My Thoughts on the NEW Panda Controller! 

Even though it’s nothing custom, I love the thumbnail on the video. That big smile on his face just makes you think, “hell yeah mr ppmd, i would love to hear you talk about video games.”

I enjoyed the uncut videos. Specifically for things like these. Out of the ordinary news

Just in reference to the style of video, I think this style of unedited raw production has a place when you're doing something informative such as the topic of this video. For videos that are purely there for entertainment I think production and editing has its place. Not all videos fit into one type and I enjoy both depending on why I click and watch it! Cheers

I kinda feel bad for Goomy cause in some ways the Panda controller invalidates the controller he's spent tons of time developing, but I'm happy that us low-to-mid level players will have a relatively inexpensive option that gets very close to a Goomwave without spending 2-3x more and waiting months to get one.

Regardless of being part of smash or not (I haven't played in years) having a GameCube controller (probably tied for best controller with the Xbox 360) that is modularsounds dope

I’m super excited for this. I feel like it’s been a long time coming for a company to start mass producing good quality third party controllers that have the benefits people spend tons of money on for mods.

Panda can't have a monopoly on gcc bc they can't stop other orgs from entering the space, and ofc they can't up the price past a modded Nintendo controller. So it's just that they have the best product rn which forces other orgs to innovate to compete

That this controller is something that works with PC like a Pro Controller makes me super excited to use it for emulators too!

I agree mostly. Problem is, people from communities with little innovation tend to feel suspicious towards that sort of thing, since it would definitely change the meta. However, the controller will also flatten the entry hurdle for new players so we'd get more people interested in smash, and additional spectators are then to be expected. Panda not turning huge profits on the controller rn makes me think the whole endeavour to be investing in the future of melee. Of course, they're trying to gatekeep pro-level play with their new controller and I guess it can't be helped. Still, it's a great compromise seeing how original GCCs become fewer by the day, more expensive by the day although being 20 years old in some cases. The back-buttons are awesome and I hope for them to become legal. Making aerials trivially easy is a good thing.

PP, the stickbox is the plastic cube that holds the thumbstick to the motherboard, not the octagonal gate around ur controller that gets notched. But the stick box (and your gates) do wear down

The goom is overpriced to hell because they were the easiest to contact and order from. I wonder if prices will drop following this.

Can you turn (like clockwise or counterclockwise) the gates? And can you turn the stickbox inside as well? This has always been my dream. Because I tilt my controllers to the side unconsciously. Thus I run slower and hit entirely different angles than I mean to. It's awful!

Im still wondering when controller notches will be banned.

A bit concerned that Panda is coming out of the gate with a bunch of features that aren't currently tournament legal. I think I would have preffered to see a "gamecube pro controller" instead, one that's fully legal out of the box with no firmware fiddling necessary. It can still work as is, but it seems like there's some extra steps in the way. That said, if this controller turns out to live up to its promise I'd love to see them make a dualshock style model with playstation 4-3 + pc compatibility for the fgc. It'd be nice to have a quality option for pad players to match the customizability and compadability you find in the nice fightsticks, and I don't think a really good one already exists

They cancelled it and are giving out refunds do to production issues with the manufacturer :(

I agree with your concerns on monopoly, and I think it's concerning that they've filed so many patents on this controller. They already made a million in a day, they're going to make their money either way without having to create a looming legal threat over other controller modders. Especially given that all of this tech is based on discoveries by the community, nothing here other than maybe swappable oct gates is a panda invention.

In my opinion, it is very poor of people to not make this controller legal. As long as the controller does not input combos, or have an auto power shield this controller should be legal. The two buttons in the back can actually revolutionize the meta by allowing players to jump and use the tilt stick at the same time. This can help with your fingers long term health as well. Players have to break their hands just to do fox shine. How can a gamebox be legal, while a modded GameCube controller with back buttons are illegal?
