This dlc is great, I give it a 9.5/10 my ONLY gripes are some areas, whether it be due to them running out of time, or just running out of ideas. Just have straight up have nothing. The cerulean coast and the hidden heroes grave are some of the most lackluster areas in the entire dlc despite them looking the coolest, and yes they obviously have stuff but it’s 90% empty with a few things scarcely spread out. Even on ps5 I get some lag and stuttering on some bosses simply because they have way too much particle effects on their attacks. As for the difficulty, it is difficult, and I think they dropped the ball with some of the difficulty especially with some of the bosses. Camera can be super janky a lot of the time because the bosses are too big, some bosses in my opinion are little TOO aggressive. Commander Gaius needs some hitbox reworks cuz that charge attack is stupid, Bayle at times was way too damn aggressive and the camera REALLY screws you over but do you get what I’m saying? To me a lot of these bosses weren’t methodically difficult it just felt like fromosft said “let’s just make them hyper aggressive and give them giant AOE blasts”, I will admit some of these bosses are def just my shortcoming as a player but at the same time a lot of these bosses just have too many AOE attacks? The golden hippopotamus wasn’t difficult in terms of move set what made that boss a pain in the ass was that they forced you to fight it in someone’s living room when the boss is the size of a whale, camera screws you over for that one too. In general though, the dlc was so densely packed with content I loved it (haven’t even finished it btw)

Definitely a 9.5/10 too imo so far. I actually fought both Gaius and Bayle today. Gaius wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be, although my first death had me say "I'm gonna cook that pig" lol. As for Bayle, I didn't think he was too aggressive, but the fact that he gives you no window to summon and/or apply spells at the start was pretty annoying. I also loved yelling "CURSE YOU BAYLE!" But yeah, the camera has been a problem for people since the gameplay got faster in Bloodborne, and some of the attacks in the DLC aren't any better imo. Considering most games are worth £50/£60 these days, having a £35 DLC the size of a whole game was a treat, and I think people should be focusing more on that

The review bomb actually came from mostly Chinese users and it wasn't because of difficultly, it was because of the anti cheat.

The game is not too diffcult but it is challenging. People who got to level 150 +expected that the DLC would be a cakewalk , but I think formsoft have been really smart with this. They kept it challnging no matter what level you come to it. Is it perefect ? of course not , but they did a great job , the expansion is amazing, no wonder why it took them so long. And the fact they won't add more DLCs tells you that they are not cash grabbers , something to appreciate these days.

This is the first ever souls game ever. I tried and i must have made over 10 new chars and then stuck with one and deleted all rest then ran through the game loved it. The DLC yeah is hard but it's not a bad hard game once you lvl up the sacdutree fragments then it does work. I only just beat the finale boss two days ago. I had to change my build many times to get to a point where I was happy and surviving more. People want to moan but I'm not a expert on souls games but I love this and the DLC and if I can get through it then everyone should.

Colossal weapons and shield/ counter feels the same for me. Sinds the bosses are new but also more agressive (less pauses) if find it more difficult using my katana’s probably. When playing magic I thought I give my self a easy time running though the DLC but magic gave me the hardest time. Most spells witch I liked in base game felt slow and risky. Haven’t yet been able to beat messes using magic.

The only issue I have with bosses in the DLC comes from the final boss. I don't wanna say itd name due to spoilers, but that boss is just annoying and honestly feels a bit random at times since they can spam a certain move or maybe use it once during a fight. Then there's the visual issue where everything is just blinding and covers the screen. Apart from that, I've not had any issues with other bosses besides some camera problems on the bigger bosses or perhaps messmor flames covering the screen.
@chriscastaway
@chriscastaway 23 дня назад
Yeah, I've heard the final boss really overdoes the visuals and the attack spam. I guess I'll see how bad it is when I get to it... unless Fromsoft patches it lol

My only problem so far is, performance issue, this DLC's framerate feels choppy, and sometimes i have to press a button 2-3 times so that it can execute the action, i hope Fromsoft fix this next patch
@chriscastaway
@chriscastaway 23 дня назад
Yeah, it can get pretty frustrating to clearly hit a button, only for the action to either be a bit delayed or not register at all. I also saw issues in the main game where an area wasn't loading and I fell through the map to my death twice. I'm sure they'll fix the issues as soon as possible

@Blurredborderlines 23 дня назад
Look, I've beaten every FS title from Demon's to now and some of their earlier games as well on the PS2, ER does have issues with the difficulty and while you can say it's impossible to "perfectly" balance the game when one of the first enemies that you can run into in the DLC, which later becomes a recurrung boss, is stronger that every single other enemy in the game - and none of this is to even mention said enemy isn't even "hard" when most of the difficulty is it constantly spamming huge damage aoe's and its stats purposefully nerfing all damage to it to the point of making your level irrelevent. That's not challenging, it's just a literal waste of your time outside the rewards they give which are kind of eh unless you somehow have zero build type at level 150+
@chriscastaway
@chriscastaway 23 дня назад
I definitely hate the "boss becomes a regular enemy" trope in these games, especially in DLCs, but I think your point is just reinforcing by what I said in the video. This is the case for literally every Fromsoft game since Demon's Souls 15 years ago. Bosses become minibosses/normal enemies, certain rewards are completely useless if your build isn't made for it, certain enemies have a stupidly OP attack that can 1-shot you and the only way out is to kill it first. The advantage Elden Ring has over the other games is the ability to use Torrent for most of the areas, so you can skip a lot of the things you don't need/want. Just like the main game, it can be an inconvenience for a 1st playthrough, but then you'll know what you're doing for the repeat playthroughs. We'll see how I feel after I finish the DLC, but for now I have minimal issues with the way the DLC is. And to clarify, I'm not saying that ER doesn't have issues with it's difficulty, but "too hard" isn't the issue, in my opinion. I think the issue is that you can get seamless jumps in difficulty and not know for certain if you're supposed to be there. That's the blessing and curse with open world games, though, so I can't fully complain about it
@PuffnStuff117
@PuffnStuff117 23 дня назад
Bad take. This company has gone above and beyond to make a fantastic video game and an amazing dlc. Sure it’s not perfect. Nothing is. That is impossible. People complained Elden Ring was too easy. Now people complain Elden Ring is too hard. It’s a tale as old as the souls games. If it’s too hard it’s just not for you friend, and that’s okay. I thought it was fantastic and easier than I thought. Probably because so many people were hyping up how hard it is.

I don’t really get how you can argue that their reviews aren’t valid. The reviews are subjective. Are you seriously trying to argue that the boss are objectively “not hard”? The director literally said he was trying to make it hard. They literally buffed the players strength.
@chriscastaway
@chriscastaway 21 день назад
I was arguing that the game isn't "TOO hard" specifically. Of course it's hard, and as you said it's a subjective opinion. I just got annoyed at people stating it as if it was a fact. You could argue I did the same here, but the video says "honest thoughts" and I say "I think" and "in my opinion" numerous times in the video

No one is review bombing the game for being to hard I myself was disappointed with it and I do level one runs the last boss is lame most of the bosses are lame tbh the golden hippo is easy af and super lame so mad cause bad doesn’t work here most of the negative reviews are from china saying the dlc runs like shit

Elden Ring CAN be too hard. Not everyone has the same level of skill. Ive played every Fromsoftware boss and this is then only one I quit. The final boss is actually absurd. Generally I found the bosses to just be tedious. Like every single rememberance boss is a roadblock. There are at least 3 bosses harder or about as hard as Malenia. This is unprecedented. I beat them... eventually. But tbh it was nore tedius than fun. Like Id have a pretty good grasp on the boss moveset 30 tries in and then the next 30 is just trying to do it without messing up. Like I know how to dodge all of the attacks. Im just waiting for the perfect run. The 2nd phases on some of these bosses is just a clusterfuck. Also, I found some of the movesets so tight I was basically shoehorned into the same attacks and ashes of war. Like there's no room to be creative or maximize on positioning beyond getting two r1s. Its like they made a good boss. And then instead of tying the bow they just kept adding to it or making them faster or addint another attack
@chriscastaway
@chriscastaway 23 дня назад
I definitely should've clarified when I said that it's not too hard. Like you said, not everyone has the same level of skill, and "too hard" is very much a subjective opinion, and people are saying it as if it's an objective fact. My logic is "if it's too hard, how come people are able to beat it?" Because it's objectively possible to beat, and has happened frequently. I get that some of the bosses can be tedious. One of the bosses I got to just kept coming back and I was like "just stay down already!" But the argument that you have no room to be creative beyond a couple R1's is something you can also say for Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, ESPECIALLY their DLCs, and yet people love them. So I don't get how people are hating this DLC for the exact same reason they loved the others. Obviously, when I finish the DLC, I might have different opinions, but so far I've been loving it. I even went to a certain boss I was likely underlevelled for and had such a fun time fighting them. I guess it comes down to what you want out of these games

Review bombed is a misnomer. It was just a poorly received game. I personally enjoyed the game and I played through Shadow of Erdtree 2x on ng+7... It's too hard... Namely Radahn. Fighting The Promised Consort Radahn feels like how I imagine it feels to play through one of those unbelievably hard player made Super Mario Maker levels designed specifically to be impossible for normal people. Most of us have jobs and families. Life is too short to be spending 3-10 hours fighting a boss in a video game. I LOVE Messmer so much it was a lot of fun so was the Dancing Lion. Radahn IS a bad boss. Its not fun and its not balanced. Messmer is hard, Malenia is hard, Promised Consort Radahn is just bad game design.
