OMG, I love the vintage mini flower cup twinkle lights. I remember those, along with a different flower pattern from the 70's that we used, along with the c7. This is the way to do Christmas. Hate those led's with a passion, and I don't care if these use more electricity. Vintage Christmas all the way!! Love the Shine Brite, or Christopher Radko relector ornaments, and reflector cups for the c7's too!
The tree looks beautiful even when unlit here and the tree topper is awesome! Here is a tip with your Christmas lights you might already know. Do you want to keep your Christmas lights even longer and without color fading? Use a lamp dimmer. Dimmed lights produce a more warmer glowing effect as well!
Glad you enjoyed it. That is the tree topper I grew up with since I was born in the 1970s, and I consider it the "deluxe model." I learned about the dimmer several years ago before I started collecting matchless stars, bubble lights, and other Christmas lighting from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. I use a dimmer on all of these.
You're using a dimmer? Everything looks really bright. FYI: Christopher Radko made several nostalgic lights and ornaments since 2004 but since quit. I collected several of the lights and ornaments. Have you? They are really awesome recreations of the classics.
Michael Williams They come out bright because the camera exposes them that way. I don't dim the 1970s petal lights on the tree, but all the matchless stars, bubble lights, and cone lights are on dimmers at about two thirds power. Christopher Radko came to my open house in 2013. It was pretty neat hearing the history he shared. He did some great work with glass.
I have loads of lamp dimmers that I bought from Lowes. Everytime they move them to a different aisle none of the workers seem to know what they are, and I am always educating them, as we look for them. We always find them, and they say, "Oh, I never saw these before." I have loads of lights from the 20s, 30s, and 40s, and I will not run them without dimming them.
I love all your videos! I remember these from when I was a kid.. Bubble lights, drops, indented glass balls, and the foil reflectors although the ones I remember were a bit different than yours.. (80's kid) I want to try and find some of these now for my tree especially bubble lights.. I LOVE bubble lights!!
I grew up in the 70s, and reflectors were a big thing back then. You can find lots of vintage bubble lights on eBay. If you ever have to test one, check out my video showing how to do it with a nine volt battery.
