For filtration i would suggest getting a 55 gallon drum and fill it with lava rock half way and mechanical filtration the other half. easy amd very efficient

You can maybe switch all the tanks over to air filters so you only need to use one big air pump instead of all the individual filters

Just water may be more practical & feasible(considering strength of material). Little sand also maybe ok. But the front transparent part makes it very interesting to watch/observe fish. All the best for the setup & looking forward to next part. Tori looks like "fish out of water". May be you pressurize her about not touching the tanks or not feeding fish etc.

I worry about my 25gal ever leaking or breaking.. couldn't imagine the deluge if that thing failed. Your landlord would trip balls.
