NOTE... sorry about the 'dada 1982' and 'Steve wagner' slip ups during this video. And yes, I'm aware 'trash' came out in 1989.....I've had a word with myself about it and I'm now on an official warning!!
Nothing touches the original Alice Cooper band. Love It To Death, Killer, School's Out, Billion Dollar Babies, Muscle of Love, there was nothing like those guys. Great music, great song writing, great musicianship, theatrics. Guillotines, gangsters and gouls rebellious youth and twisted stories. Dead Babies, Desperados, Loony Tunes, Halos of Flies, Men with Golden Guns, A legendary band from a time when music was at it's greatest! RIP Glen Buxton
My top... #1 Love it to Death #2 Killer. After listening to so many groups as a rock radio disc jockey, I still feel Alice's original band lineup was the greatest rock band in history.
Yup The Golden period LITD KILLER SCHOOLS OUT - Even Billion is too schmaltzy - Cartoony - By Welcome it was all over - Saw it at Wembley - Too Showbiz by miles
It's so refreshing to hear someone else sing the praises of the Alice Cooper albums that have often gone unsung . Especially DA DA , Special Forces , and From The Inside . Nobody writes 'em like Alice writes 'em . Top Marks , and good on ya , boy .
My all time favorite album of all time , not just Alice, for some reason is "Goes To Hell". I love everything Alice. Dont get me wrong. I never knew why. I dont think there were even musical credits on the record. Im a guitar player. And this obscure album is my #1. Well then we find out Hunter and Wagner were the guitar players. That explains that.
I agree 💯. My first experience with Alice Cooper was "goes to hell album in mid 70s. Still my favorite and I have many many Alice Cooper albums. All on vynal. Great condition.
Listened to Alice from the beginning. Nothing can beat the album "KILLER"...the classic of classics. Love it To Death awesome too. As his albums progressed none ever came close to these two albums.
I love hearing anyone talk about Alice. You are obviously an 80’s Alice fan. Being a little older I prefer the early 70’s with original group. My top 3 would be: 1. Killer. 2. Love It To Death. 3. Billion Dollar Babies. In college I saw them on all three tours, and as a student journalist got to meet them backstage and in fact party with them in hotel room following Killer show. My girlfriends best friend dated Michael for a bit.
I know that it's subjective, but "From the Inside" will forever be my favorite of his albums. I love the that you added "Special Forces" and "Zipper Catches Skin" because I love these also and they don't get the recognition they deserve. Of course all the albums with the original band are amazing but of the ones from the last 20 or so years I would add "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" which is a throw back to the old Alice and "The Last Temptation" 1994.
My favorite has always been Easy Action. God I love that album. It makes me feel like Im walking thru some gallery in the early 70s...which is filled with soon to be retired pieces from the 50s/60s. To me its a beacon. High water mark. Last look.
All the albums from the Alice Cooper 'band' (1968-1974) is better than anything Alice did solo in my opinion. Sure he's had some good albums solo, but nothing beats the original band!
My top 3 1. Goes to Hell 2. Welcome to my Nightmare 3. Billion Dollar Babies After that I'm all over the Alice map, from Constrictor and Rose's on White Lace, to Brutal Planet and Pick up the Bones, to Paranormal and the whole album really, Alice Cooper just has such an amazing catalog of music, it's difficult to choose, hell my top three shift around to my mood.
Nice to see some love for the "blackout" period albums. His sense of humor in the lyrics is fantastic. "Pass The Gun Around" from DaDa is almost a cry for help from an addicted superstar.
I'm glad I found your channel, and I'm SO happy you give some love to Zipper Catches Skin, Special Forces, and especially Dada. Dada is one of my 2-3 favorites from any period of AC. I'd rank Killer & BDB higher but that's the great thing about music, it's subjective to our personal tastes. Fantastic video and I look forward to catching up on your other videos!
well done sir ive got about 37 albums an i think you done us proud here seen him live three times , little know fact the goths loved him as much as the metal fans ,
Welcome To My Nightmare is very good but Billion Dollar Babies will always be my #1. I’ve played that album more than all of the others combined. Loved the original band.
Nice one buddy. I thought it would be easy to do a top 10 but it isn't. I had to be really brutal and chose albums that meant a lot to me. You're right about billion dollar babies, it's beyond being a classic. Thanks for stopping by.
You made me hold my breath for 14 minutes and 33 seconds! Then I immediately subbed, and bell rung. And here's a comment too. Look forward to checking out your past stuff.
From the Inside lands at the top spot on my favorite albums ever list. As for Alice, my top albums are Inside, Muscle of Love, Love It to Death, DaDa, Flush the Fashion, Easy Action and Raise Your Fist and Yell. Love them all, though. Been giving more spins to Lace & Whiskey lately.
I'm a new viewer, just subbed. Love your KISS list, and this list. Although, you said, Trash was 1987, but it was (July) 1989. And on your KISS video, you twice said Revenge is 1982, but I know you meant to say, 1992. But I love your videos. Can't wait to see more.
This is the most incredible top 10 of Alice that I've ever heard!! You're way outta left field, and that's OK!!! I love it, bro! God bless ya! I love ALL the Alice albums, but your take is quite unconventional, and I respect that 😊
Like your channel. I just purchase the two Alice Cooper re-issues, but on CD so I will miss the panties. LOL!!! I also purchased his Brutal Planet album. I enjoy all era's of his music. Keep up the good work.
Nice list. For me From the Inside is my fav. It was the first Cooper album I purchased. I got it about a week or two after it was released. I think I wore the album out for as much as I played it. The songs are so compelling. Also the rest of my top ten are 2) Love it to Death, 3) The Last Temptation, 4) Killer, 5) Welcome to My Nightmare, 6) Brutal Planet, 7) Constrictor, 8) Flush the Fashion, 9) Billion Dollar Babies, 10) Goes to Hell. 🤟🏻👍🏻🐍
It's a shame that Pretties For You and Easy Action never get much attention. I think they are very good records. I got into Alice Cooper In 1975 when my cousin had Killer and BBBs lying on the floor and I played the Killer record. When I got back home, I joined his fan club and my mom bought me some more of their albums.
Maybe Easy Action. Pretties is just as aimless and unlistenable as it was in '69. Interesting, mostly if you don't know these records even exist. They were out of print for years.
Thank you. So many rankings throw shade at the blackout albums. Zipper Catches Skin is in my top 5. Special Forces in my top 10. From the Inside is my #1 and Welcome to my Nightmare #2.
Don’t agree with your list but we all have our faves, it’s amazing just how many great records Alice has put out over the years, he is my number 1. I can’t imagine life without The Coop.
Great and interesting selections. Yes definitely classic Alice, especially the 70s albums. WTMN is awesome. My fave is Hey Stoopid. The writing in unreal for me and he stretches himself with the music. I love Brutal Planet and that tour. Also WTMN 2 is awesome for me. He never stops writing and producing great albums which makes a top ten so hard. Great vid
Hello from Singapore. Just found your channel . Alice cooper is my idol along with Kiss growing up in the 70s. My love for rock ,usic began when my uncle gave me and my brothers, 3 albums - Deep Purple Machine Head, Sabbath's Master of Reality and Alice Cooper's Killer. My life changed after that. My favorite Alice album as a band is Killer and my favourite Alice after that is Welcome to My Nightmare and Goes to Hell second. My 3rd, may surprise you. Its Brutal Planet. Its his heaviest album to date.
Hey do you think the "fashion" was coke? Never knew he ever did anything but booze. He went hard and heavy with the pipe for about a year. He says he flushed a huge expensive rock down the crapper and that was it for him. Just a thought. I never miss him if he's within 100 miles.
Interesting list. Zipper and Special Forces were suprising to see but I also like the blackout period and love DaDa. I was also a little surprised killer BDB and love it to death were so low on list. Nice video and a few surprises for sure which was nice. I did mine a few years ago. A few have moved up and down since though. You kinda remind me of a British Paul Stanley haha.
@darrenjackson2965 no problem! I always like watching ranking videos to see how everyone else ranks albums compared to mine. Will do! Seeing Alice for 5th time in a few weeks gonna be good! Kiss would be difficult for me to rank haha 😄. I'll check that out today! Cheers 🍻
My first concert right after graduating jr. high. Tickets were $7.50. What a show! Alice Cooper had the big tv screen he jumped out of. The dancers, the cyclops, the guillotine, his snake(when did he start performing w his boa?) Absolutely what my teenage self needed, the horror, the shock, the rock, the escapism...Still have the tour program! Those vinyl albums were thoroughly absorbed, Billion Dollar Babies(the song itself about masterbation), Welcome To My Nightmare, AC Goes To Hell, From The Inside (seen that tour at Oakland Collisiem Arena), Flush The Fashion, Special Forces (seen that tour Concord Pavillion, Calif), Schools Out, Greatest Hits... AweSome!AweSome! AweSome! that bygone era. I remember too, checking out his bio/history book from the small public library back then. Thank you, Alice, for all you've given, And Still Giving, to the music world! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
John Bellamy sent me here, Alice Cooper made me tune in, you kept me interested. Can't say that I agree with your rankings, but we all hear things differently. My top 5 are the last 5 with the original band. I think I've seen him around 15 times, and in my top 5 acts of all-time. Nice meeting you Darren, I'll be back!
great video..your list is very cool..i wouldn't change it, but only add to it...easy action, a briliant early effort..lace and whiskey, a clasic solo adventure..and my favorite group album, muscle of love..so hard to just do ten...looking forward to your next video..peace..rocky
Nice one buddy. You're right, i thought picking just 10 would be easy... It was really hard to get it down to 10. I love all of their/his work, especially the early 80s stuff. Thanks for stopping by. 😉
Been told those early eighties are great but never checked them..Now I will!! Great to see so many people appreciate Goes to hell, I love that album. Top 5 Killer Billion Goes to hell School´s out Lace n Whiskey
It's 2am and I just discovered your channel and you are talking about ALICE COOPER and you are ranking the top 10 vinyl in your collection!! I SAW HIM AT ALPINE VALLEY, WISCONSIN, if I remember correctly it was in 1979 and me and my friends were tripping on acid.. It is the only concert I have ever been to that had commercials on the jumbo tv behind the band and it was awesome and hysterical. The best one was about ELECTRIC TAMPONS!!! One of the most awesome concerts I have ever been to and back then my ticket was only $7.50 at an outdoor venue ❤. Back then we could afford to buy tickets and I have seen many, many concerts, nowadays it costs as much as a overseas vacation to see any band and I refuse to spend $250.-500 for a nosebleed section seat!! Besides the music I grew up on beats anything out there today!! Thank you for showing the world the best bands and music ever heard and I would love to see you do a lot more from the 60-80s bands like ZEPPELIN, DOORS, HENDRIX and you know the rest of them 😁. You rock ✌️🎸
Great video. All Alice Cooper albums are great in their own way. The top 10 can change any given week when I go back and listen. When I want to get creative, I listen to Welcome to my Nightmare and Goes to Hell. Great storytelling. Good old rock, then Love it to Death, Billion Dollar Babies, Killer to hear that awesome Glen Buxton guitar sound. I agree about Dada and From the Inside. It's all a great Journey. Thanks for making this video!
I had all three of Alice Coopers first three albums on the Frank Zappa Bizarre/Straight label. I sold them to a record shop about 10-years ago for $100 each.
Solid list. Welcome to My Nightmare isn't only my favorite Alice Cooper album, but it's also included in my list of the top 5 albums EVERYONE IN THE WORLD should own.
I like your plastic cover for the gatefold album, so you can open it. I only have the sleeve type where I have to take it out of the plastic to open it.
Some of the more so-called obscure albums are classics. Thanks for brining these to light. Zipper Catches Skin is awesome. Looks like I'm adding more to my collection.
I knew John Nitzinger back in the day. Our bands shared stages a few times and we passed gear around like mad. Although Killer and Love it to Death are iconic, Zipper Catches Skin is scary good. And Nitzinger’s song writing skills on that record are as great as his playing.
I totally agree with DaDa, much overlooked. I'm not actually a fan of the early 80's stuff, like yourself, so I was a little apprehensive when buying it, but wow, I'd have missed out on a classic for sure. Humourous and heaviness together.
Alice has said, in interviews that I've seen, that he's neglected the early 80's stuff (not performed it in concerts and such) for a long time mainly because there hasn't been enough demand from audiences for it.. However, he has been performing more of THAT material in his more recent shows cause its been catching up in popularity a bit with his fans.
Almost spot on with my ranking. Been trying to figure my top Alice albums. Biggest difference would be Trash off the list replaced by Last Temptation But we agree on the top four. Although I'd heard the biggies (Schools out and such) Special Forces got me hooked.
Interesting take on AC. The early '80s era doesn't usually get much love. You left out my fave from that period, Flush The Fashion - his often lambasted "New Wave" album. Side One of that record is just perfect. And the lyrics as always are just venomous. My Top 5 in no particular order got to be Welcome to My Nightmare (probably number 1, though), From the Inside, Billion Dollar Babies, Flush the Fashion and Killer. Keep up the good work!
Great Video ! I‘m a big Fan too from the Warner Bros Years especially. My 10 favorites are : 1. Billion Dollar Babies 2. Muscle of Love 3. Killer 4. Love it to Death 5. Easy Action 6. School‘s out 7. Lace and Whiskey 8. From the Inside 9. Special Forces 10. Zipper Catches Skin It‘s really Hard to Rank these Albums and put them in a Row ! But I think Billion or Muscle are my favorite with the Band and Lace & Whiskey and From the Inside are my favorits Solo Albums ! And I also love M.B. In my own Way Solo Album 1975 !
Some of my favorite Alice lyrics are No Mans Land, because it's just so damn funny. I also like Jack Knife Johnny very much for the same reason, though in this case the subject matter is much more serious and gets me in the feels.
Nice love for the 80’s stuff which I do like. I am right with you on From the Inside. Drop the needle and don’t pick it up. The Quite Room is just a gem of a track FTF is definitely a top ten for me. Keep up the great work. 😀
Great list, and I'm glad to see some early '80s stuff on there. I'd have to trade Zipper Catches Skin for Flush The Fashion, though. Just my opinion. I'd also figure a way to add Goes To Hell. That was a great follow-up to Welcome To My Nightmare, which I agree deserves the #1 spot. Nice job.
Can’t say, I agree with your rating, I would probably completely flip your list and that would be the order I would have them except I would trash “Trash”.
That's a great I'm a huge Alice Cooper Fan have every one of his albums. It is so great to see love for Dada(my #3 favorite) I love that album so much so underrated. Those early eighties Alice Cooper albums are so underrated in my opinion. My number 1 favorite Alice Cooper is From the inside no question.
This is my top 10: #1- Schools Out #2- Love it to Death #3- Killer #4- Billion Dollar Babies #5- Goes to Hell #6- Special Forces #7- Muscle of Love #8- Zipper Catches Skin #9- Welcome to My Nightmare #10- Flush the Fashion
I love those "black-out" albums from the early 80's. I really ought to dig out my LPs and see how they compare to the CD releases which, frankly, need to be given the remaster treatment to brighten them up a little.
Very interesting. Never seen Zipper make a top 10. Just shows how different people's tastes are. Personally, my top 5 are: From The Inside (1), KIller (2), BDB(3), School's Out (4) W2MN(5)
You're right about the date of trash. I made a few mistakes in this video. I shouldn't have, I'm a huge fan and know the dates etc. Thanks for stopping by.
#1 Flush The Fashion... I do love all those 80's Alice albums as well. But Flush The Fashion rocks the hardest. I also love From The Inside, Killer, and Billion Dollar Babies.
Trash came out in 1989 not 87 as you mentioned. It's always interesting to hear folks pick any of Alice's " black out" albums as he calls them, as their favorites. He calls it that because he was drugged out on coke during that period and doesn't remember recording or writing them at all. My fav then was Special Forces. I would like to do some of the songs live from that period now. Anywho, enjoyed your take on your top favs, all subjective of course, but still always nice to hear Alice fans talking about his records. I agree with your number one choice by the way. Hands down WTMN !
It was one of my first videos and, like I said in the original comments, i was getting over excited. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Nice one. 😉
For my money 1. Welcome to my nightmare 2. The last temptation 3. Raise your fist and yell 4. Hey stoopid 5. Killer 6. B$B 7. From the inside 8. Brutal planet 9. W2MN 10. Trash
I have from the inside as number one and welcome toy nightmare as number two. I have seen him 32 times. Along with hollywood vampires two times. Unfortunately the bethal woods show for thursday has beed posponed till July but i will be ther too. And alice cooper again in September for the 33rd time
I saw Alice during the Welcome to my Nightmare Tour, Suzi Quatro opened for him in Mobile ALA, i lost touch of him after the 70's and never heard of some of those albums.
'School's Out' was the current release when i first encountered Alice Cooper. Not long after I bought my first bass, having had guitars since 1965. It remains a firm favourite to this day, having just bought the 2024 remaster. I have enough editions to open a very small classroom. ') It is a way of life,
Best Alice album - unquestionably it's "School's Out". Not a bad track on it (favorite - "Blue Turk"), the band were *incredibly* tight throughout. It's going with me to that desert island.
what happened to the original album version of Only Women Bleed? A couple of years ago I had a hankering for the full five-minute version with the slow-down in the middle but they even had the truncated single-edit on the Spotify version of the album. I remember they used to play the original five-minute version regularly on the radio in the 70s even though there was the edited version available. Strange how the full version seemed to fall out of favor to the point where kids today may not even know it existed. I consider the edited version to be inferior.
Yer always gonna lose me if Killer isn't #1 and Love It To Death isn't #2. We can argue about the placement of the others, but all the original Alice Cooper Band albums have to be on it (yep, including Pretties For You and Easy Action). I dismiss just about everything of his later years, from Dada onward... but, that's just me. I wouldn't put any of his new-wavey stuff on a best list, but I do have some oddball affection for it. I was disappointed in them at the time but they've aged well. Anyway, I don't agree much, but it's still interesting to hear your takes even if I beg to differ. :) Good work, keep it up!
I thought it would be easy to do a top 10...I was wrong. It was a nightmare. I wanted to put about 20 albums in the 10. Thanks for stopping by. Nice one.
1. From the Inside 2. Killer 3. Love it to Death 4. Welcome to my Nightmare 5. Billion Dollar Babies 6. School's Out 7. Flush the Fashion 8. Muscle of Love 9. Constrictor 10. Trash My least favorites would be the first 2 plus Dada, Zipper Catches Skin and Special Forces.
