Kirumi is a good waifu, she needed more screentime. Ryoma was relatable af. And I have a love/hate relationship with Tsumugi, but I still love her so much
Angie should of been the antagonist and Shuichi's rival as Angie has traits that parallels with him that many people overlook. I recommend Aeris Akamatsu's video analysis on why Kokichi fails as a villain and why Angie had unused potential.
Aeris's video is where I think Kodaka succeeded with writing Angie, and failed with writing K0k1ch1 (He's a big trigger for me). TL;DR of the video: Angie is a good rival, and should have lived longer or even survived. K0k1ch1 is a bad rival, and is borderline the creator's pet.
Angie was the antagonist. The protagonist wanted everyone to leave and she wanted everyone to stay. She was a nice person but she was working against the protagonist's goals
I'm surprised Rantaro's not on here. I honestly don't see that much love for him. I kinda like him, but I think I would like him more if he got more screen time. Honestly, I think V3 is the only game where one of the first characters to die has become one of the most popular. Usually, the first ones to go are the most likely to be forgotten.
I actually love the entirety of V3's cast. Yes, that includes Tsumugi. I think all of them are unique and I really love how every single one of them has a greater impact on the plot. Chapter 1's victim and killer were both important throughout the game. Kirumi as a murderer helps establish the world of V3, with her motive and all and Ryoma is just a memorable character overall. Tenko and Angie fueled Himiko's development and I just think Korekiyo is cool. I love Miu, and she's also a great help even after her death. Do I need to say anything about Gonta? I think he speaks for himself. He's a cinnamon roll. Kaito and Kokichi were very interesting in chapter 5 and it led me to believe that Kokichi is actually a really good guy, despite the face he shows to others. I like Kibo and him being the audience's eyes was an interesting twist. I like Tsumugi as a mastermind. I'm gonna get hate for this, but I think she is 1000 times more interesting than Junko could ever be as a mastermind. Though I guess without Junko there wouldn't be a Tsumugi. And lastly, I have 0 issues with our survivors. Maki is best girl, fight me.
Korekiyo was my favorite V3 character. His talent and design is just so interesting, and I loved his dialogue and how he was one of the smartest characters.
I really love all these underrated characters from V3, and it is upsetting that many people do not like them. Kirumi and Korekiyo actually may be my favorite characters from the entire series, and the other three are also very great, even though some of them are not necessarily my favorites.
Im suprised Himiko isn't here, i don't think she is unpopular, but i've seen more Himiko haters than fans Also, i agree with Kirumi being here, she is (Atleast in my opinion) the most underrated V3 girl, a lot of people would say that Tsumugi is the underrated one, but i see more people talk about her (Even if it's not in a positive way) than Kirumi. I also think that Ryoma could have been a good survivor, considering he is depressed because he lost everything but in reality he didn't, it would have been interesting to see his reaction if he reached the end of the game
Honestly wish Kiyo didn’t end up being a killer (both in his backstory and in the killing game). His backstory even aside from that is messed up and they really could’ve explored the negative effects of a sibling grooming you into a relationship like that and maybe have him realizing that it was wrong and he was abused. But naw, it’s gotta be done for shock and grossout value and he’s gotta be a serial killer trying to give ghost friends to his dead sister lmao. Still though, Korekiyo is one of my favorite characters in the series.

Outside of Tenko (who was missing) and Ryoma (who I would take off the list) all the other characters on the list I actively dislike pretty heavily (for different reasons).
Angie and himiko too, i tried to like angie but she wont shut up witht he auta thing, when she isnt talking about atua she seems kinda chill. But for himiko, all she says is magic and thats it.. shes like the minion meme reposted by 40 year old Facebook moms of the game
Honestly Angie is one of those characters that in canon is so good but the way the fans treat her is shit She is either not talked about or made out to be this quirky polynesian girl and she isnt a manipulator and cult leader at all, and also being anti polynesian is so funny isnt it hahahaha /s
For me, Tsumugi went from "haha funny reference girl" to "I love you immensely, I would literally die for you, I've written a 15 minute composition about you (shameless advertisement)" by the end of the game. Honestly it's most likely because I relate to her in a lot of ways, such as making references no one else gets...or maybe it's just my love for geeky glasses girls 😳
Part three of this let's goooooo!!! Ryoma: Like you said its a hard choice to pick between Ryoma and another cast, But I think you made the right choice. I love Ryoma. Since he was an early kill. He didn't have much plot in the story. But his character is one of the best. I haven't gone through his FTE yet. But I fell so sorry for this kid. One mistake ruined his life and he feels worthless cause of it. He doesn't care about himself, only others. And yet when he struggles when he was getting drowned made him feel that he wanted to live. And his motive video was one of the saddest moments in V3 IMO. He's just a poor kid who deserves so much better. Kirumi: Honestly for me one of the most forgettable character in the DR series. Even after her FTE all I saw in her was (Semi-Emotionless Maid whom does what her master wants) Theirs obviously more character in her then I believe, But that's all I got. And her plot twist being the vice-president of Japan was kind of goofy and unrealistic. Theirs just not much I can say about her. Angie: I actually really like Angie. Even with all the Atua BS, I still really find her interesting. By the way Angie acts and behaves I think she's never been talked down apon and thinks herself as a leader. In when of her FTE when Angie starts becoming to close and personal with Shuichi, Shuichi actually tells her to stop. After she became emotionless with only her neutral sprite showing. And when Shuichi comes to apologize to her in the next FTE she actually doesn't care and becomes even more clingy to Shuichi. She's just a girl who's not able to fit in with society. And not looked down apon. And I find that interesting. Kiyo: I haven't seen his freetime events. But what I seen, he's good. His sudden Anthology lessons are really interesting. And he can have a funny line or two. And from friends and others who did do his FTE, They told me he'd been manipulated by his sis and turned him to who he is. But I can't sympathize with him in the slightest. His motive to kill two people is just so infuriating. So I dislike him as a person. But like him as a character. Tsumugi: Honestly, I can't tell why I like her so much. I just think she's the best antagonist in DR by a landslide. I just don't know why thought. So I can't really Wright anything- That's all I got, I really enjoyed this series! Your really underrated. Good job man!
Both Ryoma and Kirumi are some of my favorite characters but I understand why they are underrated Angie is actually smart and could be interesting if they just lower the Atua thing a bit. I liked how blunt she was when things were going serious, like when she also accused Himiko despite being friends, that is not wrong she was actually a Logical person... But the Atua thing is just too much Korekiyo is my favorite male of V3. He was smart, had a cool design, great personality and unique character. For me Chapter 3 is just a bad written fanfiction that the creators "accidentaly" put in the game. Although I don't mind him being a killer And Tsumugi... ehhhh... I mean, they tried to make the plain thing a personality and it came so wrong, like they could've done so much with her. Like getting different personalities with the character she cosplays. Imagine she could be like a Sherlock Holmes, then someone shy, etc. Although the mastermind twist helped her to be more interesting it's not that great of a deal
not only is danganronpa v3 my favorite game but it also has the best cast in my opinion. though that dosent mean there’s flaws to many of these characters, i feel the main problem with v3 is that it focuses too much on relationships more than focusing on individual characters themselves. this is the reason why characters like Ryoma, kirumi, kiyo, etc are kind of unpopular, because the game treats them more as filler characters than than main characters. i felt like this is something the previous games did better in trying to balance character importance.
I really like Tsumugi in case 6, I just wished they’d gave her more to do in the plot in the other case’s other than just foreshadowing and the occasional plot relevance.
I like Ryoma a lot and I wish he had lived. Same with Korekiyo. I didn't like the Himeko wtich girl at all and wouldn't have cared if she died. Same for the ultimate assassin girl.
I personally loved V3's survivors but I can see where people are coming from when they say they wanted Ryoma to live. I'm surprised you wanted Korekiyo to live though. That's not an opinion I commonly hear.
Well, Shinguuji got the incest plot and really nothing else attached to his character. Unsurprised that he’s on this list. Shirogane is also an unsurprising pick as pretty much everyone hates her as the hidden mastermind. Hoshi and Toujo are unsurprising for how one note their characters are; Hoshi is just constantly very overtly depressed and Toujo is horribly servile, until she isn’t. And Yonaga is the chapter 3 mid-game boss… maybe she’d be middle crowd in a game where there are more characters like Nevermind Sonia or the Impostor or Hagakure Yasuhiro but honestly there’s a big draw for every character in the V3 cast, so if you had to pick 5 the one that acts against Saihara isn’t a bad one to round it out.
Angie did nothing wrong😤😤 her goal was the same as everyone else's: to stop the killing game, but she actually had a plan how to do it. the main reasons for the killings were the students' dissatisfaction and Monokuma's motives, so by giving the others Atua as a pillar to lean on and destroying the Flashback Lights she could stop the killings the reason why it didn't work was because Korekiyo didn't act based on motive but was rather just waiting for the right opportunity
Spoiler alert I remember finishing chapter 1 of V3 and my sister spoilers” kokichis body discovery” which reveals the survivors and I noticed ryoma wasn’t there, I was upset but I didn’t know what order they died and had hope ryoma would live until chapter 4, then chapter 2 happened
I don't have strong opinions about countries in general but I do like the Netherlands soccer/football team and they're one of the few teams I support during a World Cup or Euros
i disagree with your definition of underrated. overhated does NOT equal underrated, underrated means characters that just arent talked about. a lot of people express their hate for angie, which makes her overhated not underrated.
I think the dicitonary definition of "underrated" is that you personally think something is lower valued than you think it should be. Angie is underrated in my eyes because I view her much more positively than others.
I do think v3 has the worst cast but it has my second fave character. Kaito. Holy shit I enjoyed kaito and I thought he was just godly as a character. These in the video tho I just thought were kinda boring. Kiyo was just weird, angie was annoying af, ryoma was interesting but died too early, kurumi was kinda flat as a character.
I agree with Himiko but I don’t think she should have replaced Kiyo, maybe more Ryoma or Kirumi since this is a list about hates ones instead of underrated- which korekiyo is the no. 1 most hated in most polls aside from sometimes tsumugi
