Wow I can’t believe you got 4 years notice from your landlord. I’m in the UK and if my landlord knocked on my door and said he wanted us out it would mean immediately 😂😭

Yeah some places in the US get 30 days and some should but the landlords know the housing people don't care enough to stop less.

@@Yotsubaandmochi - Me and my parents got less than that which forced us to leave behind a lot of stuff. Like I had a closet full of unopened toys that overall I spent likely 300 or more on and instead of taking it to Goodwill the a-hole ex-landlord took it to the dump because gfb the chance of a black person buying it (no seriously that’s why he doesn’t donate anything to thrift stores, he thinks only black people shop there [which tbh isn’t true as I see way more white, Hispanic and Asian people there than black] and he flat out told my dad that he doesn’t want a black person buying his used stuff). Then there’s the fact that he conveniently waited till the weekend when me and my dad were at a convention (which he knew of because my dad told him about it) to hand my mom the eviction notice which drove her anxiety (that he knew she had) up the wall to the point that she wasn’t that great mentally for a good few months. And yes my dad rightfully chewed him out on doing that to my mom cause this guy had my dad’s number so he could of just called him to discuss this. But no he had to be a major dbag and mentally mess up my mom who was getting over her previous mental problems at that time.

Yeah so lucky, I feel like even giving a year's notice is generous as they don't have to do that. It's so stressful here thinking you can get kicked out with only a month or two's notice, as it can take so long to find a place

I love when you share recipes! I started making the pickled red onions you shared earlier this year (last year??? idk) and I constantly have them in the fridge. They're a staple in my life now, and whenever I make food for someone I aggressively ask if they want pickled onions ☺

Between mom leaving right before Christmas and the news about your apartment, this vlog could have been very sad. But your energy and seemingly warm, easy-going nature always makes me smile. Four years is a very fair notice. Here in NYC, I don't believe anyone has ever been given that long to find a new place, lol. Great video, as always, Emma. Look forward to the next one! P.S. Temps in C generally mean nothing to Americans. But a quick Google search allowed me to convert, and I see that you were talking about 39 degrees F. Chilly indeed!

I think the 'my parents are moving in ' was a bluff. I don't know how rent laws work in Japan, but maybe they were putting pressure to force you into a longer, and larger monthly rate. Since they knew you really liked the place. I know in some places in other countries they can't legally kick you out unless the landlord themselves "move back in". Some do that so they can increase the rent when they put it back to market as if you're already renting you can only increase a certain amount per year.

Wow 4 years. That's amazing Emma. You don't get that long here in Australia either. I remember twice having to swiftly move out of a rental. Now I bought, good neighbours, no one tries to break in or steal your car lol. So glad you had heaps of time with Mum.

A good way that helps me against nightmares is usually a hot cup of evening tea while watching some Camping Videos on RU-vid, while chilling 30 mins before bed it changes shat you think about and it will lower the chance of a nightmare. Well other than a bear appearing. But still it works truly for me so hope it does for you as well.

I admire you for using the advent calendar the way it's supposed to be used. I never get one, as, nice as they look, it seems like pointless self torture to only eat one piece of chocolate out of a box each day for almost a month. How do you do it?! I do phone therapy. Luckily it’s covered completely under my insurance. It is worth every second to be with them on the telephone that has improved my life tenfold in the last six months and it takes one hour every two weeks in my case. Anyway, I’m so glad and happy you’re doing it and they are talking about it, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with letting your mental state have its moment
