The newest video in my editor reacts to series. This week I'm watching and reacting to Game of Thrones for the first time.
Tyrion tries to see who he can trust in the Small Council. Catelyn visits Renly to try and persuade him to join Robb in the war. Theon must decide if his loyalties lie with his own family or with Robb.
Nine noble families fight for control over the lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for millennia.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes broadcast over eight seasons.
Set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones has a large ensemble cast and follows several story arcs throughout the course of the show. The first major arc concerns the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros through a web of political conflicts among the noble families either vying to claim the throne or fighting for independence from whoever sits on it. The second focuses on the last descendant of the realm's deposed ruling dynasty, who has been exiled to Essos and is plotting to return and reclaim the throne. The third follows the Night's Watch, a military order defending the realm against threats from beyond Westeros' northern border.
Game of Thrones attracted a record viewership on HBO and has a broad, active, and international fan base. Critics have praised the series for its acting, complex characters, story, scope, and production values, although its frequent use of nudity and violence (including sexual violence) generated controversy. The final season received significant criticism for its reduced length and creative decisions, with many considering it a disappointing conclusion. The series received 59 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most by a drama series, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Its other awards and nominations include three Hugo Awards for Best Dramatic Presentation, a Peabody Award, and five nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama.

Myrcella and Tommen are good kids. Mainly because Cersei spent all her time raising Joffrey that she didn't spend any time poisoning her other kids' minds. So, likely they were raised by servants, and are thus more humble and humane. They're not asking these questions out of malice, but of genuine curiosity and concern.
@Katerine459
@Katerine459 8 дней назад
Just to add to your point (this is on top of your points, not instead of): I also think Myrcella was probably the one who tried to protect Tommen from Joffrey. Joffrey was, of course, a huge bully, so this would have increased Myrcella's protective instincts, and Tommen is the baby of the family and so that's the role he learned to fill. Also, I suspect Robert ignored them (they were younger, plus Myrcella is female, so they weren't as important), so they weren't subjected to Robert's disappointment like Joffrey was. They didn't have Joffrey's craving to be like Robert (but in all the worst ways).

9:07: "How is being a weakness a compliment?" What he should have said: "You are a weakness because I care about you and if anyone murders you, it would make me very sad. I think we can agree that you getting murdered would be bad for both of us." Also, yeah, Margaery Tyrell, as played by Natalie Dormer, is probably my favorite character in the whole series. Love her character and love Dormer in basically every role she's in.

Yeah, sometimes Tyrion isn't so smart.

Tyrion marrying Myrcella off against Cersei's wish: Tyrion is the acting Hand of the King, and while technically the Hand is subservient to the King, the true power lies within Tywin Lannister and he was the one that gave the position to Tyrion. So, Tyrion's decrees while being the Hand, have the backing of Tywin Lannister. Especially because Tyrion's choices in his "spy trap setup" were really clever because all of the three alternatives were also smart and sensible as such. Any of them would have been approved and appreciated by Tywin. Regardless of who the snitch would have been, that marriage choice would have given Tywin a formidable ally. Joffrey may be the king and Cersei the queen regent but true power is in Tywin Lannister's hands.
@evatesche
@evatesche 7 дней назад
Also Joffrey doesn't care about Myrcella, he would not disagree with his Hand to try and keep her in Kings Landing. He would just see the benefit of a new ally.

I considered several others when thinking up my list, and ultimately decided that there's a difference between "good guy" and "wholesome." Jon is undoubtedly a good guy and is an excellent character, but he could in no way be considered wholesome. He breaks his vows, he murders, he does...other stuff I won't mention to avoid spoilers.

Regarding 'does Tyrion have that power' -- well, think of it diplomatically. If he's already been in contact with Dorne and arranged the exchange, then it's kind of past the point of no return. To then go back on the deal would look really strange to someone you are ostensibly trying to ally with and form an ongoing relationship. You might have to give up something physical, in addition to the political capital spent. Point is, even if Tywin listened to Cersei and wanted to terminate the deal, it would be at odds with his plans and goals because it would push away a great house for (to him) no real reason.

You seemed to be saying that I had spoiled something by saying that she was "Lady Brienne of Tarth," so I said, okay, I'll move it down then, but I think you already said as much as I did in that line, so if mine is a spoiler, I think that is too. BOOK FUN/Answering questions: "Is Bran Magical?: Bran definitely is one of these beings(as you've seen). In the books, all the Starks are/may be. Sansa, sadly, loses Lady before this can be confirmed. Arya dreams through the eyes of Nymeria(who becomes wild and the head of a pack of common wolves thousands strong and fears nothing), Jon dreams through the eyes of Ghost at one point, while its suggested Robb is, but shuns this part of himself. Brienne is far uglier in the books, with big front teeth, freckles and more. They call her "Brienne the Beauty", but never to her face. The combat that Catelyn arrives at is a melee on horseback and Brienne beats everyone there(several of whom made a wager to claim her virginity and were pleasant to her only to gain her favor). The person who revealed it to her was Sam's father Randyll Tarly, so she felt indebted to him for it(despite him being a dick, believing a woman shouldn't be in armor). One of them, Ronnet Connington, was betrothed to her, but took one look at her face and gave her a rose, telling her that was all she would ever receive from him and ended the betrothal. Brienne knocked him flat in the melee. Renly's Kingsguard is named "the Rainbow Guard"in the books, with the knights within it taking colors of the rainbow(which is usually connected to the Faith of Seven). Stannis's own Maester thinks this silly colorful version is very much like something that Renly would choose. Most likely this was removed because it would be too on the nose(given Renly's leanings). Brienne's blue cloak was initially being held for Ser Barristan(the old knight that was removed from Joffrey's kingsguard), as he was said to be joining the one true king. Every major claimant in Westeros believes it to mean them. Renly takes a meandering journey to Kings Landing with his army, traveling and feasting in the Reach. Catelyn believes its so the different sides weaken each other so he has an easier go of conquest. Renly of the Books is much more of the fighter(having taken part in the Hands tourney, though he lost against the Hound). He wears bright green plate armor with golden antlers. He also reveals to her that Ned refused his wishes to overthrow Joffrey in favor of himself, which makes Catelyn resent him for abandoning Ned when he needed him. Theon names his own ship rather than Asha(his sister in the books). "A Lannister kid who's not a complete psychopath?" Joffrey is the worst of the children, as he's been coddled and brought up by Cersei and ignored by Robert(who himself thought of abandoning the Throne to become a sellsword in Essos, if it weren't for the thought of Joffrey being king with Cersei guiding him). Tommen is gentle and soft(and a bit more chubby in the books). Myrcella is sweet and courtly and absolutely unlike her mother. When Littlefinger demands Tyrion leave him out of his next deception, Tyrion thinks "As long as you leave me out of yours." , referring to Littlefinger's lie about the dagger sent to kill Bran being Tyrion's. When Pycelle is arrested, he reveals that he was the one who convinced the Mad King to open his gates for Tywin, as he had always been loyal to the Lannisters. He also got his whole beard shaved off by Shagga's axe, which left it wispy and unable to grow back properly after.

In the books, Mormont didn't know Crastor was sacrificing his sons to the white walkers, he thought Crastor was killing them as offerings to his gods or something, so it made some sense he was turning a blind eye to it. In this TV show, Mormont seems to know Crastor was giving them to the white walkers, so it makes little sense for Mormont to turn a blind eye to it knowing Crastor was supplying their great enemy. I feel like they should have stuck with the book version there, this version doesn't make a lot of sense for Lord Commander Mormont.
@phousefilms

From what I recall, Benjen and all the Rangers knew as much and Jeor said that Craster has been the one thing keeping the Watch alive more than once, but if the women truly wanted to get rid of him, he's drunk and theres a new axe they had just gifted him that any one of them could turn on their cruel master and be done with it. Craster also lied and said he didn't know anything about the Others, while Gilly reveals its the opposite.
@becca1189
@becca1189 7 дней назад
@@phousefilms What does the axe have to do with anything? I'm sure the women use knives & even hatchets on a regular basis. I'm sure they also know which plants are poisonous. Apparently the Rangers don't have any concept of how crippling life long abuse can be. It can bring about some really f*ed up behavior. One of the women could attack him only to be stopped by one or more of the other women, or even one of the children. It's not so simple or easy as they make it out to be. This is the only life they know. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
