25:56 The local radio station likes to bug and stop working randomly, its been a bug for the last year. Also the 2nd radio station, the one with all the ads, is the custom music radio station, theres a radio folder under the amistech folder in documents in which you can put .ogg files in and they'll play on the radio. Thats why it only plays adverts and bumpers. Also love the elevator music.
Granny did phone you, that’s why you have so much food in the back of the van. You were gonna take it in the last episode but you didn’t cause it was past 2pm. She wanted sausage, milk and sugar
In order to get it into Reverse, don't rev the engine at all. Has to be idling to get it into reverse. Same goes for not needing to rev match the forward gears from what I can tell. I used the G27 as well for MSC, and since the update to the truck, I haven't actually had any trouble of driving it. Other than learning that reverse gear needs idle speed to do so.
@Callum Allman Well Finnish language is very hard to learn even for the translators. We see often hilarious manuals when they google translate them to be Finnish :D
As an actual truck driver, your lack of shifting knowledge physically hurts me. YOU ONLY REV UP WHEN DOWNSHIFTING (aka going from high gear to low gear). When you are stationary, LEAVE THE ENGINE IDLE, press down on the clutch and wait for the gears to stop spinning, then shift into your starting gear. In real trucks, this is what the clutch brake is for. Revving the engine only makes the gears spin faster and they will never 'click' into place. Double clutching happens very quickly in low range. It's just tap>N>tap>next gear in no more than 2 seconds. When upshifting, you let the engine wind down. It only makes sense since the engine RPM has to be lower when you go into the next higher gear but have the same speed. Downshifting is the opposite, the engine RPM has to be higher when shifting from a higher gear to a lower gear, so that is ONLY when you rev up the engine.
This is exactly it. You don't need to double clutch or even use the clutch at all to shift with matching speeds. You have to match the engine speed to wheel speed... for the gear you want. I you are accelerating with and engine speed of 1500 and want to grab the next gear, you need to slow the engine down to about 1100, but not slow the vehicle. Double clutching is what you do so that the main input shaft of the transmission will be mated to the engine and get the proper speed, or rev match, to the next gear. In the game though, since I only have a keyboard, I don't know if it is possible to "float" the gears, shift without using the clutch, or without double clutching properly. SO!!! From us fellow real world big rig handlers, learn the double clutch and how to match engine rpm to wheel rpm for the appropriate gear. As a note, this works even with small cars, but is usually not needed. It drives my brother crazy that I can double clutch and shift faster, up or down, and more smoothly than he can in his own car, a Ford Focus ST3.
That's right, you double clutch on upshift and double clutch with a blip on the throttle on downshift. To go from N to R or R to N no revs, same with N to 1 or 1 to N
@@Epicburst For me it sounds like he is saying "Rev max" but regardless of what he said, then it just means to match the rev with the gear you want in. In other words, the gearbox works like this: the power from the engine goes through the gearbox. When he uses the clutch then he takes off the power from the engine to the gear box. In a standstill, the other axel in the gearbox should not be turning around, but when he is moving then it well. Hint the double clutch that he tried to do
Do rev-match. The output shaft is stationary, so make the input shaft stationary as well. Stop the engine or disengage the clutch. I can’t vouch for this game. I can vouch for Squirrel not thinking straight here. Does he know how this works?
@@EllipticGeometry I'm sure he knows how it's supposed to work, but his logic seems backwards to me, too. (full disclosure: I don't own a h-shifter and I've never shifted an unsynched gearbox irl, so I don't know how it's done "the right way")
There’s an abandoned haunted house that you need to visit at night. Take the couch and sleep there. Grandma tells you a story about it. It’s along the lines of the house set on fire and a man dies there.
*-Knows the difference between synchronized and non-synchronized gearboxes, as well as double clutching and rev matching* *-Can't figure out that you don't need to rev match a starting gear....*
I did multiple testing myself and can absolutely confirm that it is the trigger. If you are approaching from north(heading south), you'll have drive just past the entry road for it to trigger. Previously you approached from the highway, which makes it trigger just before you turn into his house, but if you approach from the other direction you'll have to drive past it.
Was cringing while watching Squirrel hover over the negative terminal, then when the phone rang I thought "phew, saved by the bell." But then he went right back and did it anyway. Very lucky you didn't get electrocuted. Also, awesome intermissions.
52 episodes in... Still love "Thrrr". Like that thing, over thrrr, or thrrr. Many thanks for suffering through this game, watching said suffering is entertaining as hell
yup if your faceing the hosue its on the left of the driveway the trigger point to drop him off you need to pick him up 5 times before he tells you about the moneys
Love love that you're back... but the dirty window is fun to drive in. I really don't like how most if not all I'm watching my summer cars are punching it out... It's kinda fun driving that way... according to me.... But man, thanks for coming back. Needed this
“This intermission is brought to you by Squirrel. Squirrel is not available at the moment, because he’s venting at the truck rev-syncing, please hold.”
You're supposed to let the engine idle and then change gear when trying to move from a standstill (that's what worked for me anyway), double clutching literally does not matter for this game.
You know, I noticed not too long ago that half of the radiator in the Satsuma is being blocked by a panel behind the grill. You should be able to pay Fleetari to cut it out so the radiator can actually breathe, maybe then it'll actually stay cool unless you're buzzing the limiter constantly.
About the trigger points, they have issues atm and its normal to not trigger but to get them to work just drive around jokkes house for a bit. That fixed it for me.
Squirrel I love your work, ever time I see a video from you I smile and can't wait to see it, Your funny and amazing to watch, keep up your amazing work, you deserve 600 million subs!
Don't rev the engine to put it in gear when it's standing start... You only do that when youre moving to rev match the engine with the wheels end of the trany.
The Kilju-guys trigger Point has been moved since the last patch. It's at the road now, just beside his mailbox, thats why u did't get it last time cuz u Went straight in to his garden. ;)
Would be cool if it spawned rally cars on rally day that compete against you, not only on the result paper but with actual cars. You really need to drive carefully on the roads if so
love the explanation at 29:30-40ish that is double d clutch , irl there no need for clutch when rev matching while gearing up , only for down gearing and start up's i having sausage(medister) and beer(pilsner) while watching the vid ;) those scandinavians
I think you went in the other direction to the drunks house and the game go confused. Brake's at not to good in the van sometimes. I love these videos. The thing you do with wub wub makes me laugh
gosh rev matching is only necessary while downshifting. Otherwise shifting a truck is pretty much the same thing as a car apart from the double clutching in between gears but you never give gaz while going up the gears, just when going down. Also when putting it in the first gear it's not necessary to give gaz, your truck is already standing still. Anyway hope it helped
With the drunk guy trigger problem, it had nothing to do with what route you took, you have to stop at outside his house, do not drive into his driveway/whatever you call it.
Emil how can you say that a 30+ min video is great less than a minute after it was uploaded? Unless you’ve travelled from the future it’s not possible...
going from neutral to first or reverse no need to press the gas. when upshifting no need to lift the RPMs (unless rpms are too low), but downshifting need lft the engine rpms to the same they would be while driving in the gear. i have driven a car without syncros, and my current car has broken syncros on seconth, third and fourth.
That's not how double declutching works, it's nothing to do with getting into gear from neutral. If you've got an unsynchronised box, however, it's a good idea (when stationary) to let the engine idle, put the clutch down and _leave it there_ for a few seconds so everything in the gearbox comes to a halt, THEN try for the gear. DDing is what you do in-between gears once you're actually rolling. Also, if you time the shifts right whilst going along, you shouldn't need to piddle about clutching, declutching, revving, clutching and shifting, at least not upshifts. Just get the rhythm right ... off throttle, clutch, move the stick at the right time (catching the engagement as the changing speed of the shafts are briefly close enough) and declutch. It might also work to very quickly DD _without_ the throttle blip, just for upshifts. Going down, you do need to blip the throttle, but if you're downshifting to maintain momentum up a hill rather than whilst braking you can maybe just keep your foot on the throttle throughout and briefly reengage the clutch as you pass through neutral, speeding up the shaft as the engine accelerates. Coming out of gear completely, revving hard, then letting off the throttle, disengaging the clutch again and trying to slam it into gear is very much the "hard way" of doing it and it's pretty much a matter of chance whether it'll work. And revving whilst stationary to try and get into gear in the first place is counterproductive.
In fact, the quick move forward after emptying the third cesspit demonstrates it - the truck went perfectly happily into 1st with the engine at idle. Probably the longer the clutch is held down first the more likely it is to work (and occasionally if it comes to rest in an unfavourable position you might have to let the clutch back in briefy and deliberately grind it a little to clear that), but occasionally it will just snick straight in if everything's already spinning relatively slow.
I'm pretty sure you have to press the clutch wait 3 sec and then you can choose a gear like in a regular non-synchronized transmission. If he did implemented this feature well it should represent the non-synchronized in real life where you have to wait because there's a mechanism that stop the transmission (only to use at standstill). if you got question i could elaborate.
im pretty sure that when you drop off jokke, you just have to find the right spot. it seems to be closer to the road, on the side of the driveway closer to the house. hopefully TopGun fixes that, its way too picky about where you stop.
If you Rev the engine at a standstill, you're trying to mesh a fast spinning gear with a stationary so no surprise it doesn't work. To get into gear stationary, press clutch and wait for the transmissions rotation speed to slow down for the gears to slot on to one another nicely
You don't understand how non-synchro mesh works. You DON'T rev the engine when shifting from neutral. Leave the engine at IDLE. When upshifting, THEN you can double clutch but DO NOT rev the engine. The rpm needs to DROP at least 400 rpm to UPSHIFT. When downshifting, you also double clutch, but when you shift out of high gear REV the engine because you need at least an extra 400 rpm to get into the next lowest gear.
@4:32 Hey little Squirrel, apparently if you try to run the hyperactive kids over, you die too. The game cheats at this point. :D @10:56 If you were using the boat, it would be just going straight. @14:59 Da problem is, if you win to often he riots and the limit gets reseted.
Squirrel, you can drive with him to any point of the map! I meant that his dropoff point is next to his house on the dirt road, JUST AFTER his driveway towards the firewood guy. In the last video you turned into his driveway (comming from fleetari), just before the trigger point of the drunk guy, but you should have continued a few meters towards the firewood guy
Trucks also have clutch brake which clutch fully depressed you can put in gear just it helps stop the transmission from moving. It can be done maybe thats what he implemented in game
You have to drop him off on the road just past his driveway, that's where the trigger point is. It's got absolutely nothing to do with what route you take
Your not suppose to put the clutch to the floor when shifting gears, you half clutch to neutral then half clutch to gear (it’s the actual way to shift manual trucks). The only time you clutch to floor is when starting off driving, turning the diff on/off and going from forward to reverse
Squirrel, you probably won't see this comment but I'll still post it. In my experience, the trucks gearbox has been implemented fine. You don't need to rev match when stationary, it's usually done when downshifting, you need to think of it as if you are trying to guess what revs the truck will go to once you have changed gear. At least that's how it's done in real life and how I've done it in-game.
As far as i know you dont have to hit the throttle when shifting into 1st from neutral. After all the vehicle isnt moving so theres no speed to revmatch
yeah when your braking and turn the steering wheel of course its going to go straight the game is set in Finland in a time before anti lock brakes so you lock the front tires up and when they are locked up there is no rotation to pull the front end to the way the wheels are pointed ya numpty
When you double clutch theres no rev match at all. Driving tractor trailers myself in school clutch in put in gear clutch out push accelerate clutch 1 -2 snd shift at same time to next gear neutral when going to 2nd clutch in to get in 2nd then clutch out to gas on it. Takes time to sync yourself. Alot of RU-vid videos how to do it
unsyncronised gearbox. learn to drive it Squirrel ;) there is nothing wrong with the garbox. he just made it un syncronised. like on oooold cars and trucks.
