I got some raws 3 years ago and noticed they instantly felt like riding a bike, like I was going about 15 percent faster than my previous bearings. I loved them, but then after a week my bearing totally blew out on flat ground. I just got another set to try them out again, but that sketched me out. Also, 8.65-8.8 is the goldilocks of board sizes🫡 I wish they made somewhere around a 8.65 truck as that would be the best for someone in those board ranges ( I also like having trucks a bit narrower than my deck, but not by much.) I can’t wait till the ace af1 hollows come out. Keep up the great vids!

Glad I came across your channel been watching Dowdy's channel since he started his channel. And I'm with you when it comes to gripping boards. I'm batting around .200 or 20% out of 10 boards as far as a janky grip job.... On another note and I think this comes with age/the older I get I tend to personalize a little more always trying something different from past grip jobs... And never just slapping on grip tape covering the whole board... Every board you setup when setting up a complete in my opinion feels kinda ritualistic. Personalizing and putting your touch on skateboard should be fun and meaningful. It's almost like a relationship... It is a relationship....

If you like using the axle washers, you’ll love using bearing spacers! Especially on transition with better bearings and bigger wheels ;)
@robertstrong6639
@robertstrong6639 Год назад
Bearing spacers have always been there to prevent damage from overtightening, and prolong the life of bearings.
@vorpalblades
@vorpalblades Год назад
If you don't use spacers and washers the bearings will not operate properly. The inner race ends up spinning on the axle when they're not connected by washers and spacers. Might as well just buy ones at that point.

One way to get rails attached, is to use strong double faced adhesive tape. eliminates all the noise and really keeps them attached. I personally kind of liked all the noise from loose rails, especially in board slides, but stopped drilling after first time attaching them with tape.

Yo man good video! I've been riding the same set up you have for the past year; 8.75-9 inch boards, ace 55s, 56 mm spitfire f4 and I think its a great set up for transition. I do ride my trucks with no washers on the top and bottom and 1/8 inch risers now so its a little squirrely when I'm going fast in bigger bowls but its a fun set up for the parks I skate. Good points about having a wider nose for transition, you can hurt yourself badly if you miss the nose on tricks like disasters, fakie rocks, backside airs.

@@BigAlSkateTutorials Haha it does come with some gnarly wheelbite slams might be a little counterintuitive. That's crazy that some of your friends ride with 2 or 3 bolts on a truck, never heard of that before.

Nice setup! I also just bought my first pair of ACE 44 AF1. Can’t wait to try them out. Rails are lot of fun for slappies and definitely helps to balance with longer boardslides. Thanks for the video and cheers from Finland! 😊🤙

Greetings from the ATL. I’m 6,3 and big feet. Not sure what it is in metric but I’m tall. 😅 I like 9 inch anti hero boards. I’m an old guy now so I only ride transitions nowadays so a big board works for me. Great video welcome Germany ! 🫡

So stoked you did this in detail. Glad to have you back on the ace train. Didn't you ride for them? I like to put soap shavings in my pivot cups to avoid squeaking / wearing through them prematurely.

This isn’t much of a hack but this is from the experience of trying to grip my kids skateboard decks as well as a couple of my own. I would say make sure your blade really really sharp. There was one deck on did it look like a beaver was chewing the edges.

It blows my mind when I see people sanding and cutting their grip in their house. I get that you can vacuum up after but that’s just adding another process into putting a board together.
