David's drive to Alison's new house, once it got dark and windy, was terrifying. Your description of the drive and feeling lost and the sound effects of the wind, were so good, I felt like I was sitting in that car. I've listened to this story twice and both times I wanted David to turn around, not go through that water, turn around damn it and take "us" home, please... 😊
This is why my goal is to buy every book Tony writes. He's a brilliant modern ghost story writer!! I listen obsessively to his Classic Ghost Story Podcast!❤
This was a beautiful story told wonderfully. I did a lot of adventurous training in the Welsh mountains and lived in Wales a couple of times, so this brought back many memories. I think writing in the horror genre is extremely difficult. You've really mastered the trick here of using the atmosphere to create unease, fear and then terror, rather than any actual description of blood and gore. The moments when David is holding the chair in place and listening are really disturbing, but even more so, something you cleverly leave for the listener to ponder on, is the awful death Alison must have suffered. That is the true horror of this story. Thank you so much for posting and creating this channel.
That is one of the scariest stories I've ever heard! I'm certain the audio effects had a strong influence on the presentation, just as does music in a movie, but the atmosphere you painted with words was eerie and troubling. You are a master in your craft! (I may have to leave the light on tonight and I'm 71 years old!)
I think I would go bonkers if I didn't have Tony Walker to read to me every day. Thank you for keeping me calm and somewhat sane in these troubling times, Mr. Walker!
Mood is everything. Dripping, layers of moisture and dark. And secrets. Our old friend Death likes to expand the borders of Her mystery, and no amount of words tell the secret... lovely!
Your writing is so very textured. Yet move at an engaging pace. Add, perfect narration, and I feel I’ve stumbled on a gold mine! Glad to find you and your gifts.
That was well written! Very well written! I’ve gone back to before, just before I discovered this channel! I find myself looking for the stories that you wrote! Which is unlikely because I prefer the old ones in general! Excellent job Tony! This one is as terrifying as I can take, and still be entertaining! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I Love your writing, storytelling, etc. So 😎 Awesome, Cool, Wicked Cool!! ('Wicked' is a very good thing !! I'm from Massachusetts, USA . People from everywhere have often told me throughout the years that I must be from Boston because I say 'Wicked'. Wicked nice, wicked cool, wicked Wicked wicked!! I am most definitely going to 'share' your RU-vid channel with everybody!! Thank you for making me want to read again and Enjoy Every Word!! Love, love, love "My Niece Alison". My first of yours, and now I'm going to the playlist to listen to the rest. Again, I can't Thank you enough. ☺️
You had me captive in the car, along for the terrible ride in that torrential rain, then captive again in the bedroom, holding my breath while standing beside you next to the door. Now l need a snack - I'm exhausted! Hah! Good work, author!
I LOVED it, it scared me listening to it during the noon hour. I wish you would speak some of the beautiful Welsh that you mentioned at the end. I’m dying to see Wales, Scotland, Ireland, England and visit Italy again. Thank you so much for these stories.
Very powerful. Bleak and truly scary....love the wind and sound effects. Also- your writing is very effective. Congrats and thanks for sharing with us🌺
Excellent! Most enjoyable. Brings to mind hearing Neil Gaiman read his story "Click-clack the Rattlebag" in person at a local theater with my husband before he died. You KNOW it's fiction, but you still can't help getting a thrill of fear as you listen. That's a well-written story, and so is this one. Thanks for sharing.
As a Welsh woman, I absolutely loved this story, not just for the location but the whole atmosphere you created. This is a story I will listen to again (and again) it was a pleasure to hear the place names pronounced beautifully too. Thank you.
I WAS LISTENING TO THIS ON A WINDY NIGHT AND FOR THE FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY JUMPED WITH FEAR WHEN A DOOR IN THE HOUSE RATTLED. THANKS TONY AS USUAL DAMN EXCELLENT
Not sleeping, I fetched myself a drink from the kitchen towards the end of this tale, and had to remind myself that no, there couldn't be a drowned girl following me back to the bedroom! Not many ghostly stories scare me now I'm older, but I felt that frisson of fear run up and down my spine tonight... I particularly like your little chats at the end of your stories, too, where I learn something about the author and/or the structure of the story. I've only discovered your channel in the last couple of days, but am enjoying it very much -- so thank you! Best wishes, from Katherine in Kent 💐🤩💐
What a beautifully written piece...so glad I found you tonight. New sub after this one story. So looking forward to hearing more from you. Warm honey in my ears.💙
What a brilliant Story Teller this man is, his voice is perfect for this spooky little tale, and the sound effects are spot on as well, loved this one thanks for putting this on for us all,
Very atmospheric story just right for Halloween. You write beautifully and your narration is superb. Looking forward to hearing more. Also to buying one of your books to read next autumn, when it is cold and raining outside. I live in Cardiff, Wales having moved from London decades ago. Thank you so much. Stay well - lechy da !

Very good! I wish I could speak the Queen's English as well as you did the American accent a few days ago. Your story reminded me of "Out on the wild and windy mores....."
Great reading! Very cool atmosphere, the voice is absolutely perfect. As for plot- I would open that door , look at this Alison and ask “What a stupid way you behave yourself! For what have you been scaring me ?! You can just talk to me without any tricks and odd things! Imbecility! What for I made all this trip for you?! For being scared? Or what ? You are dead , this is obvious . So what is next ? What do you want for me - can you just explain without any stupid tricks?!?”
Excellent Tony 👏👏👏. It is very atmospheric and sad . You have a knack for "transporting " me to the place where the story is. I have a nice lineup of your stories for tonight. 👍
Really good story. I was listening to it to try to sleep, but my eyes flew open several times and my heart raced. I was so there with you listening inside the room and in the car. A good scary though. You read it superbly too
This would make a wonderful short film. I can picture the visuals very vividly. Very good reading, Tony. By the way I enjoy your talks after your readings. Don’t stop. Thank you.
Awesome job, Tony! This is absolutely brilliant! Your story is a true gem! The sounds of someone, or something, walking up the steps and Allison talking/whispering to her uncle were awesome. You also did not tell us what she said, which keeps us guessing, adding to the story. Fantastic job. Keep writing and narrating!
Ditto ditto ditto also this time--love the sound effects!!!! Reading along with you in your book Horror Story For Halloween by Tony Walker. Highly recommeded !
Sitting listening to you on a bleak winters day in my cottage - felt I was truly there with you in Wales at that bleak haunted place - except I’m in NZ. You captured me perfectly. I love the Welsh accent. A truly great ghost story. And yes, who doesn’t wonder what happens after death? I do.
Listen while working. By the time I got to here on the playlist the cat walking up behind me made my hair stand on end. These are excellent. I'm gonna have to get the collection.
Your stories are ALWAYS the best, mate, without fail. The classic authors are great and all but your stories never fail to truly spook me in the best of ways. Fantastic, and thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Sooo freakin creepy! Perfect for the stormy night we are having. Love the Welsh accent, & your own of course! How do you manage to sound creepy & sexy at the same time?! 😍😁 Ty as always Tony!
Thanks so much! Second time around and opportunity for clicking thumbs up.You paint the scene with words so we can feel the wind, the rain, the cold; experience the Welch farmhouse in all its isolation, desolation as if we are right there. You capture the spirit of the true Welch people. Your presentation, voice and mastery of accents enhance the story, which is enthralling and engaging as is. Please continue entertaining us. (Call it escape, if you like:)Thank you Again and again.
Tony, you are a powerful, yet nuanced writer. The stories you write really set an atmosphere. I'm so glad I found your site. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!
@@ClassicGhost I have decided I'll start funding you shortly. I( I work in construction and it's been snowy here in Loveland Colorado) as my hours increase, I'll be able to buy you a bottle of Scotch or two Whatever I can do to promote your stories, I am willing.
I don't know any publishers, but I do have a connection with a famous writer. Perhaps, I can arrange a meeting. Send me an email and I'll give you the particulars.
OMG! This story was SO up my street! I absolutely loved it! I find your tales the most relatable of all the tales you read...although I enjoy them all. The Welsh landscape captured so perfectly and the old farmhouse, and the rain...of course. Yes, I know and love Wales. Would like to learn a Celtic language too! I spent a one month solitary retreat in the middle of the Clocaenog Forest, in a caravan, not seeing another soul the entire time - fantastic experience ☺ It seems we have Samye Ling in common too 😁 I spent five years volunteering there! Met amazing people, and lived in the middle of nowhere in a 'settlement' known as Garwald. Best time of my life! Anyway, please keep writing and reading your marvellous tales! 🙏
So good, and distressing and sad. I wound up stopping moving at all and just staring at the screen, even though it wasn't doing anything, with tears standing in my eyes most of the time. I like hearing the after- story, when you share the parts of reality that informed your creating such a setting and situation so easy to fall right into.
I enjoyed this one most of your stories I've listened to--very well done, although sad. I particularly enjoyed the moving man's bits...and the descriptions. My view about life after death: It will never work for scary ghost stories---because moving out of this life and beyond is wonderful. The actual dying part may be scary...but not being "dead". It is a Reunion with unconditional love and so much more. Summer smiles from the USA ~ many thanks. Your channel has helped me during a period of recovery from major surgery. I LOVE your commentary post story---always learn new things from what you share.
Aww that was brilliant. I love any thing set in Wales and as ad prehistoric archaeologist any thing to do with stones :) also really enjoyed the back story
To y always puts you right into the story. Its a ghost story with a bit of a vacation to the wrong place were you make lousy choices. Sounds like fun to me.😂😂😂😂😂
really enjoyed the story and sound effects. Your census adventures sound fascinating. the people who are hidden, or hide themselves away. My mum was welsh and my dad taught himself the Welsh language. we had a little holiday cottage near Rhydymain near Dolgellau. Our Cottage was high up the mountain. But not as high as Miss Williams who lived in a cottage called tynythymynydd ( think) definitely ty and mynydd .She was such such a shy little women. She used to walk up and down that mountain and would never accept a lift in our car. Once we visited her little cottage. It was so primitive. With an open fire cooking hearth with a black kettle and a black cooking pot, round, almost like a witches cauldron. No electricity of course, nor water on tap. However, the thing that impressed me the most was the front door. It was in two parts. An upper and lower, as happens in old farming cottages. But the gap between the old stone flag floor and the bottom of the front door was big enough for me as 10 year old girl to wriggle through. The snow and winds and gales at the top of that mountain. My god that little Miss Williams and her brother must have been tough! They lived their simple lives there together. Later her brother died, and we visited her when she was living on her own up there. So sweet a person. Such a gentle persona.
That's lovely. I can see it. Probably Tyddyn y Mynydd (tyddyn is a little cottage). Pronounced tuthin (where the th is like the -th- in these clothes). I've just been sitting in a cafe in Maryport surrounded by West Cumbria accents and one of the guys had such a distinctive North Wales accent, Penllyn I'd say. I didn't like to interrupt to ask him, but I wish I had!
