Fun fact: There is someone in my area who owns the computer Super Mario Bros. Special was released on, and he regularly brings it with the game loaded up to retro computer meets and occasionally to conventions. I've had the privilege of playing it multiple times. Yes, it's every bit as bad as it looks.
@@mind-of-neo There sure are! I live in a fairly large metropolitan area, I don't know how fortunate you are in terms of location but if you live in a big enough city I wouldn't be surprised if you had one too! My area also has a retro gaming group too that regularly does buy-sell-trade meets and those are a lot of fun too!
I like to think that while he is recording this scott is laying on the floor on his stomach and kicking his legs in the air like a schoolgirl talking to her crush
My favorite part of the shark tale shrek double video cart is that some insane new storage system had to be developed where items were compressed and then burned into a physical 3d matrix of points. Scientific breakthroughs all for the sake of shark tale shrek.
I don't think it was developed because of that cart, but still, they have this new advanced (heh) way to store data on a cartridge, and what exciting new game they decided to use that tech on? None, here's Shrek/Shark's Tale instead.
Everytime I see a video from scott on the carpet I remember that he has a carpet rig that floats and does not lie on the carpet with his legs behind him in the air as he talks about Atari karts
One of my favorite "gaming" stories is when me and my brother went on a road trip and had Shrek 2 playing on my Gameboy micro through the whole trip So I will kill to get my hands on the double pack
It really really really looks very pixelated. What it us impressive is that it is the BIGGEST OFFICIAL GBA KART EVER, unfortunately it was only ever used for this and not for like a bigger that normal GBA game.
It’s crazy to me that the Gameboy Advance video and the PSP UMD video were releasing at the same time. You could watch DVD quality movies on PSP while me and my friends were watching all 28 pixels of SpongeBob on GBA
Scott, I just gotta say man, no matter how dark times in my life have been, no matter how difficult or stressful, every time I see you upload my life has a light in it that I really need. I really, really appreciate you, thank you for everything.
You need to find happiness because if this clown is what makes you happy you are in a shit spot. He has no clue you even exist nor does he even care. Find true loved ones to make you happy, not this loser.
You can still rent a 3ds with the Louvre game at the Louvre. It’s a neat thing and great if you’re bringing kids with you who couldn’t give less of a shit about old art. Also it tracks where you are in the Louvre on a little interactive map. Such a neat piece of technology :)
Can confirm. I have used the 3DS Lourve app and it works pretty well. It also comes with little explanations of the art that are fully voiced over and it adds to the experience because it's like having a mini guide on your hands. Would recommend the extra 10€.
I never stopped to think about this until now, but I guess the reason the japanese market loves golf games so much is because real golf courses demand a LOT of land, which they don't have the luxury to waste like that by being an archipelago, so they compensate with these games. Another awesome video as always, keep up the good work!
Yeah that lack of land also created a prestigious air to golf in japan because to play 18 holes at a medicore japanes course is about the same cost as 5 star course in europe or north america
I think a greater factor would honestly just be Japan's general geography. It's not only an archipelago, but it's incredibly mountainous and hilly (something not very conducive to creating golf courses).
I live very close to Paris and as such got the occasion to visit the Louvre Museum several times. That 3DS guide is AWESOME. So packed with incredible functionality, it's so well made, it even has a damn GPS option when you want to get to a specific section/work of art. To my knowledge the Louvre still has those 3DS to this very day. Next time I go there I'd better check the souvenir shop to see if they still sell the physical copies, cause I could make a shit ton of money on that.
This was awesome, Scott. Thanks for sharing your collection! I don't think I'll ever be financially sound enough to have a collection like this. It's really cool to see someone who is relatively humble/down to earth about a collection. I love how much detail you go into about all this, and you're not rubbing it in our faces. It's absolutely fine to show off your collection and say how cool you think it is. It's good stuff. c:
i like how these scott stash videos are complimentary to the main channel episodes. this must be when he's in the research phase of episodes and opening games, and he's just recording it as bonus content
Something I noticed about the 64DD is that Nintendo never seems to reference it nowadays. In fact I think Master Quest on the Gamecube might have been the last time they ever did. I get the feeling NCL considers it a major embarrassment internally.
This video came up randomly in my feed, but as a collector myself (of music CDs), I can admire the dedication and desire to complete collections, whilst enjoying the content that's on them. Makes for an entertaining watch and I love your collection :)
The F’ed up part of why Mega Man X2 did so expensive is hilarious to me because it’s literally just because the title screen, one miniboss, and phase 2 of the final boss are wireframes so there’s some chip in the cartridge. Absolutely crazy
i'm from Brazil, the story behind this version of Street Fighter 2 on the Sega Master System is pretty amazing, the effort that "Tectoy" (the producer of the Sega games on Brazil) put in the development of this game is something pretty unusual, cuz the Megadrive (Genesis in US) is launched in Brazil in 1990, and this game comes for the Master System in the Saturn lifespan in 1997, cuz here in Brazil game stuff is really overpriced, so then people used to keep their consoles over 2 to 3 console generations, like me that had a SNES in the PS2/Cube/Xbox lifespan, so we used to skip from like PS2 to PS4😂😂😂, now the average people have more access to the modern generations after 2 years of it's launching, but even though the console prices here are something like 3 times the monthly average payment of every people, so we receive 1200 Moneys and the console price is like 4000 Moneys. In the US the average payment is 1500 to 2000 Moneys, and the consoles are like 500 Moneys, is very hard to collect here in Brazil! Here's my 2 cents, the game Horizon Chase Turbo had a physical release here and its massive, it's not like the Limited Run from US, is a very common and cheap game here, but goes with a high price in the US Ebay. (Horizon Chase Turbo is a Game produced by Brazillians) Here in Brazil it is about 50 Moneys (the equivalent to 10 US Dolars), so if the version with a letter L in a small green box in the front cover (the Brazilian version) goes for more than 20 bucks it is really overpriced! Here the games launch with a price off 250 to 350 Moneys, but this one launch price is 50 Moneys (way to cheap)
yeah shit like tech taxes seem like they make it impossible to get stuff, yall get fucked over. also did not know horizon chase turbo had any sort of following! i played it a bit cuz it was free on epic games a while back and its pretty fun but thats really cool of them to sell it for that price.
@@gamagama69 Some big Brazilian retail stores, equivalent to the US Walmart and Best Buy, the Livraria Saraiva and Lojas Americanas stores of Brazil make a massive advertising campaign about the game being produced by Brazilian people, emphasizing the low launch price, that it's 1/5 of the price of a regular launch (Horizon Chase Turbo is a 50$$$ game and the regular launches in PS4 are 250$$$ or more) to us is a proud that a PS4 game developed in our country had such massive PHYSICAL launch and with a very attractive price, and then when i look at some US RU-vid collectors that buyed the Brazilian version of the game i become even more proud. Fun fact: I actually live in Porto Alegre, the city where the Game developers are from, and in the game they launched one update with one track that it's in Porto Alegre, so when i played that track i see many city references like some buildings and stuff like that and even the Soccer Stadium of my soccer team, Sport Club Internacional (this stadium was one of the stadiums of the FIFA 2014 World Cup). For the US people it's a normal thing seeing places, and cities from all over the country in videogames, cuz you people are the guys who made it massively, alongside the Japanese guys, but for me, seeing a game from my country (and from my city) is something that i'm really proud of 😢😃
I also think that the Xbox crowd have a replacement culture, when the new stuff comes out throw out the old sorta thing, and Xbox backwards compat kinda encourages that nowadays, whereas Nintendo fans and Sony fans (who are really just Nintendo fans that jumped ship) have a history they love going back to, so they like collecting more than Xbox crowd does, just a theory but I think it's right for the most part
"Hey all, Scott Here and DAMNIT! I own Sonic Jam, it's a pretty rare game but I don't wanna be known as the guy who owns Sonic Jam when I'm dead." The guy who owns Sonic Jam
Earthbound, Dragon Quests IV, V, and VI for the Nintendo DS, Wild Arms Alter F Code, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Conkers Bad Fur Day for the N64, Super Mario 3D All Stars, and Wolfenstein 2009 are the most prized games in my game library Scott.
I might only be a teenager, starting out a collection about a year ago, but my own rarest game, I only have one, is StarCraft 64, CIB. Gift from someone but absolutely treasure the game. Beat it and all the DLC, love multiplayer for it. Ik the PC game is vastly different with online multiplayer, but playing the game against a buddy right next to you, able to predict what either of you is about to do is awesome!
@@AustinH7 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n02R4rxBCQM.html he draws a line on the game cartridge and later declares it the rarest game
i love scotts house it always looks so clean and comfy but its always funny to me that at no angle or frame is there anything on the walls lmao. like idk i need some kind of art on the walls just to feel normal
In 2018 I went to the Louve in a family trip across Europe and we got to rent the 3DS guides for the day! it was very surreal to have a 3DS around our necks while learning about how the nazis occupied the building during world war 2
Scottsdale, your videos are entertaining and I frequently rewatch bc the jokes are that good. I hope you enjoy making them as much as I enjoy watching them.
It’s bizarre that devils third is so expensive in the US, and while it’s still sometimes sold for a lot in Europe I’ve seen it for sale for like twenty five euro. You could buy a PAL wii u and PAL copy of devils third for cheaper than an American copy of the game, which is crazy!
Honestly, there's no shame in keeping the physical copy of the Louvre virtual tour sealed. Sealed copies are only going to get rarer, and while nothing would be lost from opening it, it'd be interesting to see how long you can go without needing to open it
i love how you use the word ‘need’ here, as if him opening his louvre virtual museum copy is gonna save his life or something and that’s the only reason to open it.
A minidisc based system could have been really cool in the 90s. A protected rewritable medium with the possibility of keeping the saves right on the disc
Feels so weird seeing the Louve here. I actually have 1 copy myself bought from the Louve because I thought it was ridiculous, that the Louve had an video game. It's even more ridiculous seeing at an high price on eBay 😂
I own Mario and sonic at the rio 2016 Olympic Games. It’s not horribly rare, but it’s the rarest game I have. The funny part is I actually really wanted it when it came out. Retrospectively, I have no idea why
It really is a shame movies and series never got the DS/3DS treatment, just imagine some terrible 3d movies like My BloodValentine 3D on a 3DS cartridge, or hell, some of those decent animated movies that got good 3d like How to Train Your Dragon, or the Lego movie, on 3ds! Would've been so niche but so cool
Scott admitting to owning reproductions of those nintendo challenge cartridges honestly makes me feel better about buying reproductions of some pokemon games 👉👈
To be fair, these challenge carts are far more rare so it wouldn't be reasonable to buy the originals. Then again the old Pokémon games also don't sell for reasonable prices so I definitely understand where you're coming from. I'd like to own them but I refuse to pay how much they usually go for.
@@notyageek Both of those reasons are valid reasons to buy reproductions honestly. If buying a repro is your best option if you want to get your hands on a rare or expensive game you want to play. Still, having a legit copy feels a lot more special and earned.
Futurama: The Game is one I've been trying to get my hands on for so long, and seeing it in this video cemented the fact I will never be able to own this game.
I am happy to own a vectrex from my grandparents house. You’re right, it’s probably one of my favorite consoles to play to just feel like you’re playing a thing of the past.
The Super Mario Bros Special game is for the NEC PC-8801mkII. Most likely later models would be able to run the game. PC-88s are cheap and easy to come by on eBay and Japanese auction sites, but many are in non-working condition. LGR did some in depth videos on the PC-88.
My favorite Master System game is the China Everdrive clone from Ali-Express. I put Sydney Hunter on it. I also converted the Master System version to GBA and Flashed that to a GBA Everdrive X5 mini and play on my Consolized GBA in Pixel mode. Great game!!!!
