With all the talk of throwbacks to the physical media of another era- which I can certainly appreciate- I’m more fascinated by the fact that there are major label cassette releases from the last 20 years.

His name is Tim Morgan. He's collected cassettes since 1990, and has at least 23,000, possibly 24,000. He's listened to half of them. No one watches his videos, possibly due to the low production quality. His latest video features tapes beginning with the letter R, listened to in the last 4 and a half years, which number about as many as those in this video. What is Tim to make of Patrick Tapeman? 2 thoughts. The first, weep, for you will never have the collection he has. It's simply not possible. The second, rejoice, for in all other aspects of life which are not cassette tapes, you can claim the greater success.

@@thesigmaworkshop I should probably say something nice, to offset any perceived shade. The living space seems awesome and fascinating. I'll have to check out a video tour. Now, there is one thing which if you really are a "guardian of analog" you could help me with. What do I do with my collection to keep it preserved after I'm gone? Many people have offered to buy it- but their interest is in making money. Some of the people in those groups are like stock brokers. This is so boring, that no one has higher aspirations to preserve for all time a medium which will some day fade, again. Something as simple as the moving walkway at the O'Hare airport could contain my whole collection, and it would be cemented in the wall, probably the tape, liners and cases all glued together for all time. I digress. My goal is to preserve the collection in its entirety without greedy, grubby hands breaking it up for monetary gain. How?

@@HallyPorter an excellent question. The only path I see is to bequeath it to a trusted enthusiast. Another might be the establishment of an analog museum/archive/foundation, but the sight of cassettes on a wall isn't likely to attract visitors or donations.
