I think Miyazaki secretly had the Mimic Tear reprogrammed to try to usurp you rather than help you beat any bosses. They just sit there watching until you're dead, and then go, "Finally... I shall be Elden Lord!" and start hacking away as you slip into the darkness of "YOU DIED"
That would unironically fit the lore: The tears were, if memory serves, made to be lords, or were the failed attempts to make lords. So, our mimic tear using us to reach the throne *would* be a fitting twist.
I see a lot of comments like that. Remember they reworked the AI so the Mimic is way less aggressive. However, all you have to do is to have in your items bar that pot that makes summons more aggressive. The mimic uses is almost instantly and then go feral on the bosses. You dont need to use the pot yourself since mimic will constantly refresh it.
My mimic didn't step in until phase 2 and Radahn did not give 2 shits about him. Mimic spent most of the fight applying grease to its weapon and walking towards Radahn as if to say "Look I'm here to help, but I'm only offering morale support."
@@gtfgoogleface You can always just roll through the explosion and summon the mimic, you will eat the followup hit but that does far less damage than the initial one.
Boss turns to me and does countless combos in a row that I dodge by the skin of my teeth. But it's ok, my mimic will draw aggro so that I can get an opening to heal. Mimic proceeds to strafe, watching the fight, doing nothing. Boss finally lands final blow against me and wins; as ''you died'' appear on screen, the mimic finally decides to start attacking the boss.
I don't know if it is just the bigger arenas, but it feels like summon AI took a huge hit. The amount of times I ran off to heal, only to have Thioller, Ansbach, and Mimic running to me with the boss is ludicrous.

My mimic was nearly useless. I had to use spells and crossbows in order to actually attack him. Then quickly switch my gear back to normal before the 2nd phase area attack lands. As soon as the 2nd phase start, i had to unequip my melee weapons, switch to my spell and crossbow, summon the mimic, quickly add my melee weapons back on, and use the weapon art to avoid getting hit by the area attack, the one that you crouch and spawn up in the air if you time the attack right. The reason why i can't just summon by switching gear is because the mimic will automatically switch to melee.
@@omegaweapon116 Mimic isn't automatically good on every build. The general rule of thumb is the tankier and simpler the build is, the better cuz mimic's AI was nefted to the ground. So complex or delicate builds just get nuked in 2 minutes with Mimic. The new Spirit - Smith golem, the damn thing is insane for mage builds, especially Faith builds with healings. That thing alone can outtank any mimic build except for Prayerful Strike mimic
I like the idea that the Mimic Tear has been used by hundreds of warriors in the past and that the Tarnished is just a fucking idiot in comparison. It tickles me like my uncle used to.
It felt like my mimic struggled with me, honestly. Died a lot with me, died before me, died shortly after I did. And then, what... 3 hours later, countless attempts? We finally did it. Finally. I hit em with a Black Blade Incantation and my Mimic went in with the final hit. ...May we never fight that fucker again.
@@Ron_Jambo_ I was near 300 when I entered, and grinded to 350 while doing the DLC. As for being One Shot? ...You know the gravity slam he does every time you enter the Arena? Yeah if I don't use a shield or roll or whatever, that could One Shot me. I was forced to end up equipping the Fingerprint Shield and Mohg's Spear with the Solitude Armor Set.
During my winning run against Radahn and the Miquellestor, my mimic tear came in clutch by eating a raw dumpling before he got nuked with a sliver of health left and ended up surviving with more health than I thought he would. He ended up surviving the entire 2nd phase and we delivered the final blows back to back. Sucks that Ansbach didn’t make it on my winning attempt, he was a G.
I honestly think there might be some bugs still in the game caused by the DLC. An example would be ranged AoWs not working properly such as Siluria's Tree, at times it decides to just fire into the ground even when locked on. Other AoWs have also done this for me unless I'm looking up high. So, the likely case is that something is bugging out the Mimic Tear's AI, especially for the final boss of the DLC. Though honestly, you are really better off just not giving your Mimic any items or too many support incantations, they'll do their job if you make your load out prioritize fighting.
It wasn't until after I beat consort radahn that I learned that having a Blessing of Marika on you when you summon the mimic means that it can heal itself almost to full hp during the fight. My mimic lasted about 30 seconds so it would have been nice to know that beforehand.
My mimic kept walking into Malenia's bloom, taking damage for no reason. Thankfully, he made up for it later when he did a blood slash and defeated her.
Ha, my mimic tear won me the flight. I got Radahn to like 3 pixels of health, with limited help from my mimic ofc, and I choked and got killed. But right as my death animation was playing, my mimic got the final hit. I respawned, got the remembrance, and the fog gate was gone. These guys ain't no joke.
For me, it's the other way around, I'm doing all the work while my mimic eats a sandwich or something. He literally buffs himself constantly but never attacking. I have three spell buffs and a few consumables, yet he's probably munching on the crab meat I have. I'm soloing the boss till I get jumped by Radahn and his light lad's while my mimic watches.
It took a lot of tries but in the final run me and my mimic tear made the fight look easy. It just spammed scarlet aeonia for mental damage while I healed up and realized there was only a quarter left and we spammed DPS together
This is why I only mostly summon my MT around phase 2 of bosses because either it does jack squat until I die or it dies after the boss rains down a combo on without missing a single hit
You guys are using mimic wrong. I swap to Rellana Twin Blades and spend the first 5 seconds letting my mimic engage, and we take turns deleting the boss 😋 I love this dude!
Gave my mimic nothing but Ranni’s Dark Moon and a sceptre only for it to strafe around doing nothing until in my dying moments I watched it UNEQUIP THE SCEPTRE AND START PUNCHING??
There is a talisman you can put on as you summon him and then remove that will cause the mimic to draw constant aggro. The real challenge is finding a window to remove it once summoned.
I had to stop using my tear in the DLC. The thing would perfect dodge and block everything while doing over 50% of the bosses hp. Really made me feel inadequate!
Summoned Mimic Tear in Phase 2 just to take a breath. First it kept fumbling with the ability of my jellyfish shield instead of attacking. Then it got its heart stolen, even. What a disaster for something that usually felt like cheating. But hey, I solo'd the boss after merely 11 hours pff.
Mimic Tear has been off my bar for everything except making Rykard look stupid. At first it was a pride thing, then it was just that I didn’t want to completely swap my loadout to make it not do dumb shit instead of fighting the boss. It’s like Monster Hunter, I’m fighting Savage Jho and this moron is making Well-Done Steaks. Not sure I can actually be prideful, though. I use Black Knife Tiche.
Honestly after playing the DLC I don’t ever use the Mimic tear. I found Teach and the Shield skeletons a lot better. Teaches movements around the map seems to confuse a lot of bosses. And the Shield skeletons that revive were just better for drawing Aggro. Couple that with the new Taylew ash that tanks Melanie without issues. The overpowered Gank Squad ash you can get instead of the katana. Ancient Dragon Florinsax to debuff enemies. The Big Mouth Canon ash that just knocks most enemies back (Melanie too). And Yosh if you just want an aggressive spirit I honestly don’t know why you’d want the Mimic ash anymore. A clone of yourself is surprisingly not that useful anymore. Especially when Jolan AND Anna are the new Tarkus. If you know, you know.
My mimic has been borderline useless the majority of the DLC. The exception being the time it killed Romina right after I died. Most times it generally just runs around the battlefield waiting for me to die before it attacks
