. Don’t try to rush it my friend. We’re here for you.
Thank GOD you pulled thru THE WINGS WILL ALWAYS LIFT YOU UP. WE ALL PRAYED AND WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY. YOUR LOVE & THE LOVE WE HAVE FOR YOU AS JACKIE WILSON SANG WILL KEEP LIFTING YOU HIGHER & HIGHER TO FULL RECOVERY. WE ALL LOVE YOU FIL' YOUR THE INSPIRATION 🎸🎙💕
Finally a Comment metioning GOD and prayers. Sending love & wishes is nice for the mind. But he needs people to humble themselves and petition The Lord GOD of The Bible to help his body. Ill pray now for him!
Oh blessings, love and healing to you. Your parents must be so relieved. I am so glad they were there for you. Thank you for the update. Please rest and get better. We will wait ♥
