In this video I demonstrate how I cook black rice in my Oster DuraCeramic rice cooker. The rice was thoroughly rinsed in cold water and cooked for approximately 38 minutes. Black rice is delicious with a healthy dose of antioxidants!
My channel contains video reviews of products I own & have purchased with my own money. I am not in any way affiliated with any company that manufactures, sells or represents these products. My intent is to be helpful in sharing my own experience with these products. It also contains DIY projects that are for craft and/or information purposes only and should not be construed as expert or medical advice.

Just follow the water to rice ratio on the package to get the correct done-ness of your rice.

I bought this rice cooker.. I made a couple batches of oat meal... But the white long grain white rice i made was perfect.. I use the rice cooker for preparing white rice for Chinese American take out recipes I've developed over the yrs. For you bachelors out there... You can also cook pasta in a rice cooker and many of boxed rice like rice-a-roni or near east rice pilaf to name a few.. This rice cooker; Helpful is demonstrating, is small and the perfect size for singles on either side of the genders... Thanks for all your hard work Helpful... your name truly suits you..

I'm not soaking the rice - so we can forget that idea! :) Not only is it the most nutritional to prepare - but, it's also the most nutritional to eat! :)

Very nice! My partner and I are looking to start eating healthier things and to just be healthier in general. I never knew there was such a thing as black rice! But then again I live in the middle of no where in a town where only 2,000 people live. I’m guessing if I make a trip to Denver I can probably go to Whole Foods and get this? Where did you buy your rice? And thanks for all the great videos!

I'm so glad my videos are helpful to you! I found the black rice at my local grocery store that has a natural foods aisle. I used the brand Nature's Earthly Choice in the video, it's available online here as well as many other sites: www.vitacost.com/natures-earthly-choice-all-natural-black-rice-gluten-free?csrc=GPF-897034002281&csrc=GPF-PA&mtp=srEYR84pO-dc%7cpcrid%7c97670541013%7cproduct%7c897034002281&pgrid=16877535733&ptaid=pla-547291395110&gclid=Cj0KCQiAvqDiBRDAARIsADWh5TeM03uyapfVDHYBy-Qdh6E7y3fRy3JhDf2eYHXEaz1hgKAahnPP9h0aAlXeEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds There are also other brands of black rice, some less expensive. I just happened to have found this one locally. I'd bet that Whole Foods would be a good place to look. Have you checked out any of my blender videos? My blender was my first appliance diving into a healthier lifestyle for me and my husband. I use mine every single day! Thanks for watching! :)

helpfulnatural oh yes I’ve probably watched at lease every video at lease once. My blender is definitely a staple on my house along with my rice cooker and my electric pressure cooker!

Gotta love that pressure cooker! I was scared to death of them for years. But a few years ago I decided to swallow my fear and try it out. My first one was a Presto 6 quart stovetop model. It did a decent job but took forever to come up to pressure. I now have 2 different sized Fagor models that I LOVE! They come up to pressure much faster and are way easier to use than the Presto. :)

helpfulnatural you should definitely make a video on them! I’d love to see them in action. I just went the easy way out and bought an insta pot and power pressure cooker XL. Both work amazingly well.

@@dannialwilliams4 I think it's all a matter of preference as to what type of pressure cooker to use. I see the InstaPot everywhere and is extremely popular these days.

Hi I am trying to cook black rice tonight they say this is very good for diabetic person. I don't know if it's true. I am diabetic and I am a white rice eater. Thanks for sharing.

White rice is not suitable for people with diabetes, I am type 2, and I buy low GI white rice from India grocery store. Even though, we should not eat too much. Black rice has the lowest glycemic index. Make sure to wash the rice to get rid of the starch, especially the white rice.

Have you ever tried using stock or broth instead of water in this rice cooker? If so, did you get the same result?

Cooking rice in broth or stock works very well. So much more flavor.

I just came across this video and i wanted to ask if the plastic bowl to this is it safe?
@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 4 года назад
Plastic? Do you mean the cooking pot? It is lined with ceramic so it is safer to use than traditional Teflon. I have a bunch of videos using my rice cooker. It's one of my favorite appliances in the kitchen! :-)

@@helpfulnatural wow it's lined with ceramic??? Oh that's why it's called duraceramic??? Hahaha I didn't put that together... thank you for clearing that up for me. I really like that pot I'm still watching more.
