It's good for our young people to know animals eat other animals, it's part of nature. Otherwise you get these stupid old people who go on nature tours and freak out when they see a mother orca training it's calf how to hunt and she's tossing around a seal like a child does a beanbag. It's normal animal behavior. They'll say "It's mean!" No it's not. Same as you eating a carrot! You're doing what you need to do in order to survive.
In Arizona we get them coming into our homes all the time in Summer, I pick them up and put them back outside (gently) - they eat bugs, so they are beneficial - but chasing after them in the house as they go under furniture, etc. is a chore because they are so quick!

Would be wise to give the turtle some places to hide: fake plants, wood, etc. That would also give them a way to provide a gradient to regulate uvb and temps more easily.
