Love that you speak about lube, tampons etc. so openly, people on RU-vid usually apologise for the 'TMI' and giggle etc. which doesn't really help remove stigma. Also, I love YesYes, couldn't live without the stuff and love that there is no glycerin etc. You are such a sweet person and a great role model for younger girls. Keep up the great work! I’m so happy to hear an eco/ethical/sustainable person talking about tampons because a lot of people talk mainly about cups and the cloth pads at times. It’s nice to hear good options about tampons and that not everyone is just ‘only use cups and cloths pads coz everything else is bad’. So thank you for this, it actually is nice to hear it as I was slowly going insane with the whole ‘only use cups’ stuff.

I got my IUD in because my anti-depressants gave me a really bad side effect of having a constant period for a good 6 months (in total, yikes) and my doctors were concerned about me using my menstrual cup after it was inserted. It worked out fine for me, so here are my tips for it! 1. Make sure the string isn't in the way, or on the side of the cup so it doesn't get caught when the cup moves around a bit inside you. 2. Break the seal while it's inside if you can. It's easy to do with your finger, just don't pull down the cup because the string could move around. 3. Just be careful and cautious. I didn't get a chance to prep before hand and I couldn't afford pads or even reuseable options so! Prep if you can before hand and just be careful. My mirena iud has been great so far, and any time i've had to use my menstrual cup (which isn't often anymore, yay no periods) it's been easy and breezy because the string just kinda rests around the cervix and it's not really a problem. I've been using my cup for 7 years so I'm super familiar with how it works, so be familiar with how it works with you if you're new to it and are planning on getting an IUD!
@carmenbaby

Hey, I've had my kyleena IUD for almost 2 years now and I still have my period even worse than before the IUD. At first I blamed the abortion I had right before getting the IUD for giving me blood and cramps but it never got any better so would it be smart to have it taken out?
@FinsternisSan
@FinsternisSan 4 года назад
@@carmenbaby This is something you should talk to your doctor about! I can only speak for myself and the basic knowledge my doctor and nurses have told me. The copper coil is different from the hormonal one (i have the hormonal one so my period isn't really there anymore), and it takes a while for your body to adjust which i was told and experienced. So talk to someone who can help just to make sure nothing is wrong and you're not experiencing any complications!

What a relief to find out that someone else with curly hair finds it more difficult to discover sustainable products for curly hair. I've watched so many videos where girls with smooth straight hair say things like, I just use solid shampoo and that is it, I don't need conditioner. Well I need conditioner people with straight hair don't tend to have as dry hair as us curlies do. And then they don't need holding products either.

Hey, just wanted to say that I have an IUD, I only use a cup, works perfectly and it will be the case for a majority of people using both! There is a lot of disinformation about this "combination" in France and I assume in many other countries. The important thing is just to tell your practitioner that you use a cup so they will cut the strings shorter. And that's it! :-)

Vaginal dryness, soreness and discomfort is a very common concern for ladies over a certain age, regardless of sexual activity. It is embarrassing for them to discuss with their GP. Yet it is a real problem and causes misery. I am pleased to be informed of a better alternative, regardless of plastic packaging. We just have to do the best we can. I don’t know why anyone in sustainable community hasn’t talked about “tragacanth” yet, but i just want to mention that it’s the best zero waste all natural hair conditioner ever. It’s a natural water-soluble gum, you put it in water and it turned into gel which you can keep in refrigerator, i use the gel with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar as hair conditioner and wash it with lukewarm water afterwards and Voila. It’s quiet an ancient recipe in my country, you can also add coconut oil (or any kind of oil you want) to the gel and make a hair gel out of it (but never use it alone as a hair gel because it would flake badly).

I see tons of sustainability youtubers talking about refillable razers but no one talking about the alternative to waxing - sugaring. Sugar wax is made of only sugar, water and lemon and whether you do it yourself or get it done in a salon, its completely compostable (check with the salon for how they dispose of wax after a treatment). Would be great if you could spread the word for those looking for a sustainable hair removal option but prefer waxing to shaving!

Usually or on the less heavy bleeding days I only use the pads. Have been for 10 years. So worth the extra washing. Love how they feel on my body. Hate the disposable ones - I used to always have an unpleasant smell during periods and got some sort of bacterial inbalance often. But with the fabric ones - no odors no unpleasantness, superfresh etc.

I actually use a diva cup and have a copper IUD, this a very minuet risk of the suction of the cup dislodging the cup but it of course it depends on the shape of your canal. Especially if its fitted properly. So far so good. If anyone's wondering!

I have the copper iud and I use a cup no problem. I didn’t the first month because I was in so much pain from the iud but the second month I went back to my cup and I also have long acrylic nails so I was scared lol. But yeah just break the seal before taking it out and it should be okay. It’s so nice to not have to buy period products every month now but I fully support the use of tampons if others feel like that works best. 🥰

By the way anyone that is scared by the rezor, try the leaf shave company. They are a bit costly (80€, but you can ask them for a product which has a beauty defect but still works, for around 50€). Its basically like a cartridge razor with a moving head, but you only exchange the blades. It has worked greatly for myself and it only nicked me when i had too sharp of a setting (determined by where you place the blade). Btw thank you for so openly talking about lube and periods, i hate the stigma of not being able to talk about such things.

Love your videos !!! Just for info for me I have a IUD, and I use a cup. I asked to my gynecologist and she said it's all right, if you take off your cup correctly ! So just for people that think that this is not compatible, It is!! It took me two years to manage how to use my cup correctly ! For info I cut the little thing at the bottom and it helps a lot for me ! Anyway I completely get the fact that cups are not for everyone as I struggle for so long ! Hahaha Anyway thanks for your videos 😘😍

It's nice to hear you talk about periods and period care. More people should. I came across a company called Nixit who make a sort of shallow, one size fits all menstrual cup that sits lower than a normal cup,ticks up behind your pubic bone. I'm tempted to try them as I cant seem to master my cups. The Yes company lube sounds good too. I don't much like the sticky stuff.

The Alum stone is great! I'm a teenager that sweats a lot and lives in Florida. You've got to wet it a significant amount and then rub it over twice the area that you think you need.

Thanks so much about the tampon info, I've been looking for a good tampon brand. I’m the same way about the cup, I find it uncomfortable on the first day or two. I also don’t like the mess when you remove the cup, which a lot of ppl don’t mention/talk about, it’s hard not to make a murder scene haha.

Hi, just wanted to add a little about the alum stone. It's my first time hearing of it being used as a deodorant. In my culture, it is mostly used as an aftershave and to treat cuts, and sunburns.

Hey! I love your work! For the alun stone, you can try the combo "alun + polmarosa essential oil" (if it is an essantial oil you can use and don't mind the smell of) it works whatever the season! You wet the stone then add just one drop of the EO and you apply it on your armpit

I use that type deodorant and it does work for even in summer and I do live in Madrid (Spain), where we literally melt in summer 😂😂. I did have to get the hang of it though. I wet it roll it on dry it and put it away. I usually put it on twice a day. I'm dying to try out Zao! 👐 I think it ticks most if not all the boxes 💚💚

I LOVE my sea sponge tampons!!!! I can’t even feel them inside like I did with traditional tampons. You can also trim to fit better.

Thank you for talking about your period openly and without apology. I have also found cups can increase cramping - I use a combo of tampons, cups, reusable pads and period underwear. I am looking forward to your hair care video. Do you do the curly girl method? I am currently struggling to find sustainable products that are also curly girl approved.

Thank you so much for not shaming tampons!😍 I'd loove to use a cup, but i tried different ones and i can't trust them bc of leaking:( And i can't afford buying so many cups which can't be used:/

I love my alum deodorant! I spray a little witch hazel on my pits and rub it in 10-ish times. It was a bit of a learning curve but I’ve found this combination works well in the Texas heat

I’ve heard that with the alum stone you have to get your pores open first - so I keep some pit cloths next to my sink, run them under the hot water, press on the pits for a bit, then apply 😁

I love my menstrual cup, but my absolute favorite low-waste period swap are my washable cotton pads. I don't like to sleep in my cup so I use them to sleep in or any other time my body is not really into me inserting the cup.

Heavy periods are a sign of low iron. I've had to switch to some disposable period products sometimes...especially after my surgery.

I know this is kinda late but as a chemist I want to stress out that alum is an aluminium salt and therefore considered to be harmful just like any other aluminum ions (most deodorants nowadays have aluminium banned from their ingredient lists). There is still debate going on but the increasing exposures of the modern human from things like tin foil, cans and yes deodorants may be causing accumulation of aluminium which may be linked to alzheimer's disease. I don't no the regulations in each contry but I always say better safe than sorry. Especially the argument "the dosage makes the poison" does not really apply anymore since we hardly can control the exposures to metals like aluminium in our modern society. So please be aware of this. I am all in for zero waste but health comes first.

Great to hear there are low waste tooth paste/tabs with fluoride! This was something i struggled with for a while, since all the diy toothpaste recipes don't, of course, have any fluoride. My compromise is to buy a bottle of fluoride gel and use that once or twice a week, alongside a diy tooth powder. Its a plastic bottle, but better that than regular toothpaste tubes?

Do you notice a difference in the way the reusable razor cuts from a plastic one? Also, I like how honest you are in this video with how the products work and how all of these products might not work the same for everyone else.

I've been using the alum stone for 5 years now! I always add a drop of lavender and it works great even in Oklahoma summer. Smell wise anyway, def doesn't help with sweat but that's a whole other story haha

Can’t wait for the razor review. I’ve had laser hair removal on my legs and underarms and I’ve been wanting a plastic free razor for the ‘bikini area’ for ages but I’ve been scared of nicks.
