It sounds like there is more to the story that she's not saying... or he's rich and had her sign a pre-nup. No court gives 50/50 custody to a sex addict unless something else is up. Usually that would constitute supervised visits

@@JaxLittlesOh yes they do. I've seen courts give custody to fathers who their daughters have accued them of sexually abusing them. I've seen courts give custody to a mother who's a meth head. So yeah they 100% would give him access to his children.

I think there are different definitions of forgiveness. In my book, forgiveness has nothing to do with aa betterment for the other person. It is moving past something and the hate and angry and negative emotion subsiding. Maybe it doesn't ever fully leave, but it isn't a millstone around my neck anymore. It also, for me, leaves me not caring about the other person- I don't wish ill on him, but I dgaf what happens to him.

She’s mad at herself for overlooking the red flags early on. There are ALWAYS big red flags at the very beginning. Most women choose to ignore them, because of social pressure to be married. It’s sad.

Most people (men and women) don’t see some of the red flags, due to their attachment style. She might be upset at herself yes, but I bet that her childhood programming had a huge impact in how her “red flag meter” developed. It’s not the same in all people. Those who were attuned to, had healthy emotional regulation modeled, were treated as valuable, saw how healthy relationships function, are more likely to have a secure attachment and accurate “red flag meter”. Securely attached people have self trust (insecurely attached don’t), and can see and know, what is best more accurately. Where is the societal pressure to get married?? It’s way less now than it ever was. We tolerate behavior based on how our parents taught us, and we in turn treat ourselves. We won’t tolerate anything that goes against that programming…good/bad. We accept what reflects back how we see ourselves, from a core wound level. Most of this is out of our conscious awareness and driven by our autonomic nervous system. It takes A LOT of awareness, work, to undo that. Until that is addressed, the pattern continues.

No they do not choose to ignore them. They can not see them due to the fact that they are almost always a continuation of their own fathers. This generation of women all had failure's for fathers... so they went on to choose failures for husbands. It is simply the way it works.

They act super nice and good for a while, like they’re a decent man or woman, then they trap you and start to abuse/neglect/manipulate you slowly or quickly. I’ve had friends and exes like this and they tend to blind side you. Eventually, it comes out of the dark and shatters everything you knew. I kinda get annoyed when people (not you, others in this comment section) immediately blame the victim for what happened.

Here’s another thing to consider: he sounds like the kind of jerk that would get some satisfaction out of knowing that you’re still angry and affected. Like he’s still got some control over you and this feeds his ego. Seeing that you’ve moved on, you’re happy and in a healthy place might drive him crazy. That might not be the healthiest motivation for moving on, but there you have it. He clearly saw you as weak....someone he could take advantage of. Show him that you’re someone he made a HUGE mistake by letting go! That he and his antics were so insignificant that they had no affect on your wellness in the end. In fact you’re better off without him. 😊 Good luck!

I hope she can gain peace. I’m in my own walk right now with forgiving a family member and all I can recommend is what’s tremendously helped me in my walk is turning to the Lord, reading the Bible and working on my walk with God and thinking about how would God want me to treat those around myself? And I’ve learned all that resentment and frustration gets is a toll on our bodies and mind. Letting go is hard but making peace and moving forward is so rewarding.

I so understand her anger , I left my marriage of 30 years on learning that my ex had been involved with his PA for 20 years and had multiple other affairs. Of course because I was the one that left he got keep the family home and I was the one out the door with my suitcase. It was worse when people would ask why I didn’t kick him out, I’d look at them and say he is 6,4 and built like a bouncer. Thankfully I’m settled and happy now , but every now and then 😤. As for why I didn’t pick up on his affairs sooner that’s another story.

The trauma is not your choice, ever. Nor is it ur fault, ur not weak for it. But at some point u have to take responsability for healing and living ur life afterwards, otherwise ur gonna become an npc thats just existing waiting for life to happen to you and things to magically get better. It sucks that this happened, shes probably not gonna be able to fully trust again, but I do believe there is value in trying to, even if it fails, she will make progress

As a third party neutral by trade, one thing that I have learned and thought others is that forgiveness and letting go is not for the other person , but for yourself as it frees you from the bondage with the other person. It by no means indicates that it’s ok what he did, it is for you and your peace and happiness so that you can move forward with inner peace. 5 months may sound like a lot of time but it’s not because her life got blown up and she said she was blind sided. It took me 3 years to stop being angry and it had to be my choice… DJD was right to tell her she has to let go. It’s a decision we have to make. Something like this happening to somebody who holds loyalty and love in high regard it could be devastating as it was in my case. I hear her pain and confusion and it takes me back. It’s just going to take time and you have to make hard decisions that you never saw yourself making because you did nothing to put yourself in that place.

@@blueseptember2174 I am far from having things figured out and I’m 6 years post first discovery of many. Jesus and RU-vid were my resources. Jesus for everything and then RU-vid for the worldly stuff I needed to get through. Affair recovery channel helped the most. BUT I will warn you if you are angry, rage filled like I was some of the things you are gonna to hear will really piss you off. Take it in as you can handle and let it stew. Unfortunately it’s up to us THE ONE WHO DID NOTHING WRONG to heal ourselves. Some people are better at it than others. Loyalty was the biggest deal to me so when that was violated I was broken every which way possible. I didn’t know if any of the world was as it appeared so I had to full trust in Jesus.After all I know Jesus is the one who shed light on what was being Dark in the first place. I wish I can say I’m all better now but the truth is I’m better than I was 6, 5,4 or even 3 years ago. One day at a time and Jesus. That’s what I’ve got. It’s been 7 hrs since my divorce after 11 yrs of marriage, I’m still pissed. I’m pissed at myself for allowing it to continue. Three weeks after our marriage he cheated. Throughout the marriage I finally caught on of him being a narcissist, then saw how he went through all my money, he saw my kind heart and ran. I’m so grateful I saw him for what did and I had enough and left his sorry ass. What pisses me off is people believed his story.

How does she move on? She needs to focus on the thought that she cut her potential future losses - and all the rest is, what it is. As for her children: The healthier she gets, the more her children will notice the difference between her perspective and their father's. So its important that she take her time from her kids off, to heal at first; then to get out there and rebuild her life. The same judge that determined that her husband was an apt parent for a 50/50 custody split; was the same judge that gifted her with the time to heal and get to know someone else; so that she could move on.

This made me cry so hard again like the first time i saw him with a prostitute. I'm stil filled with anger. I gave him everything, including a healthy active sex life, but hes an addict, not only to sex but to hard drugs like fentanyl and meth.He destrued me and everytime i think of him i feel disgusted and defeated. Guy spends 80K on cam girls, and John told her he was most likely out physically cheating as well. And she ended up having to pay off part of the money he spent. Guys in the comments saying “she did something wrong!” And we aren’t hearing the whole story, she’s being evasive, etc!!! But if it had been the other way around and the husband called in after his wife had been the one who spent the money on porn or had done something else wrong they would have been roasting her, and telling the man he deserved better. That response caught me off guard…

Went through similar - ex was having an affair (and I know this is thrown around but he has narcissistic traits) and when confronted, he ghosted me, left me during the worse medical crisis of my life. The judge handed him the book, but enforcing all that is more money and energy than I have - so I still struggle with the same anger.

By moving on. You paid $15 k and see your child half the time. It could be worse like you get killed by his women and never see child again or pay $15k every year or have an expensive untreatable illness. Think of it as a new chapter or new life, you don’t have to be married to the gross dude anymore. Focus on healing the part of you tht at married and had a child with a guy like that. This just clicked for me. Yes the hurt happened. And we think if we keep it in our minds then we can avoid it in future as John has said. So how do we move on from that. Focus on what we do want. That way we may be able to also have a better chance not ending up in the same situation. But it is about focusing on the opposite virtue essentially.

Totally Inaccurate. They only get more than 50/50 if the judge deems it to be a better call for the kid. He apparently didn’t do anything illegal or physically abusive, so there’s nothing here to imply that she is holding something back here. He probably bought her out of the house, the technical financial split means she’s responsible for their credit cards, etc. Cmon man.

I agree. He didn't try to see what kind of wife she was, whether she decreased the bedroom action significantly once they got married like many women do, etc. Her husband obviously had a good career and perhaps that is what she did, but that is just a guess. I definitely don't condone what her husband did, but Delony didn't ask anything that would reveal any of her faults.

I guarantee he has made every last payment on the house since he bought it, along with paying every bill, and somehow in her twisted brain she thinks because he did something wrong, which was extremely low and horrible, definitely not defending his actions in any way, but just because he did that doesn’t mean he should forfeit the house while he pays for it, so she can punish him for the rest of his life, I swear most women are cold blooded killers when it comes to divorce, they will literally take every last thing from you, and if they could legally take all your clothes, and food they would happily leave you on the street in the blistering cold naked with no food or water, that might sound ridiculous but that’s how resentful and cold hearted most women get when it comes to getting what they want out of divorce, you find out real quick just how selfish they are and trust me when I say it’s 95% or more of them that will do this, you might think you know your wife but if it ever goes to court get ready to face a cold blooded killer, and this women is no exception
