My Husband Has Been Lying About His Debt! 

Geez…very little questions asked about the nature of the business, but a LOT of accusations about the husband.

People in the comments really ignoring the fact that the hubby LIED about 10 thousand dollars and he refuses to discuss the issue and gets defensive when she is rightfully upset about LYING.

So daves got the autoreponse of "whats your household income" and Johns is "whats really going on" lol

Dr. Laura would say, "Get him on the phone now because i need to hear his side."

I don't think they handled the call right. Lots of accusations and assumptions here. We need the husband's side of the story.

Not defending the guy’s lack of transparency, but of course John implies he’s an adulterer or a drug addict. Not sure why that’s so predictable.

6k for overhead is not a lot. They should have asked her what kind of business is it? From 10k to 6k in two months means he's paying it off. Never mix business debt with personal debt.

Sounds like she isn't even involved in the business to know what's going on.

The problem I have is shes NOT part of his business, if she doesn't already know the numbers and was lied to she was never part of it, she left it all up to him OR he purposely kept her out of it but either way they are not on the same page and he felt the need to lie to her instead of hear her complaining lol, it wouldn't be the first time a man lied to his wife to avoid a fight...hey need to start over together in everything...Forget the past forget the lies and work together on it ALL...

This was the final straw for me with John. His assumptions or “feelings” usually are not correct. And the callers have called him out on that several times. I really think that was extremely exaggerated. It is extremely easy for a small business owner to not have focus on finances if they are not good at it and “find a way to make things work” and get back on track. All that to say I don’t think John is a very good personality due to his lack of assumptions which overtake his guidance to the caller.

Dang. That escalated fast. Went from hubby incurring some debt to run the business to Delony pushing her into "I don't feel safe at home, I don't feel safe in my marriage." Whatever happened to "First, do no harm." Deloney planted ideas in this wife's head that probably should not be there. Agreed, this couple needs to sit down and have a heart-to-heart conversation, but to go straight to "Oh my God, Financial Infidelity" opens up a can of worms that perhaps should not be opened. And to the wife: if you run out and broadcast your laundry on a random radio show, perhaps your husband is correct in not confiding the inside workings of the business to you. It's a two-way street darlin'.

Be honest if Dave Ramsey didn’t brand these personalities you wouldn’t listen to a word they have to say. I find myself coming to these videos less and less.

Dr. Delony shouldn’t be putting the craziest ideas in her head. Simply put, the dude is soft as a pillow and gives too much simp energy.

lady quit her corporate job and he is sensitive about money now. well, you don't say... go back to work then lady. when did Dave say to start his baby steps by quitting your job so you have less income? anybody cite that page in his book for me? ridiculous. by the way, businesses run off debt and cash flow often. is 10k one month and 6k another month unusual? quarterly balance sheet off? expenses for a quarter are what? quarterly taxes unusual? accounts in arrears? does she even know the business accounting? regardless, that's a failing business at worse. does baby steps even apply to their business finance vs personal? are these even comingled? she's a quitter. he should quit her. !!! like I said, not working out- she should go back to work.

How do you offer advice when you have only one persons side? 6k isn’t even that much for this much drama.

How does John know how the conversation went... he wasn’t there. This is annoying! This was one side of a story and John just totally may have validated her thoughts that she created. She wanted validation and she got it. Little do we know the husband was trying to protect his wife who is home with two small kids. Geeze people! Overblown

$6000? That's it? Such a level of business debt isn't enough to accuse a man of infidelity over.

All of the butthurt men here saying that John is always against men, are probably hiding mistresses and/or drugs themselves. A man who truly loves his wife keeps open financial books that she has complete and equal access to. My grandparents came from an old world custom that the wife handled the money, paid the bills, shopped, saved, and gave an allowance to my grandpa for his activities. Her books are in a beautiful handwriting, and a historical record of prices and consumption during that era.

I think ALLLLL individuals need an secret emergency rainy day fund, (safety deposit box of cash) even if you’re married to the holiest of partners you always have to have a plan B.

We need a Dave not a John. This show is about getting hard truth and a wake up call about debt. Either new hosts or Dave needs to talk to his staff. Let's get back to what we love about Dave's approach.

I usually don’t mind John’s emotional interjections, but sometimes like this time, I feel like he just goes over the top without enough information. It’s fine to do this but I feel like he just makes too many assumptions and then goes on a tangent when he really should phrase things more as questions and THEN get into his advice. He gives solid advice but just dig a little more before you give it. Just my two cents John!

John is the worst. He goes straight to the financial infidelity and makes mountains out of mole hills whether the caller is concerned or not.

If there is dishonesty between marriage partners, especially something crucial like finances, then there isn't really a partnership and the deal is already broken. You have to decide if this is a new deal worth taking but if you take it and your partner is unable to manage the money then don't let them.

Am I the only one that feels sometimes their advice “exaggerates = makes the situation worse than it is” ???

Gotta say....John is constantly talking infidelity on these shows....every time there is a money secret issue, he jumps to that.....hmmmmm. Just makes me wonder why? Why John, is this your go to explanation/concern.

It's business debt. Who cares? He's the breadwinner. It's a tough time economically. Given how you've responded, no wonder he didn't tell you about it. If he knew he could trust you not to freak out, he would have told you but you haven't earned that trust. Maybe try contributing to the family before complaining about your husband on an international show. Get a job.

Is he safe? Does he need to call someone to get help from you? Are you a safe person for him to come to? Does he feel trapped by you and is just acting out bc you are not safe and he feels like you have an iron grip on what he can spend?

A Doctor John has to go off the information he has. B. He is also speaking from experience C those who watched this until will realize he changed his way of speaking when she meant that he was feeling pressured to keep the family business above ground

Women do this all the time. It's called lying through ommission. "Our business" yet she has no clue about the finances. 70% of the time a man becomes unemployed or has a business failure a divorce happens within a year. I love how Delony said "he did this" he's running a business. She looking to bail her meal ticket isn't as secure as she thought. Stay single wives loyalties are always shifting it's all what you can do for them.

I cannot stand these “Ramsey personalities” except for Delony and Coleman and they’re only good when Dave is there. He needs to stop farming his show out to them.

Yes Jenny it's Financial Infidelity. And now it's a matter of whether or not you can ever trust him again. Some people are able to work past it but I couldn't. I would never trust him again.

Perhaps You put all the pressure on him when you quit your job and none of her words bring up that reality. Most households need both spouses financial effort. Instead of getting all accusatory find out if you need to step up and help your husband financially. Maybe and the husband is struggling now and needs his wife’s support and too proud to ask.

Maybe he doesn't want to admit he's failing? Has she created an environment where he feels safe to express this?

He's lying to you, no need to sugar coat it. You tell him its marriage counseling and open communication or its done. I know all the counters, we have kids, I love him, we've been married for this many years. This is probably the tip of the iceberg dont mince words or play around, he owes you the truth and you owe it to yourself to demand it or real consequences. Good luck.

Am I missing something? Businesses have debt, accounts receivable, accounts payable etc. Lying is something else. I thought baby steps was for personal finance. GET divorced!! Trust is broken
