Been about a year since I've seen this truck. It still stands as the vision of my truck when im able to drive. Still got 4 years until I can. Guess I Gotta go to college.
The Volvo 780 with the "workstation" setup is one of the nicest interiors for drivers. I like the room and versatility of the dinette seating tucked under the bunk. It is best suited for a solo driver.
That's what I call a great ride. "Condo" sleeper with room to move around. Volvo are so comfortable to drive. What's funny 'bout Volvos is wether drivers like 'em or hate 'em. I'm on the dark side of the force: I LOVE 'EM!
Actually, I was joking when I wrote the comment. But since then, I've seen a Volvo that DOES have a toilet and shower, and it's sweet:) It's like an R.V. you make your living with:) WINNING!
I'm jealous! Look at the space in that monster! I'm stuck with a twin size bed and a few cabinets :( oh well... Ill just wait until my company allows me to become an owner op next month and have them order this monster for me
volvo cabs are like nothing else. Some come close but that doesnt cut it. Only wish theyd make a volvo with some big breathers outside lol Nice 780 btw. keep it clean, looks great!
Yeah you got that right, a Volvo is one of the smoothest riding trucks out there. See, too many guys wanna have an image I guess. There is no doubt that a Pete is sweet in the looks department and will pull a house down but rides rough. As far as a Kenworth the W9 I was in seemed to be pretty nice. All in all Volvo's are nice and can be fixed up as well.
I also have a Volvo but not the same comfort! I'm jealous ..... Here in Europe the length of the truck is very regulated. Only rebels drive with Scania T longlines or Volvo VN with semi trailers. To be legal they roll tanks (shorter than semi trailer). Make some videos of your truck in action please! Greetings from France.
why yes, i do drive what i want, my 49' kw and my 71' 359, thank u truck driving school grads!!!!!! (started out in dad's 65' B model mack with a twin stick, (dad still has it) so you new guys really don't hurt my feelings with your plastic trucks with little hoods and rubber bummpers lol ........
Very nice truck! Although I'm not a huge Volvo fan, If that was on offer in Australia I would definitely consider buying one! Volvo Australia no longer even offer anything with a hood let alone a decent size sleeper cab? Envious to say the least!
@leviz502 i know im going to get a lot of negative comments from other "professional" drivers, but Swift is not a bad place for a newbie to trucking. Its a stepping stone. Take what you can learn from it and move on. Believe me,alot of these "experienced" drivers drive like shit out there and have had more safety violations than they could count. Just remember to be safe.
hey gorgeous truck btw i will say Volvo's are some damn fine trucks im thinking about buying a 2008 Volvo 780 with the i shift transmission im just wondering on your thoughts of that kind of transmission i can drive a 18 speed no problem but auto takes all the work out it
Go to a community college truck driving program. Try to get a Workforce Investment Act grant, if you qualify, should you not be able to afford the tuition. This way, you're not tied down to one company for a year.
Now thats a beautiful ride you got there, a fu*ing hotel comparing to our european trucks... My father is a truck driver, and I know how much of importance is that truck fits you, and how coforable and reliable it is. By the way, is that stock engine (assuming it produces 780hp), and how much that truck costs. Thanks. Greets from Europe, and best of luck.
That's a sweet looking truck. Sorry to change the topic , But I'm looking into getting my CDL from a company paid site, As a female ,Is there any I should look into more,or stay away from? I'm also looking to bring my 12lb dog with me once training is over. Any info would be great,Thanks for your time :)
Can anyone explain the difference between these and the flat-front European trucks?Ain't the Actros(the big intercontinental luxury liner one)the ultimate German truck? Is Volvo better?Driving a truck could mean my dream job.Thanx.
Whenever you buy your own truck dosent matter what company its from clearly your gonna think its the shit because of the money you spent on buying it. but to tell you the truth trucks now in days have more pro and cons. im a mechanic and ive worked on these volvos every now and then mainly on the engine area and i can tell you that these trucks are a bitch to work on but like any other truck in order to keep it running maintenance must be done.....
Alexandru, please don't add more fuel to the fire. EU trucks and USA trucks both got their pros and cons =). They are equal in the end. Greetings from a Swede.
@awol131313 iv'e driven a lot of equipment in my 12 years and this is by far the best and most quiet truck i have driven if i was yo come back out on the road i would have to have a volvo 730 or 780 or i'd stay home lol
