That is so awesome!! What a deal!! I found an older, king size Grace frame on Marketplace as well! It came with a Bailey's Home Quilter and it's been a great beginner long arm!! Like you, I immediately fell in love with it! I showed my husband the video because he obviously helped a lot and he said "uh oh....you've got quilter envy" when you upgraded the Juki! 🤣 Haha! Of course not, but I am so happy you got this!!

Try getting some pantographs! They are a long roll of paper with a yelling design in it. You add a laser to your machine and following the design... have so much fun! I wish quilting was a more popular hobby in Ontario Canada! I need more quilting friends

Congrats on your new toy! I started out with the smaller Juki several years ago, and after the first quilt immediately knew it wasn’t going to work for the throat space. I sold the setup (kept the Juki) and bought a Gammill, and love it. When I was first quilting, a seasoned quilter gave me these tips: 1) don’t use both hands, you’re actually working against yourself, use just one hand to guide; 2) It’s a dance. Get in the rhythm of a waltz … 1,2,3 … 1,2,3 … this helps you move across the quilt; and 3) Practices, Practice, Practice. She also recommended a glass of wine if you’re a tense quilter. 😉

You have given me the courage and inspiration to try my grace frame I have had for several years. I am afraid of it . 😂. I purchased it and then my mother became ill and I was busy helping her. Sadly then she passed and I just have not found the courage to tackle it. But your bravery and excitement has persuaded me to go forth and conquer! Praise the Lord for people like you! 💖

The tape measure is a centering tape and the board is so you can quilt from the back if you have the pantagraph kit

Oh you will have so much fun, I tried a long arm at a workshop last week and want one too. Saving up over the summer. We also learned in the FMQ class pebbles, meandering, wood grain, clouds and script lettering. Love it, love it!

So happy for you. I too was able to purchase a Grace table (10'), a Huskvarna Mega Quilter (9" throat very small) machine with carriage, laser & stitch regulator (all the bells & whistles), for a very reasonable price, (about what you spent for your table & carriage). I am anxious to get it home & start using it. So congratulations, I know you'll enjoy using yours.

Erica the bar with the tape measure looks like a leveling bar. I think I see cups on the inside of the frame arms where it would sit. Nothing is attached to it, when the quilt is loaded it passes under that bar. That will keep the quilting area level regardless of how much is rolled onto the take up bar. Hope that helps - happy quilting.

I just recently splurged and bought myself a Bernina Q20 on the 9ft frame and I LOVE long arm quilting. I must have watched the same video you did about starting out with quilting your name. That video was really helpful. I’ve mastered a swirly meander and leaf vines, so now I’m working on learning feathers. I love being able to finish my own quilts.

Incredible deal! I have a Grace frame also with a Janome on the frame. It is in storage because our home is a little small for it right now, but when I was using it, it was a BLAST! It takes just a bit to get used to but you get going much quicker than you would think! Leah Day has videos on her Grace Frame and she has a long arm and a domestic one that she uses so those videos might be helpful! I use them for reference all the time! Congrats!!!

Wow Erica! What a find. It was meant to be. Well, as long as you are happy with it and if you quilt a dozen or more, I would say you got your money out of it. You are very brave for taking this on. You will love it longarm if is so different and fun I got my first for 800 on fb and have upgraded 3 time since then. I absolutely love it. I love quilting stencils with chalk.

I have the Gracie 2 frame and it works great. I have had it for years. Mine is 108 inches long and takes up a lot of room, but I love it. I would like a bigger machine like your Juki but for now I am using my Juki 2010. They are great machines. I am so happy for you. I am looking froward to your progress.

I started with a Juki 2010 on a Grace frame. I upgraded to a larger machine Qnique 15 for my frame. I had to laugh when you said oh this is so much fun but I see why people get the larger machines. Good luck on your journey.

Great find. I just purchased Grace Cutie tabletop frame and I'm enjoying it. I've found that pushing the machine is easier then pushing the fabric and it's easier on your body. Now you need the back handlebars and laser, so you are use pantographs.
