Sovereign Syndicate is a Victorian Steampunk RPG where we play as a nimble minotaur who wears a fancy suit and a fantastic hat, and if that's not enough to make you want to play the game I honestly don't know what is.
The tale starts by selecting a background for our wonderful minotaur character, who is called Atticus, and we have a few possibilities. He could be fighty or witty but we go for spry, mainly because this also means he's a magician. A MAGICIAN MINOTAUR.
Our character awakes in a bit of a drunken stupor but soon has to spring into action to escape a mysterious stranger who seems to have bad intentions.
We explore Beggar's Lane in Victorian London, chatting to people, looking at items of interest, searching for a way to get out. We delve into the sewer, chat to some homeless folks, discuss moonshine with a robot and even get involved in a spot of swordplay with a somewhat entitled rich chap.
As we play we draw tarot cards from our deck to see if we pass or fail certain actions, and all of our decisions give us experience in certain areas so we can level up our skills a bit.
But the big thing is that we have an amazing hat. And we're a minotaur.

Explore an open world in this Victorian steampunk cRPG. Choose from three playable characters with branching stories that intertwine. No random stat points here, use your skills to level them up, and trust your fate to our tarot card chance system.
So, how will you solve your problems? Combat, persuasion, magic, explosives? The choice is yours and all your cards are on the table; but be careful, the docklands aren’t for the faint of heart.
Tarot Card Chance System - Leave your dice at home as you interact with a variety of characters. NPC’s react to your gender, race, appearance, and choice of dialogue, so you’d better look and act the part if you want the “right” results. But not everything is certain, luck plays a role and it’s all in the cards with our tarot card chance system.
Skill and Etiquette System - The skills you use will improve your ability, while ignoring others will cause them to stagnate. Master the skills you choose and learn more about the world and its inhabitants to unlock special dialogue and skill-check options.
So go, see, do! And don’t be afraid to try the unconventional. Drown yourself in gin? Sure, provided you’ve got the constitution for it. Smoke that opium? Certainly, but be careful not to doze off- it might not be safe here. Put it all on black? You only live once, as they say. Even in failure you learn something…
