www.MyLiftStand... - My Lift Stand is an outstanding idea for lifting and working safely under any automobile. My Lift Stand is made to be used with any type of floor jack, and they do not get in the way like jack stands do.
They are great to use for doing any type of work under the car or simply changing the motor oil. Bigger guys that need the extra room will love them.
Lift Stands also can be used at car shows for displaying your car. I also like using them when doing body work for a more comfortable position when working on a side panel.

@myliftstand this would make me interested. My problem is that I already have to use the jack twice to get my super low cars in the air. If I could eliminate one "jack session" I would be all over this

Ahh, that would be dope but the ramps would have to be super mellow slope, like 6' long. Or you'd have to pin em to the floor. May be cool to advertise your idea as a 4 wheel drive model.

I agree with some people that they are not great for most common repairs, but I own a mobile auto repair business and I have been trying to get a set of these. He can't keep them in stock. One great use for them is pulling a transmission out on the ground or doing exhaust work. Also you are lifting from the lowest point of the car so that automatically gives you an additional 5+(depending on car or truck) inches than using any jack stand because those are placed at a much higher point.

@andyhoughtaling6319
@andyhoughtaling6319 4 года назад
@michael j Like I said, it was a joke, and was supposed to be taken light-heartedly. On a serious note though, it would be a lot more practical to jack it up on the frame or on the pinch-weld between the tires, and as close to the tires as possible. That way you can do stuff like transmissions, exhaust, fuel systems, and still would be able to remove your wheels to do brakes, steering, and suspension jobs as well. Not saying it wasn't a clever little build. Just kind of inefficient.

@cmcquaigue
@cmcquaigue 8 лет назад
GREAT IDEA VERY WELL DONE - I don't get the negative comments, these do not replace jack stands! You would still use jack stands if you need to remove the wheel but these allow you to work on the car for chassis/exhaust/transmission etc. Jack stands could crush the sills if not properly placed and would be slower to then adjust the height. The suspension can surely be more trustworthy than a rusted out sill for example. I like also that the cars weight seems to be better distributed onto the floor and would probably feel more secure working underneath plus there are no jack stands (less obstruction) to get in the way when going underneath and scooting back out etc. It also appears that you could get the car higher off the ground than jack stands - certainly if jacking teh tyres you would need to make sure the handbrake (e-brake) is on and the car is in gear or park mode. I use drive up ramps but these only give around 9 inches of extra height and a few more inches is needed for good access. These make perfect sense people!!
@rick343
@rick343 8 лет назад
I agree to many negative know it alls, when you have to work underneath, the more room the better, and jack stands do get in the way when you have to go back and forth, I don't think the nay sayers actually work on vehicles, they just like to pick apart other peoples ideas.

work with jacks and stands for 35 years unlike most designs this is a fairly simply and solid design on an old concept. the locking mechanism would be the fail point and as long as pins are grade 8 there would not be an issue unless wheel combo is super huge so it doesn't fit the stand lowering tire psi would help but then that would be a pain in the ass .. dealing with lowered vehicles I have to use multiple jacks that are for lowered cars and multiple passes to rais a car 2 feet off ground this would make it 1 third the time

I was recently able to see the major use of these stands firsthand. For most DIY'ers, it might not be worth it unless you do extensive work underneath. I own a mobile auto repair business and was able to fully utilize a set of these recently. A gentleman and I used the set to pull a transmission out of an E350 work van. He bought a rebuilt unit and we were doing a straight swap. With the stands, we were able to do it in just a few hours and he paid me well for my time. Having a van fairly high and a transmission jack made that job easy. He may sell his set and I plan to buy them cheap also saving on shipping. It would have been far more difficult on jack stands because you would need to lift the van very high to compensate for the height of the transmission sitting on top of the jack and then you are still not lifting from the lowest point. My friend and I pulled a transmission out of a 2005 C240 4 Matic using jack stands and it was much tighter and made the job take longer. Fantastic Idea for the right people that can really profit from utilizing them.

@danburch9989
@danburch9989 8 лет назад
This does require jacking up each corner twice. If there's a way to drive up onto the lift and still get a jack underneath it to lift the car higher, it would eliminate the double jacking. From the video, it seems to be more stable than jack stands. But it sure beats spending several $1,000 to install a hydraulic lift system. This would probably be most beneficial if you must have the car on the lift for a few days for something like transmission/clutch work or exhaust system work. Obviously not for suspension work.

For tire rotations and wheel cleanings I would just jack the car up the conventional way. This is totally worth it for those that don't have room for a full blown lift and is cheaper than race ramps. Driving on those ramps can be tricky with lowered cars as well. Race Ramps are great but just too expensive.

@David Stone the best way to jack up the car is using 4 high lift jack stands rated at 3.5 ton or more. The car is a lot higher than a normal jack stand but the high lift have a much wider base, making them safe to use. Just for extra precaution, I put all four tires under the car when I'm working under it. This method Worked beautifully on a 2007 Toyota Avalon that needed an oil line replacement. Had to take the passenger wheel off to get to a couple bolts. These stands would have hindered that repair.

Kind of a neat idea, I use jack stands but I can see where this would come in handy for tightening up suspension components with the weight of the car on the wheels for proper ride height. Brilliant! Like having four jackstands under each tire. Ever have a jackstand slip on a frame rail? Yeah. Not a comforting feeling. I love how much room you get. I'd like to see anyone try to push a car off of these stands.

very cool, but theirs one iffy area.... The pins.. All the weight rests on the pins, those pins better be made of some kinda strong metal alloy. the good thing is that once the car is lifted theres no stress on the frame/chassis of the vehicle. the down side is that its useless for any suspension type work.
@19safe53
@19safe53 9 лет назад
There are 4 pins per wheel. That's better than the one pin for Jack stands.

agreed, you understood my concern. most of the time we only see the bulkyness of these contraptions thinking wow looks super sturdy, then theres that one thing that makes the whole contraption fail like a pin or o-link

xevious2501 I can do plenty (agreed not all) suspension work while it's on the ground or up on ramps, I've done front and rear sway bar endlinks and bushings plus rear shocks without even jacking my Trailblazer up, only ever drove up on ramps.

nice! I gota Saleen, and just love when the car is up on a proper lift. I dont like particularly jacking the car up too high with a single jack, thinking ill damage something of even blow a few welds which did happen once 'heard a loud metalic pop. so getting the car up evenly is important.

Yeah great Idea, looks alot safer than jack stands, sits higher and definitely gets the jack stands out of the way.

I use 4 six ton floor jacks, then put the floor jack under the area of the car/truck I am working on. Sometimes, if the tires are off, I will put them under the car. Sorry, I don't fully trust any type of floor jack, you have to have something else under there case they fail. Been doing this for 40+ years and always put safety first.

Seems great for doing stuff under the car but any wheel work, suspension, brakes would not be good. I think I would prefer jack stands overall.

Yeah, I think 90% of the time I'm under the car at least one wheel is off, but maybe that's just my current situation. This would be great for exhaust.

Ramp stands are out there, I've found most cars don't have a long enough wheel base to allow the mechanic to roll under the car between the end of the ramp and the back tires plus they're difficult to use because they don't weigh much and sometimes on some cars when you start up the ramp they slide across smooth clean floors. I like the idea of these but worry about their stability if you're working on something with really stubborn bolts and have to get down on it. Maybe a wider base at least?
@Jingorobeta

That's actually pretty clever. I'd buy it. I'm a little tall, so working under the car with standard jack stands can be a claustrophobic experience at times. This is perfect for that.

I was attempting to buy 2 sets because they are perfect for exhaust work, transmission & transfer case service, etc. The shipping price was a bit high since they are heavy. I still may buy them in the near future.

How much are they? I don't see a price on their website.
@Marc99GT
@Marc99GT 10 лет назад
Alvarez Metal Works Sorry for the late reply. The total was about $633. The shipping was $133. The stands are $500 for all 4. I have a mobile repair business and I can see transmission servicing being so much easier especially on transmissions that are bottom filled due to no dipsticks.
@AMetalWorks
@AMetalWorks 10 лет назад
Ouch. That's pretty spendy. However I'm sure they aren't mass produced over seas and they have to make a profit. However I'd just build my own for that price. However I've invested in spendy tools that allow me to do that lol. Thanks for the response.

$1,200.00 you can buy an hydraulic lift. No floor jack required.
@etamfg503
@etamfg503 3 года назад
Hydraulic ramps are great, except not everyone has a garage. MyLiftStands lift about as high as Quickjacks but they're easier to bring to the car wherever the car is, be it in the garage, driveway, race track, or your buddy's house.

Cool little idea. Just not sure what I would use it for aside from exhaust/transmission work. Every time I have had my car in the air at least one wheel comes off. Guess it would be handy for rear diff fluid change.

They have that already. They are called car ramps. Beauty about car ramps are you don’t have to jack the car up . All you do is simply drive up the ramp and magically the front end moves up off the ground. Wtf
@hcrr7318

You know, I was gonna comment on how shitty these were because we have jackstands (and like most of you are bitching and moaning about) but then I watched the video and realized how much ground clearance you get with these! Anybody that has done transmission work or exhaust work or frame work will see the benefit of these. And I have yet to see jackstands reach this sort of height. Swapping out transmission? No problem. Swapping out motor from the bottom? no problem. If he can incorporate these with some sort of drive-up ramp and integrated jack/lift system, he'll be a rich man!
@etamfg503
@etamfg503 3 года назад
Exactly! A lot of people have never removed a transmission before and don't see the 24" of ground clearance with the MyLiftstand 2-position steel wheel cribs.

This would be perfect for the Mercedes. They are super picky and you have to use the pain in the ass pucks. There are special lifting blocks underneath most cars that use the pucks so you could get two under the tires and have it lifted in half the time. Sure beats sketch jack stands! Let me know when you make them. If they are stamped made in USA, I'll get a set!
