The bully is the problem. Not the target. The reason this goes on and on is because instead of fixing the problem, we are expecting the injured people to always pick a new tool. At some point the bully needs to be the one who STOPS.

I agree. This is a form of victim blaming in this video. Compare this to sexual harassment which is a form of bullying. Harassers don't stop that easily if at all until the schools put a stop to it.

Most of what he says is true. But even this doctor has not addressed the number one issue that helps your child to avoid becoming a target for bullies. True Self-Confidence is the number one way for your child to avoid becoming a target. Be forewarned though. There are two types of self-confidence. One will help to protect your child. The other will make him a target. One is based upon accomplishments. The other is based upon compliments. The first one is True self-confidence. The second one is false confidence. Self-confidence based upon compliments will almost assuredly make him a target.

Bullying IS a school problem. Schools have anti-bullying policies in place. A good school has a zero tolerance approach to bullying. I’ve worked in such schools. You deal with the bully and if they don’t stop bullying other children you expel them for a day, week, term, etc. In the U.K. we will expel bullies. The U.S. seems to have a more liberal approach to bullies. If bullies aren’t being dealt with I suggest parents remove their child from school until the problem is addressed. Allowing bullies to get away with their bullying only creates bullies that grow into adult bullies. Don’t put up with bullying, period.
@logeyperogi1805
@logeyperogi1805 2 года назад
BOOOOOOO Let the kids fight You wanna know why bullying is a problem? It isn’t because the schools don’t have consequences for bullying, it’s because bullies don’t give a shit about the consequences, but if they realize they’re not gonna be able to bully a kid because that kid can fight back, the bully will most likely back off You may not like it but violence gets results without screwing over any one’s futures either (because if you’re expelling kids then they’re education gets screwed up and that’s not good for anyone)

What the hell is this? When you are dealing with a psychopathic kid, there is nothing to be done but violence or the threat of it usually works. The bullying stops only when the bully knows he Will be physically Hurt if he continues. Thats it. But, you really must be convinsing, psychopaths are very good at reading peoples weaknesses. You must be serious, very serious. And you must deliver. If protecting your Child means prison time, you must be ready. This is literally the situation. No pampering, no talking, action! Some childrens lives are permanently destroyed by these bullies. Do you want your Child hanging from a noose bacause of bullying or do you spent a year In prison for aggravated assault? Im not joking. This is serious.

My kid got bullied in school, he's a good kid that doesn't like trouble, I tried telling him to go to the principle to talk to him, I got a nod that it says "sure" but I know he wouldn't do that, and that people responsible for kids, they do nothing, I told him, to give a clear red line and make a stance, but you're right that would make these kids even angrier, I'll go to talk to the people responsible and I got a feeling it won't be the last time. I just want him to be able to defend him self in the future.

His approach is unrealistically optimistic. Bullies back during his time might've been easier to deal with, but with social media and the circumstances that kids are brought up in now, bullies are far more vicious. Bullies are not going to care if your kid has self confidence or not, they'll simply pick someone to vent their frustrations on just due to slight physical differences or if your child is one of the smallest in his/her class. As a parent, sure, teach your kid social skills and kindness, but at some point you need to step in and get the school to fix the problem, or get your kid to a different school. It sucks, but it's better than having your kid bullied for years and years. It will be years and years, because if the bully is in your kid's age group, they're going to stay in that age group for years to come.

Usually the best way to stop bullying is to, get the majority of the school on the bullied person's side, yet not in a way that bullies the bully, bullies are unusually sensitive people, if their feelings get hurt the more mean they get, sure they feel that they could torture someone else endlessly, yet if they are teased in the slightest, they loose their minds and act insane. I don't know your Son's situation, so not sure what might work best. Search youtube for "stand up against bullying alan", to see my playlist, many ways to stop bullying, and to prevent it in the videos. I am making some of my own videos for it. Prevention can stop most chances of bullying from happening, a lot of schools are not putting any real effort on prevention.

You will never get an alert that your student is being bullied. The school will do everything to deny that. Josh then said "his friends" Up until high School often it will be girls who do the bullying. Also It is absolutely false that your kid has all the tools to handle the situation. He states that bullying is done to get an emotional response. This is simply not true in many cases. One example is that often a bully will bully to gain attention or credit from an audience or their friends, that has nothing to do with an emotional response. Another example is when bullying is done with the intention to make a video and post it on social media for attention, again that has nothing to do with a bullied persons emotional response. In fact in a way he is victim blaming by suggesting that a bully victim has all the tools to prevent bullying. If he or she is still being bullied, is it their fault? I understand what Josh is going for, however he is simply wrong. Bullying for kids most often occurs at school, therefore it becomes a school issue. There is very little that is positive in this video. Please look elsewhere for help with bullying, Josh seems out of date on today's bullying.

Not sure how your kid can be calm and kind 100% of the time or it won't work. Isn't this requiring a kid to be a saint, to be someone as spiritually mature as a person who has been reading the Bible for years, praying and experiencing the cross for years? And you may rehearse for ages, but when the situation comes and a bully says something unexpected, your kid fails and it starts over again as a vicious circle.

@@stefneespringnursery7948 I’ll give you some simple advice as someone who used to be bullied (physically and emotionally) Teach your kid how to fight, whether that be boxing lessons or just at home practice I’m gonna tell you this simply, bullies view their victims as weak, because the victims are too scared to stop the bullies, and when the victim goes to an adult like a teacher or the police (please do not go to the police, they can’t really do anything that will protect your child), the bully will view that as weakness and the bullying will get worse It’s only when your kid teaches their bully a lesson that the bully will realize “Oh crap, this kid is serious, I better not mess with them” because nobody wants to mess with the kid who’s willing to fight Why would a predatory animal go for the weaker members of a herd? Because they’re easier to bring down, don’t let your kid be the weaker member of the herd And I know you might say that violence is never the answer, but I’m gonna ask you this plain and simple Would you rather have kids be afraid to hurt your child, or would you rather they continue doing so? And the school will go against you on this argument, but at that point just work around them, bullies don’t care about the rules, they don’t care about consequences and so the only way you’re gonna deal with them is by playing their game and winning

I was new at this school and a whole gang would provoke me. I fought the gang leader finally and his palls intervened right away to make sure I didn't give him a beating. These guys never bullied me again and I thought that I should have fought back much earlier. Sadly one of the bullies committed suicide not long after leaving our school and the one I fought died young after attending a school reunion where he was confronted by several people he bullied. He denied any wrongdoing but we could see that he was ill at ease.I am not suggesting any Karmic retribution just saying that I think that both were not well balanced and certainly not happy.

“Ignore them and they will stop” is a huge LIE!!! Bullies *NEVER STOP*!!!!! The only way that bullying stop is to get out of the bullies’ environment, like go to a new school. My parents were in denial that my brother, sister, and I were being bullied at all. In their eyes (this was mostly Mom), they believed that we we’re so nice and sweet that there’s no way anyone could be bullying us. However, that’s the precise reason we were bullied-because we were nice and sweet! Dad would just tell us “kick them in the ass” without teaching us *how* to do it, so we failed to fight back effectively. The only way it stopped was to move to a new school, where the bullying dropped a lot. It’s Mom’s denial that still gets to me. I cried for hours and hours at the kitchen table about all of it. How could she not believe me? Were my tears liquid lies? Was I delusional? She didn’t believe me, and she only started getting a clue when a kid pulled a knife on my brother. That got us transferred to another school at last. Words are knives, but they are invisible, so I wasn’t really being hurt. What the heck was her disbelief and denial all about? Why was I not believed? It’s only when my parents were into their 60s that they understood, way too late.

No, no it doesn’t Enroll your kid in boxing lessons and let them go beat up the bully, when the school calls you in to discuss a punishment for your kid because they will, tell the school off, let them know you’re not gonna punish your kid for sticking up for themselves If the school suspends your kid, take your kid for ice cream (or any treat really) I’m not trying to encourage you to make your kid a violent psycho out to kill bullies and rule the school through intimidation, I’m telling you that bullies don’t care about consequences, they don’t care about the rules, that’s partly why they’re bullying, so the best thing you can do is help your kid beat the bully at their own game

@@logeyperogi1805 if the bully is not physically violent, violence is not an option. The child may end up in juvenile center. So yes empower them for physical altercation, but violence is not an answer to emotional bullying.

So here is my question, my son who is on the ASD who recently had a student walk up to him and throw water right in his. To me, this was enough of an escalation to cause me to go to the authorities. The officer then told me this is a society problem, and my son has a better option to stand up to him by punching him in the face. So this the answer to bullying to become the bully… and that folks is exactly how the flame within Ethan crumbly and Adam Lanza was ignited. They are not ready to address the real issue in society though 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I hate to break it to you, but yeah, because if your son goes to others for help instead of confronting the bully, it’s viewed as a sign of weakness I know this from personal experience, you teach your son how to fight and your son teaches that bully a lesson If you view that as “Becoming the bully” and say “Violence is never the answer” then my question to you is “Have you ever been in a fight before?” Violence isn’t fun, but it has been, and always will be necessary, you can’t avoid that truth, it’s better for your son to go beat the ever living crap out of that bully than for him to come to adults for help or try avoiding the bully, those are signs of weakness, and weakness leads to worse bullying It’s not becoming the bully it’s teaching a lesson, you only become the bully when you go overboard and continue even when the problems been resolved

@@logeyperogi1805 you’re absolutely correct. I have told my son to react accordingly, with that being said my child being on the spectrum has significantly reduced pain reception. Think children who bash their heads for stimulation. I’ve expressed to the school a fight between him and a neurotypical child will not be fair. There was the recent video of the guy who has been bullied but Didn’t comprehend whacking a person over the head with the chair was wrong, very slippery slope unfortunately.

I have a daughter with ASD, and the bullies are other girls. She’s being verbally and emotionally bullied, even at home through the phone. Because of her difficulties in social situations, she doesn’t understand that these girls “love bomb” her, only to make her the butt of jokes and ridicule her in front of everyone. She’s suicidal, she’s picked the skin off her toes and fingers to the point of bleeding, and all she wants to do is go to school, learn, and be accepted. I saw a conversation today where one of the girls said “it’s not my fault I have to use tone indicators on your stupid ass because you’re too dumb to get it”. That particular girls mother even texted my daughter directly…which is completely inappropriate. When parents can’t work with other parents, and choose to involve themselves in the drama, it makes it near impossible to stop. The school can only do so much, and in the meantime I have to hide anything my daughter can use to hurt herself. I wish there was more understanding about kids in the spectrum. We know more now than we used to, but there’s still more work to be done.

This is horrible advice! You dont tell a kid to remain kind and calm 100 percent of the time when they are bullied. And basically telling them to ignore the bully. Thats what bullies like they want to feel powerful and feel that people are afraid or them which is exactly what they get when they know they can do and say anything to a kid and he wont do a thing about it . Don’t ever tell a kid to just ignore it do you know how invalidating that is?

They just give you some real advice that works and cut through the red tape here I'm a 70s 80s child you know side being spanked when I deserve it my dad always told me to defend myself bully picks on me then defend myself and kick their ass. unfortunately that's the only thing that works bullies only respond to violence and most bullies are weak so that's the only way they'll get respect from you and stop picking on you if you tattletale or you know do all that stuff it will just make a situation worse I don't know why the kids today aren't taught this maybe parents are weak I have no idea but these ways do work tell my kids the same thing even at 18 and 15 my kid was bullied when he was 10 years old he didn't go running off his teacher or to resolve issue just like the law sometimes you got to take a long to your own hands I told him to kick his ass stop being pushed around by this kid it worked so parents there's toughen up your kids a little okay they're spoiled enough for their phones and their gadgets and all this stuff make them a little stronger okay.

No, that’s a horrible idea, that’s encouraging your child to run away from the problem instead of confronting it Teach your kid how to fight and when the school inevitably brings it up with you, you explain the situation to the school really simply that you’re not gonna punish your kid for defending themselves and the school better not do it either

Then you can openup up a legal case and other bullies will stop if they see they can get in trouble with police an other authorities

If your kid can’t grow a pair and handle it like a man, and go fist to cuff, the father has failed his child. Fighting is a very important skill to train, from birth to death. These limp wrist’ed snowflake is an embarrassment to men.

Mr. Schaler, you are an idiot. You are a typical parent who thinks that being bullied is a right of passage. You are the type that thinks that "Boys will be boys." This is the attitude that gets children hurt or even killed. Twelve-year-old kids do not have the capability to act like "A Man." It is so obvious that you yourself are a bully. You have some very serious issues that you need to deal with.
@logeyperogi1805
@logeyperogi1805 2 года назад
@@heatherbennett4329 trust me, as someone who was physically bullied on a daily basis, what he said is true, your kid needs to fight back, because curling up into a ball and begging for it to stop is just viewed as weak and pathetic, an even better target for worse bullying The way he phrased it sounded a bit like toxic masculinity but the message is simple; defend yourself, it’s your problem, your responsibility to deal with it
