Just make sure you use the degreaser and get all the grease off. It is simple. I hope you enjoyed the video, and if you can leave me a thumbs up.

This was SUPER instructive as I will be putting my house on the market in the next year and I did NOT want to put out a lot of money to replace things. Fifty dollars here one hundred dollars there adds up and eats into the profit of the sale. But I also know that bathrooms and kitchens help the sale of a house so this was VERY helpful. Thank you for the video.

This is a huge help for a dingy greasy apt fan. Need to clean grease off my ceiling fan and top of cupboards so love the tip, have been using goo gone, but a spray is better. Thanks a lot for posting everything.

Problem I have with this is that it probably won't hold up to daily wiping off. I bought a old place and while the hood looked good...you could tell it had been painted over and it remained sticky to touch 2 years later and was next to impossible to get to what I would call a clean slick surface as I get with my vintage free standing range which was made in 49. I can scrub the heck out of that...being enameled. My hood label says...clean only with mild soap and water. I don't get it are they made for people who only heat up canned soup? Decades ago I was able to scrub my range hoods in my rental properties. Now you just can't do that without the powder coating dulling or even wearing off. Paint over it and you get a cosmetic job...not a job that will hold up to a grandma's cooking.

Well thank you for your comment. It all depends on what paint you use I’m using an appliance enamel paint, you have to clean it thoroughly that’s why I show how to clean it with this tire cleaner it removes all the grease and prepares it so that you can paint it properly, once it’s dry there’s no problem wiping it down with anything that you want to it is the same paint that goes on top of all your appliances. I hope this helps you and that you continue to watch my videos.

In the U.K. we have a product called sugar soap. Which I diluted and rubbed on greasy sticky range hood - slight scrub, a rinse and a wipe off and it’s smooth, shiny and slick. Very cheap stuff that’s usually used to clean walls before painting.

Do I need to do any sanding or priming before using this technique if there are parts of the hood with bare metal showing through?
@buildingwithpapa
@buildingwithpapa 5 месяцев назад
Thank you for your question. The most important part is to get all the grease off the hood you can lightly sand it especially if you have some bare metal areas that will be fine then paint it the way that I showed you. I hope this turns out well and if you enjoyed the video, leave me a thumbs up.

Great & helpful video! Question: I read the back of that spray paint container for appliances, and it says not to use on surfaces that will be exposed to heat--have you experienced any problems when cooking and your spray-painted hood is exposed to heat? Thank you!
@buildingwithpapa
@buildingwithpapa 2 года назад
Thank you for your comment. that heat from your stove is not going to be enough to cause any problems, I haven’t had any issues with this paint it’s a very good appliance paint and you can pick it up at any boxstore or in the description I have a link there to purchase. Give me a thumbs up if you can.

@@buildingwithpapa Did you do anything like blow out the pilot light before using the epoxy? It’s flammable, right?
@buildingwithpapa
@buildingwithpapa 2 года назад
The stove I’m working on is electric not gas,if you have gas you need to turn the GAS OFF This is highly flammable. I hope this help you and if you can leave me a thumbs up.

I haven’t tried it on smoke but I would at least give it a try. Let me know how it works and if you can leave me a thumbs up.
@kathyf5549

Okay, I've watched a lot of videos on how to clean your hood vent. The cleaning products are not the question. My problem is, what to do to the gas stove top to keep those flammable materials away from the gas and flame so that I don't blow myself up. Nobody shows me that part!
@buildingwithpapa
@buildingwithpapa 2 года назад
Well what you need to do is to shut your gas off to your stove, there should be a shut off and then when you turn it back on you’re gonna have to relight the pilot lights. if you’re not comfortable doing this you need to find someone who knows about gas. here in South Florida it’s very rare you see gas stoves. I hope this helps you be safe and if you can give me a thumbs up.

Do you have any video how to paint white stove?
@buildingwithpapa
@buildingwithpapa 3 года назад
No I don’t, but how bad is it? is it just chipped if so they make a porcelain paint that you can use for the chips otherwise you can use the same appliance paint I used on this hood. Follow the same process I did hear cleaning that’s the most important part.

You might want to advice your viewers that the spray goes everywhere! I covered everything that you did and now there is white mist paint all over my kitchen!
@buildingwithpapa
@buildingwithpapa 2 года назад
I’m sorry to hear that. I should’ve explained a little more that you should not hold the spray can more than 8 inches away from what you’re spraying, 6 to 8 inches is a good distance to keep the overspray down if you look at about 750 in to the video you’ll see there’s very little overspray on the paper on the blue tape that’s because I keep the can about 6 inches to 8 inches away from whatever I’m spraying and don’t keep the spray running long time just the distance of each stroke. Also about 448 into the video you’ll see that I put packing blankets down on top of the stove and over the countertops then about 5:10 into the video I put cardboard on the back wall this is keeping everything to where the overspray that you’re spraying should fall directly down on top of the blanket. Again I apologize this is the first time anybody has said anything like this, the video has been up for a few years now I hope you were able to rectify the situation.
