thumbs up if you wanna see more hair content 🤩🩷✨
benefits (the ones I personally experience from keratin smoothing!🌟)
- strengthen/seal the hair leading to less breakage + length retention
- humidity resistance leading to way less frizz
- styling my hair with a round brush takes half the time vs pre-keratin
- style retention (for a blow-dry, curls, straight hair)
- silkier hair
- shinier hair
❌ trade offs/cons (for me)
- the treatment leaves a slightly red tint to the hair color/lightens my hair half a shade
- can make the hair super flat (that's why I apply it inches down from the root instead of having a stylist do it "by the book" applying from the root)
- hair gets greasy a day or two sooner than usual because the hair is sealed and doesn't absorb my scalp oils (as much)
- initially my hair is silkier than I prefer (I like coarse texture), but this trade off is worth it for the benefits ^ until the keratin starts to wear off (3 months later)
- it isn't pleasant to actually do the treatment due to time (and smell of the keratin vapour)
IF you are considering this treatment: please keep these all in mind and do some research on different hair textures to find out if this may be beneficial for you too 💗⭐

This particular Keratin Treatment has formaldehyde (as do most of them) a group 1 human carcinogen with proven health risks(uterine cancer, breast, ovarian, nasopharyngeal cancer, leukemia). The FDA as already decided to ban formaldehyde in hair care products and there are significant awareness campaigns going on regarding this. Putting this out there for people to do research before buying this

Make sure the Keratin treatment doesn’t have methylene glycol in it or your hair will literally smell like farts whenever it is damp, wet, or when you sweat the first month. I’ve been trying to find the best formaldehyde free treatment for a while now 😫

@sorenmn6799 Месяц назад
TLDR; I’ve done keratin in salon for 10 years now, it doesn’t damage my hair. I super love it BUT do not recommend you to do it yourself. Long post ahead: I’ve been doing in salon keratin treatment once a year for the past ten years now, so after watching the video and reading the comments, I’d like to share my experience with it. These are all the things I learnt from observing the hairstylists, talking to other customers who also do keratin (if you’ve never done it, the treatment lasts from 3-5 hours) and from seeing the science develop for all those years. First of all, before doing the keratin treatment on someone’s hair (or yours), you need to be properly trained and certified by the companies who supply these products to your business ie. L’Oreal. It’s a super complicated process and the chemicals in these products are super strong, so everything you need to know about using the product, you only learn from attending these professional hair seminars. It’s not just as simple as apply the treatment, and iron your hair. It goes way beyond that. If you don’t know how to do it properly, you will either a) damage your hair, or b) find that the treatment does not work. Hence, I do not recommend people to do it yourself. I saw a couple of comments about formaldehyde-free products, now that I think of it, I’m not sure what sort of chemical is in the products, but it’s definitely strong (that’s why Alexandra advises to wear gloves), but in 10 years I did the treatment, I’ve never had a problem with my hair. I’ve definitely tried the “organic” one (which doesn’t contain the strong chemical and say, “formaldehyde-free”), but it’s more expensive than the chemical one and it only lasts until two or three washes. The chemicals that are in the professional keratin treatments are definitely safe to use and for me it lasts for six to seven months. But even as the treatment fades away, your hair will still look fine if you style it the way you want it. The longest I went without keratin was just once recently, in the range of two years cos I moved to a different country and wanted to see what would happen if I don’t do it (what happened was my hair is fine if I take time to style it properly, but not as manageable as with the treatment). The last time I did it was two months ago when I went back to my hometown. Some observations from the video: Alexandra said the chemical has a strong smell and you’re not supposed to get your hair wet. Yes, the smell is intensely strong and you’re not supposed to wash your hair…….. if you’re using products with outdated formula from 10 years ago. The first two times I did my hair, the hairstylists advised me not to wash my hair for three days after the treatment, and yes, oh my god. THE SMELL. It lasts so long, but that was so many years ago, and after that the formula has been improved and you can wash your hair anytime you want. I did get my hair wet when I did the treatment recently cos it was raining, but my hair still looked smooth and untouched. 10 years ago I got my bangs wet before the three days was up and it went back to its previous condition before I did the treatment. And also, the new formula all salons around the world are using now doesn’t smell as strong. It is noticeable, but faint and goes away after a day or so. Another gripe I have about this video - she leaves the keratin on and straightaway flat irons her hair. Knowing how keratin works, you DO need to wash out the keratin after it has been absorbed to your hair. How the cream works is, you apply it on your hair, and then after the product has been properly absorbed, you wash it out and iron it to seal the products in. Before you wash it off, you need to make sure the product is absorbed well and that’s why you need proper knowledge and training to do it. It’s not just “wait 15 minutes then wash it off.” Nope. My hairstylists always do a strand test before washing the keratin off, and the time they left it on will vary depending on my hair condition that day. And leaving the treatment on is so tacky, especially that she mentioned the smell is strong. If you want to walk around with that smell on your hair, go ahead. But just so you know, you’re going to notice the smell, and everyone else will too. Leaving the product on will also make your hair greasy and dirty fast. Then after two days, you have to wash it again, apply more chemicals again, and the cycle repeats. Why are you washing your hair with soap when shampoo is readily available, affordable and is better formulated for your hair? Not too mention products that smell so strong also means that the amount of chemicals used in that product is VERY high. If you’re not careful, it will irritate your scalp AND damage your hair too. You do not want to leave that sort of chemical in your hair for two days. If it’s okay to leave the chemical on your scalp and hair, why do you need to wear gloves then? It should be safe for your hands, especially if you’re leaving it on your scalp and hair. Please consider this before using the treatment the way Alexandra demonstrates it in her video. Okay that’s longer than I expected but I really want to share my experience and knowledge about this, especially for those who are curious and wants to try keratin. Thanks for reading, and whatever you do, I hope you’re happy with the results :)

@tta1390
@tta1390 День назад
@@ladycrowley1413 I started watching videos of Brazilians cause a lot of them do it at home. It’s not called keratin there but a Progressive. I used Myphios hair Botox to start. It’s not as strong as a progressive but it’s gentle enough to get your hair straight without burning your scalp and making your hair fall out. Then after a few months I moved to a progressive from the same brand. I also used a neutraquimic which is like a shampoo or product you put on your hair to stop the chemical reaction. Cause I noticed the main reason hair falls out from the salon is cause almost all of them don’t wash the product out the hair fully so the chemical is still processing on your head even after you go home. It’s even worse cause they tell you not to wash your hair 3 days after the treatment. Even when you use shampoo the chemical is still processing so using a neutraquimic will stop the process immediately and your hair won’t fall out. Lastly following a capillary hair schedule. Which means rotating different hair masks: Hydration, Nutrition and Reconstruction. Use a hydration treatment then a nutrition treatment the next wash and keep going like that. Make sure you wash your hair at least once or twice a week and only use a reconstruction treatment every 15 days. That ensures your hair stays strengthened and nourished so it doesn’t break and makes it look like those Pantene commercial hair. I’d recommend if you want to do it yourself to start watching Brazilians on RU-vid you can use captions to translate but they have the longest and best keratin treated hair. Ngl it’s a process but I noticed when I did this my hair grew much faster than before I even had a keratin treatment. It never grew past my shoulders and after a year it’s down my back

I have curly hair with crazy frizz. I did this treatment like eight years ago, salon quality. it was so amazing to wake up with good silky hair. No frizz, no crazy bed head. I remember that I got weird yellow dandruff. Then after a month, my hair started to fall like crazy and I lost like 70% of my hair. I was miserable cuz I liked how my hair looked and felt but at the same time I was balding😂 I went to see a doctor and she told me that most likely I had a bad reaction to it. Such a shame cuz it was great😔

@Jst2GetBy
@Jst2GetBy Месяц назад
It depends on the brand of keratin treatments. You can find/receive some without formaldehyde, but it's best to research the brand as some companies have been sued for falsely claiming as such if you're worried about that chemical. I personally would gather it's more likely to be a concern if you're repeatedly doing these treatments in a short amount of time and continuously without any breaks. You should be cautious, but please research for yourself as some claims may be misleading or exaggerated. There have been links to cancer in a small percentage of individuals who've gotten these treatments, but I couldn't tell you if this treatment was solely the cause. Many people have no changes to their health either 🤷🏾‍♀️

The results were amazing but I couldn’t take that smell.

@@keekssss I don't really know about all brands out there but most of these "formaldehyde" free treatments when tested were found to have formaldehyde in exceeding amounts. They try to play the "name game" and will reconstitute the same chemicals in a different form to get around it. It's best to do your research. But frankly I think the risks outweigh the benefit by a lot. And yeah definitely a lot more lawsuits waiting to happen.
