When I discovered Angelina 3 years ago, music wasn't a big part of my life as it had been in my youth. I don't even remember what the first Angelina song was that I heard because I spent the next 6 hrs listening to her songs. The next morning I picked up where I left off & haven't stopped yet. I keep checking out the new crop of singers now & then, & many have beautiful voices, but they just don't affect me like Angelina does. I can't explain it. She has ruined my appreciation of many artists I used to like.
I'm the same as you. She has ruined my appreciation of other artists. And I also can't 'explain' it. But I will continue to try and describe what could possibly be going on
@@thealanpapier" ruined my appreciation of other artists..... exactly the feeling I got in 2014 when I watched Norway Got Talent and her Summertime performance. From that moment I knew she was something special, very few comparable artists ever. I have been so lucky to be at 2 if her concerts. I have only felt the same experience ever when I attended a concert of the legendary Maestro Ennio morricone. The difference, she was 12, he was 90.......
I discovered Angelina about 2 weeks ago, in the start of December 2020, I don't remember precisely how, probably I was watching a reaction video of her music. Something hit me. What really amazes me is her ability to take a song and make it her own, I guess that is a sign of a great artist. She is able to express the essence of a song emotionally, if the song and its lyrics can convey that (not all songs have that quality). So the song must be chosen carefully. About that ruining effect, Angelina has almost become a gold standard to me how to sing a song, sometimes the original contemporary and even an older artist sounds dull. (We have to remember that there are other people involved in the recording process of a song, especially producers, they may force a singer to sing in a particular way, money in their mind !) It all starts from understanding the emotional meaning of lyrics and melody and then putting yourself into that situation and expressing that. Not an easy task to do, it requires innate capability and especially if you have to do that live over and over again in a concert, it will drain you emotionally, I guess, so there is a danger being an performing artist. And let's not forget the social media, oh boy, what a mess... That being said, not all music has to be highly emotional, you don't need to sing your heart out in a EDM song, just pure basic singing will do. Let all flowers blossom, I would say. Angelina is an enchanting singer and also fun to watch how she performs a song, even in a studio. Binge watching of her videos still continues...
Beautiful video Alan, absolutely shareable, as far as I'm concerned Angelina is an anomalous element, which I have not yet been able to place in a traditional cause and effect reaction, perhaps because I have not yet been able to understand why every time I listen to her, I see her or read what she writes (such as her latest message on Patreon), I'm taken by emotion and involvement. She is like this, somehow she has an idea of life, of people and of love that is transmitted osmotically to those who come in contact with her. ❤️ Thanks also to Athena for the invaluable technical support (but does she like Angelina?)
Yes, RU-vid can make magic and introduce you to the wonderful world of music. All the three Norwegian artists have the ability to convey emotions, but they are somehow playing in different musical ballparks. Angelina has the ability to make grown men cry, and that is a good thing in this crazy world!
Thanks Alan. I’m in the demographic you described as your primary audience - and after a year of listening to Angelina, I find myself still unable to understand how or why this girl has such an effect on me. I’ve come to accept that it’s ok to not have an explanation for something, and that she is just one of those miraculous forces of nature that I’m so very fortunate to have discovered.
@@daveblakely1863 Hi. Yes, very similar. She is amazing and it’s going to be so interesting to me to see how she evolves as an artist in the coming years as she matures.
Angelina Jordan the first time I saw her was on Norway’s got talent she was six years old and she sang I was instantly hooked on that little boys she made me cry at six years of age that time I was iHow grown up man And now I am 76 years of age and when I hear her saying I still cry and get goosebumps I call it I have Angelina -itis you can’t get rid of it it’s there forever
Thanks so much for your ongoing exploration of this amazing and magical young artist. I am 75 years old and like you got hooked watching her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody at AGT. I saw it first on TV. I had never really looked into RU-vid nor did I have any idea that there were people doing reactions to a vast network of different artists. I went in search of more info about Angelina Jordan and I entered the rabbit hole that has consumed me ever since. It has been and continues to be an amazing and rewarding journey. I have told my children and grandchildren that I have narrowed my bucket list down to only one item. When we get this Covid thing behind us I will do everything in my power to attend a live Angelina Jordan performance. The location, the cost and the travel commitments to get there will not in any way get in the way of my witnessing live what I have been blessed to see and hear digitally. Keep up your great work and I will send you my reaction from the live performance so you can share it with others.
Thanks for filling in where you are coming from Alan. As a fellow Angelina rabbit hole affiliated older bloke, I understand completely. I'm enjoying your work immensely and many thanks to your beautiful daughter too.
👍😊❤️, glad you started RU-vid Channel together with your daughter and I’m 62 with 3 daughters about the same age as your daughter 😊 and have been a Angelina fan since 2014 when she sang Gloomy sunday in norwegian talent show 😊 Big hug to both of you from a Big ( 108 😊 kg) Angelina fan from Norway 👍😊❤️
Alan, I am not a RU-vidr contributor, but share your enthusiasm for AJ. What a wonderful and creative spirit! WRT your contributions, Alan, I am drawn to the artworks on your wall! I would love to know more!
Thank you Alan, I really appreciate and love what you are doing because I am also a big fan of this wonderful human being who is Angelina. P.S. No hard feelings, but your beautiful daughter should be in front of the camera.
Really do appreciate you sharing your experience with discovering Angelina Jordan. Bohemian Rhapsody was the first song I heard her sing also. My wife and I was watching the AGT episode when she sang it; and I will never forget, when the song was over, I turned to my wife and said that was the best thing I’d ever heard. We went on RU-vid and watched “I put a Spell on You”, and then about 15 or 20 more of her videos. Since then I’ve become completely addicted to Angelina and listen to her just about every day. When I was a kid, when he became popular, that’s about all I listened to, then Motown, the Beatles, Chicago, Allman Brothers Band, Bob Dylan and on to the seventies with all the greats. No one has ever had the effect on me like Angelina has, she is one of the most unique vocal artist that I’ve ever listened to. When other singers sing, there are usually the typical highlights in a song that get your attention, however, when Angelina sings, the whole song, every single note is the highlight (I hope that made sense). From start to finish, every line, every note is pure gold.
I don’t know how to edit comments, although after reading my comment, I noticed that I left out the name of an artist I listened to when I was a kid. That would be Elvis Presley.
Thank you Alan ( and your daughter too) for your story about meeting Angelina. I like how reactor Mounalee put it ; " she is a phenomenon " refering to Angelina. Your segments are very enjoyable to watch. Oh ! and those two interviews with Egil and Ivan were so special. Thank you.
Alan, you are a blessing to a widow like me from SOUTH AFRICA. My late father sang tenor in PIRATES OF PENSANCE MUSICAL. I always wanted to learn piano, and learnt to ...throw my voice, from my 2nd voice box(diaphragm). But life changes! Every analysis u have commentated on I know. Thank you, blessings to you and all your family! I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ANGELINA JORDAN SING THE LAST VERSE OF THE MUSICAL..'GOODBYE MR CHIPPS. IN TH EVENING OF MY LIFE BY PETULA CLARK' And I'm sure Petula Clark would love it too. I trust the society Angelina is mixing in, in her gap year, does not corrupt her wonderful foundation years! Blessings to you all and your family in this world that has turned upside down! From CP a rejuvenated 72 year, teenager. Thanks to u! Blessings!
That was an absolute lovely video, right there 💕 🌟 I think I know what you are trying to do. You’re trying to do it in the Angelina way, aren’t you? I kid you not - I have found myself thinking, in everyday-life-situations, “is this the way Angelina would it?” And I think it has actually made me a better person 🤷♂️ Go figure...
Absolutely correct!! I am trying to show a moral integrity which is exactly one of her messages. This is really what she is trying to communicate. I will be elaborating on this in a future video when I discuss... Ancient Persia!!
@@stevek5332 I have considered that. I looked up Shintoism and Buddhism but I couldn't find anything that resonated. But when I hit upon Zoroastrianism, that was a whole other story.....
Hello Alan, I think I’m in the same rabbit hole as you as it was Bohemian Rhapsody for me as well. You are definitely seeing and feeling the emotions that I am unable to articulate as well as you. My assumption is that the stars have aligned for Angelina, and us, in terms of intellect, parenting, grandma, talent, hard work, determination, love, happiness and many others. A gift. Thank you for your page, it is greatly appreciated. Age 55 by the way.
Hi Frank, Unlike most people, I didn't come across her Bohemian Rhaps through AGT. For me, as explained, it was just random internet surfing. Unfortunately, my RU-vid career is causing me to become an imsomniac. I lie in bed at night thinking what I should add to my next video. Then I rush downstairs at 5am to write down notes. (I'll take preparation over spontaneity any day)
Thank you Alan very much I really appreciate what you’re doing ..... What a great reaction it’s nice to see your daughter is helping you too... so thank you both....
I don't have any idea what makes a person the "best" singer on the planet. Maybe, technically, that title could go to Dimash. I'm a huge fan of Morissette Amon for many years. I've been an Angelina fan for about 4 years. I've watch all her videos many times. Yesterday, after watching her perform When We Were Young (Adele) for about the nth time, I watched again Adele's performance (which has > 548 million views). It was very puzzling because Adele's version is so beautiful, emotional, and well-sung. I was touched by the performance, as usual. It even entered my mind that Adele's version was "better" in some way. But, it didn't touch my soul the way Angelina's did. Also, notice Angelina's reaction to the standing ovation at the end of her performance. She was obviously touched and did not expect it. There's something going on that I still don't comprehend. It's not really important that I understand but it would sure help when trying to explain it to someone who hasn't experienced AJ. Or, if I'm foolish enough to try to rebut a "vocal coach" who is picking apart her performance and seems to be immune to the affect she has.
I loved your experience listing to Angelina for the first time, pretty much my experience, however my first song was Unchained Melody when she was younger. I have given up trying to understand how she connects emotionally, and simply accept I love her much like a parent.
We live in this 3D world of duality of space; yet when we hear, experience something really special and those vibrations resonate with us, we want to experience it again and again. To me, this is an example revealing we are multidimensional beings, not just 3D organic beings reduced to atoms. We are spiritual beings and AJ ‘s music opens up our inner doors. Her music transcends our intellect, it connects to our essence. Angelina Jordan is an angelic singer that helps us escape our personal struggles in this difficult world.
Believe it or not I can't even remember how I discovered Angelina Jordan all I can tell you is it was earlier this year and I have already listened to all 132 of her RU-vid videos
I fell in love with Angelina Jordan's music, but you are why I turn to your channel. Your original conception, ideas, insights and presentation are thoughtful, interesting, fascinating and pleasurable making all of us look forward to your next posting.
Thank you. That's very kind of you to say. My approach to life is very simple. If I see a rock, I lift it up to see what's underneath it. And I then try and describe it. Likewise, a shooting star
Alan, Okay, I see what happened. You wanted this one to show up and save the other other for later on. Well. this one was fantastic. I follow so many reactors and I focus on their reactions to Angelina's videos. In regards to Bohemian Rhapsody, some reactors who are genuine voice coaches and know their art very well became speechless when the video was over. And, even with editing, they were honest to tell the audience they were stunned and couldn't talk. I've said this many times over but I will say it again because it fits here perfectly. And, Alan, you a perfect example of what happens to someone when they hear her for the first time. Our heart hears one note from Angelina and without hesitation it grabs hold of Angelina's voice and will not let it go. It knows it has found something beautiful, so beautiful that your body warms to her. You cry, your brain is frozen because it hasn't figured out what is going on. Alan, you went through stages before you broke down. I couldn't make it past "My time has come" without totally breaking down. It took me a couple of days and at least 10 tries before I could get past "My time has come." You are such a wonderful addition to the "Angelina story" and we should all say thank you to your daughter for talking you into this.
Thank you, Alan and Athena, for this channel. It brings such interest to my obsessively watching Angelina and her reactors. Your thoughtful insights and responses touch me and align with my own. Keep doing what you're doing! So much appreciate it.
You are speaking to me when you highlight the emotional effect Angelina radiates across the RU-vid universe. Over time I have noted the overwhelming number of us that have fallen under the spell of this incredible young lady. For me the Angelina experience is both audio and visual. I have listened with closed and open eyes and it's the later that brings on the waterworks (a reaction that I would encourage one to investigate).
I've been investigating with 20 videos. But at the same time, it is trying to explain the inexplicable. The delight is in the journey; not the destination Our emotional world is subject to the chaos theory when we least expect it
I enjoy your analyses and observations about Angelina. I'm over 80 and have similar reactions as yours. I really appreciate the research you do comparing her work with others. Keep up the good work!
A funny story (hearing aids and chamber pots hahaha) and very relatable. I suspect that many older adults have gotten sucked into YT rabbit holes of younger performers, starting out sheepishly and finding a lot of enjoyment both in the music and in the communities that spring up in YT comments. Keep up the good work.
Dear Alan, A very touching revelation here on how you got to know and become an "Angel". Very evident is your genuine love for this very talented young lady and (without any other agenda) just going out of the way to support and bringing AJ to everyone. During the start of the Lock-down, I too stumble upon AJ on RU-vid performing Bohemian Rhapsody. Somehow without reasons got teary eyes too. Even now after many repeat hearings (also for some of her other songs) can feel my eyes welling up each time. My very first venture into RU-vid then had been seeking out another young opera singer prodigy Amira Willighagen who had just won Holland Got Talent. Could not get enough of her covers then and came across a commentator saying in passing to watch a Angelina Jordan. Regrettably, did not get to do it then.....but now I am very deep in a rabbit hole. Thank you very much for being so upfront and your relentless effort in supporting our dear AJ. Best regards.
Good to see another video from you Alan. Bohemian Rhapsody was my first exposure to Angelina as well. And my reaction was very similar to yours. I was watching AGT. I replayed her performance at least a dozen times that evening. Every time she went up through that belt it tugged at my heart and choked me up. Every time I watch it. It was like a drug. I had to keep watching. I really want an expert to explain this phenomenon she has on men over 50. We are not alone for sure. I’m in The Shield fan club on Facebook and there is a bunch of us that feel exactly the same. It’s like the people in Close Encounters of the Third Kind all being drawn to the same place. Lol. Million Miles does the same thing to me. Love your daughter’s name Athena. Awesome name. One of my favorite Who songs
Actually I will be recording my in depth analysis of 'Shield' this week. I've been collecting my thoughts round this one for 3 weeks. Probably published the week before Xmas
@@thealanpapier I have seen someone comment that they think the video produced by her grandmother was political because of the money surrounding Angelina and grandmother is Iranian. I don’t think that’s the message she was sending with the money. I’ll let you consider that in your analysis. Heading to bed. Late here. TTFN
I remember that day in July 2022 when I found Angelina. I was watching AGT (Courtney Hadwin) and happened upon her bohemian performance. I was stunned. It totally overwhelmed my emotions, this began 8 hrs a day for the next 4 days, listening to and reading everything about Angelina. I've never been more interested in a singer than her.
I really appreciate your devotion to Angelina Jordan. I sincerely hope your efforts boost her career, as I think everyone needs to be exposed to her music. I think she will hook many listeners, as she has you and me and her thousands of fans. I’m beginning to think there is a rebirth of quality music of which she is at the forefront. My only concern is as you stated the number of us who in are 50’s or older. I hope we will share her music with her children and grandchildren, and they become enraptured as her fans are. I really believe given the freedom, she can help restore peace and tranquility through love in these troubled times.
Alan I've just discovered you, today and I've already made two or 3 comments..but sir I'm enjoying the trip you are taking me on into the spittaculer life of Anglina Jordan'...
Well...thanks for the background story...I have come to expect that your reaction/review/commentaries will be detailed and quite erudite, if I may say so. I am 78 years old, so I fit into your 55+ group. I am also somewhat well educated, I have two Masters degrees, one in Anthropology and one in Linguistics. I have in my time followed many musical genres, rocknroll, Dylan/Baez, folk music, jazz and finally the classics. I skipped over the 80's and beyond...I could not reconcile myself to pop or rap. So when I began to hear Angelina sing the kind of classics from the 40's, 50's, and 60's, my interest was aroused. And when her resonant, emotional renditions touched my heart and soul so much that I had tears in my eyes over and over...then I knew I had found someone special. So I share and endorse your efforts...I would like to give a shout out to your daughter (a beautiful girl...)for helping you in your efforts to be a "You-Tuber". I do enjoy your efforts very much...
Hi Alan.I discover Angelina about more or less a year ago.You see i was watcing the big shows just to hear for some intereating versions of the songs because as you know all the grate or not performers they are starting singing songs from other singers trying to make a career sometime. Then in a suggested video from youtube i saw a tiny little girl in white and i press the button and the bomb explode.I search for other videos of young singers because i liked the viriety of the songs they were singing. It was very interesting but the things i don't like is that most of the times i felt like their parents want to 'make' career from the young ones. You know what i mean.Searching, watching videos i step up on a video wich i 'call' the boss.Screaming Jay Hawkings I put spell on you.And i said to my self what a wonderful world.I watched almost all her videos.I watched videos from voice teachers who they know the details and the complexity of her vioce and i said it's not my ears but somethig wonderful is going on.I liked your videos with the comparsion of the same song with differend performers.Keep doing what you do.I must stop here because i can write a book for Angelina.AΘΗΝΑ- ATHENA the godess of wisdom it's a Greek name.Hi from Greece
Puzzling lyrics in Million Miles: "I'm not alone to fight. I'll never give up what I do." She uses the word "alone" 11 times! As with my earlier comments about Shield, she seems to be under some pressure, perhaps internally generated, that makes her feel the need for more protection and support than she appears to have. Makes me wonder if her absent father needs to take a more active role in reassuring her since the love she has experienced from her grandfathers, grandmother, mother, uncle, sister, and fans has not been enough.
Your daughter is gorgeous. I appreciate what you do. It helps me get a clearer picture/better understanding of Angelina and her music. Thank you and your daughter for your videos, your opinion, and all the time you put into this. It really is appreciated.
I have been around music for a very long time, and you reactions are the best, I have perhaps watched 25 or 30 reactors , who seem to have very limited music knowledge , keep up the good work
Just scrolling around and had to stop here. It was great fun listening to your story, again, about how you discovered Angelina. Alan, what's so extraordinary is that even after we have gotten to know her , and listened to her more and more, our feelings are even stronger towards her than ever before. Thanks to your daughter you have established a platform in which to introduce Angelina to new viewers and entertain established "Angels" along the way. Continue your labor of love. I appreciate your efforts very much.
Yes, it's a labour of love- but also great fun. I never could have imagined this much fun when I first started. I've had fun hobbies before but this is totally different. My priority has been to give many different windows into why she is so unique and extraordinary. The result has been to showcase and promote her talent. And I receive a lot of appreciation from her fan base- which just makes it all the rewarding.
Hats off. I am a music lover my self but mostly in to classical music, and when it comes to singing; nobody can compete with Jussi Björling (my opinion). I stumbled over Angelina and her ingeniuos version of Bohemian rapsody in AGT, and my hart was stolen. I to have a loved daugther and was thinking it played a part in my reaction to this little girl. I tryed to make people around me awere of this young talent, but as they say; - You can lead a horse to water, but you can t force him to drink. I am so looking forward to what wiil become of her. From no on ,I am a follower. So, please keep at it.
Beautiful video, Alan, and let me tell you my meeting with Angelina: It was late 2018, in October to be precise, 6 months after my wife passed away. I was watching Mr. & Mrs. Smith's movie and found that both actors, Brad Pritt and Angelina Jolie, were very much in osmosis in it. Since I'm a very curious man, during the movie I pick up my smartphone and start looking for an answer to two questions I had: 1) Was it the first time they met? 2) Did they get into a relationship on this occasion? Thanks to the predictive feature of its search engine, it started to give me, as it always does, a list to my query based on my started typing "angel" with first entry in the list "Angelina Jordan - I Put Spell On You"! Therefore, after the movie, I was extremely curious (again 😄) about it and started to view/listen and afterward look to anything I could find about the artist and the song, letting my night be veeery long: That's how I was trapped in the rabbit hole for my greatest pleasure!🤩 Oh, btw, the answer to both questions is yes. 😉
Hi Alan . I have a similar discovery story of Angelina, hearing her for the first time ever, singing Bohemian Rhapsody. I am in my mid-seventies. Am curious, what does your daughter think of Angelina's singing and what your daughters friends think about Angelina.
I guess I'm in the minority as I'm a very very young 44 :). Bohemian Rhapsody was the first song of hers that I heard as well. I will never forget it. I could not believe what my ears were hearing. Something happened during that song that has never happened to me before while listening to music, I cried. It was so beautiful I couldn't contain it. I was drawn in right away and I believe the first tear fell during that first run "body aching all the time". I really can't remember the second song I heard, it may have been I put a spell on you but I'm not sure as I spent the next several hours listening to her. I don't know why I was on YT that night as I would rarely be on there. Now I spend about 30-40 hrs a week on YT and about 98% of that involves Angelina. I shed atleast one tear everyday because of her. I watched a vocal coach/singer react to Bohemian Rhapsody and she was brought to tears and said "I can't musically explain why I am feeling like this". That quote sums it up. It goes beyond music with Angelina. Thanks for reading and thanks for all the great videos you do.
Alan, this is my third comment to this video. Previous ones were from 11 months ago and 3 months ago. You now have a Podcast with Pontus and I am happy for both of you. But, Alan, this video should be presented on your Podcast (perhaps edited a bit) because it is full of great content and so many of us can identify with what you brought to the table.
Puzzling Lyrics in SHIELD: "Keep me from danger. Keep me from strangers. Promise you won't give up on me. Forgive me for all that I am. When all my fear's tearing right through my bones". I don't understand where all of this fear and insecurity is coming from since she seems to have a very supportive family and international acclaim. This seems more than normal adolescent uncertainty.
Hi Barry, OK, I see your dilemma. Let me tell you how I see the situation. part of it is just 'normal anxiety' around being a teenager. But then there is also the price of fame- and it's a very big price to pay. You find you are living in a goldfish bowl and your whole life is on display and under scrutiny. I won't like to be in that position and it's hard to imagine what it's like- especially for a normal, well mannered girl from a stable family background. When she says, "Forgive me for all that I am", it's very humble because it would appear she has nothing to apologize about. But then she is fully aware that the whole family has picked up and moved from Oslo to LA because of her. That's a very big move and sacrifice on their part and she acknowledges that. Keep me from danger- there are so many sharks in this business
Hey Alan, what is happening? I’ve Daily been looking for you comments to Angelia’s new release. If she realy wrote “million Miles apart” - Them this adds a new dimension to her talent. The lyrics.....
Hi, If you're waiting for my comment on 'Million Miles', you may have a long wait. My next release will be in 7 days. Then 12 days after that, I will release AJ's 'Shield'+ where I mention and put into context all 4 of the songs she wrote in the same video
@@flemmingrnhj5656 Good word-'personal'- I like it. There should be more contact that should be more personal. My challenge is to speak 'personally' about AJ and her family without violating their privacy
I'm soon 85 and verifying your statement about the advanced age of your followers. I'm also alike you fascinated about Angie, the difference being that my tears started to stream after her whispered introduction of the Bohemian Rhapsody, first time, first bar. When I hear really beautiful music i.e. the mezzo Elina Garanca, often I get a tear in my eye when she sings something dramatic from an opera. The difference is that I always start to cry when Angie sings, regardless of what she sings. That's almost criminal, as a feminine reaktor said crying at her on the internet. Angie *is* unique, and I wonder how and why she affects me so deeply. Can her age, she started to sing at 1½ years of age be of importance? A young girl has something extremely touching in her voice; when a little girl is crying out in pain or sorrow it's almost unbearable, at least for me. Can Angie have conserved and integrated in the texture of her voice the special characteristics that makes people feel sorry for a baby girl's problems?
Yes, if you want to keep this uplifting, Alan Papier, absolutely NO chamberpots and hearing aids. NONE. NADA. AND NEVER! Also, "Take a bow, Athena," and she takes the same kind of bow my daughter would take, ROFL! ROFL! Oh, I love a bit of humor to put me to bed on January 8, 2023. Grandma Ellen, out, out.
I do not believe the AJ phenomenon can be explained. But that doesn't stop me from trying to describe things. My views are constantly evolving. I will soon be talking about the ancient wisdom that came out of Persia in 500BC
@@thealanpapier I believe that Angelina has a love for God and a pure love for people. There is a unique purity in her heart accented by her humility. This invisible element is conveyed through her song which touches our hearts and ... the tears flow.
