Clear pots are awesome, but seeing you grow these plants out instead of cutting them up to make money and showing us the true potential of these great plants is fantastic. Keep the info coming. we appreciate it more than you know. THANKS!!!!

SAME HERE! I'M ON A VERY LIMITED INCOME SO I GOT TO DO WHAT I GOT TO DO FOR ALL MY PLANTS UNTIL I CAN AFFORD BETTER POTS AS MY BABIES GROW BIGGER! MAYO. JARS, P.B. JARS, ANY KIND I CAN SEE THRU DOES THE TRICK! MY PROBLEM IS I JUST LEARNED ABOUT LECA SO SWITCHING FROM SOIL OVER TO THE LECA, R WE SUPPOSED TO LET THE PLANT STAY IN WATER FOR AWHILE, THAN DO THE LECA? SOMETHING ABOUT THE PLANT GOING INTO SHOCK I HEARD, IDK?! ALSO, Y DO SOME PUT HOLES IN THEIR CONTAINERS, SOME DON'T....WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR THIS? PRO'S & CONS?! THANKS FOR READING & ANY SUGGESTIONS..... HAPPY PLANTING GUY'S!!!

@@jameswalls705 if you love your plants passive hydro will kill then in the long run. The hole is to keep the water level low, the leca wicks up the water while providing air for the roots. Fertilisers will go up in cost and you will over pay for the blends at hydroponic stores. No organic material will inevitably up the PH. Most plants in semi hydro need to be kept above 18c. Water moulds will eventually kill plants without fungicides. The holes help to flush out the containers. The more you flush the more successful you will be with salt build up and keeping PH from getting too high.

I love doing this. You'll be amazed how some that look poorly at the top have excellent root systems and just need seperating, repotting and leaf removal so that healthy ones are left for it to keep growing. Recently rescued 2 swiss ( one is slightly sickly looking yet those leaves are doing EVERYTHING to fight dying so we're using a clear pot over the top to raise some humidity for new shoots to grow and we can then give these struggling fighters a break) a Mican (which since I split it's pot & tidied its leaves up it's thriving, it was funnily enough a bunnings throw away) and a marble queen I saved from death of over watering from Woolies (it's absolutely going gang busters, to the point we can make cuttings and attempt my first propagation) so yeah even if something you're given or aquired looks like it's on it's way out you can save them with a little TLC. They might take a bit longer to grow but they'll definitely recover fast knowing they're getting care. Wish you lots of luck with your plant babies!

If any of your viewers happens to live in Switzerland: Landi has fantastic transparent pots that hold up pretty well. They also carry orchid bark, that's useless for most epiphytic orchids (other than some in the oncidium alliance), but brilliant for aroids when mixed with perlite, which they have too.

Just recently I repotted ALL of my plants into clear pots. I live in Germany and here we get them in all sizes from 6cm up to 21cm in any garden center. They are sold as orchid pots but are just regular nursery pots. I switched my plants from soil to a non-organic mix (DIY "Pon" but chunkier) and it's really easy to see the moisture level of the minerals as well as root growth.

I like to get baby plants or cuttings if I try a new plant. First, they are a joy to watch as they grow so fast. Second they don't cost as much, so if my conditions are not good for it or if my care is lacking, then I didn't lose a lot of money. Of course I know that they'll all be big one day (hopefully), but I'll focus on where to put them when that time comes 😂

Clear pots was probably the single most important thing I did that made my plants super happy! I mean, made me be able to care for them in a way that made them happy! I switched over a year or so ago and never looked back! I can’t do pots if they are not see through. I will find something to make a pot if it doesn’t come in the size I need gallon jugs, acrylic ice /drink buckets(?) from party stores, bulk containers for like pretzels or cheese balls 😂. I use a soldering iron to make holes and melt the rim to soften the cut. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is a reason most indoor plant are from the tropics, desert or whatever. We have indoors a pretty constant high temperature. I'm guessing, but it's probably more than 18°C on most times for most people. I am living in central europe (Germany). In winter it's freezing outside and many local plants need this. So I just can't keep them inside, when winter comes. The other way around would tropical plants etc. be dead if they get too cold. And in the first place, I can't imagine, which of our local plants would be attractive as indoor plant (besides ivy, but that isn't to my liking either). There is an exception I believe. Carnivores are actually popular indoor plants, that need it cool in winter. At least from where I am from. They are not native in Germany, but com from the same latitude, which means that we have a similar climate to their native habitat. I destroyed some of them, before I learned that they need it cool in winter.

Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Aurea’ ( like the Goldilocks/Neon Epi. aurea, depending on the PBRs of the part of the world you’re in ) full Hypo- yellows also came from Australian native plants. The Epi. pinnatum ‘ Aurea-Variegata ‘ came from Indonesia. You have to know someone to obtain full Aureas. People like Kaylee Ellen ramp up the hype, inflate the value and then the plants are practically worthless. You’d be surprised what Australian Aroid growers have. I’ve even got high variegated Zz ‘ Ruby Raven ‘. The picture online aren’t high quality plants. As for the Monstera deliciosa plants everywhere it’s one of the main species used to teach meristem culture ( both flasking and replating ) to our undergrad students at UQ.

It’s not brain surgery 😅 That cracked me up 😂 no most of the time a bit of research and common sense goes a long way, but sometimes can feel complicated with all the different options and endless ways to do things 🫣 BUT yes we should have FUN! It’s meant for fun! 👏🙌

Terrific video! I wish it was easier to find larger see-through containers. I notice that your bigger plants are in small (to me) pots. Do you find those plants like to be somewhat pot bound? And a request…let’s not call ourselves parents. As an adoptive parent, I know how hurtful it is for children to have adoption belittled. My daughter has been compared to a dog by a girl trying to understand adoption. We parent children, not plants or dogs.

Thank you & thanks for letting me know. Totally see you point, always learn something new 👍🏻 the pots are that small because most of the root system is within the moss pole itself :)

@@sydneyplantguy As a biological and adoptive parent to children as well as a plant parent. They all have the same goal raising something/someone into an amazing being just like you are doing! Love your plant babies 🌿💚 Ty for educating us and sharing your journey.

Best advice I've seen yet!! Growing plants is really an individual journey and it varies substantially from person to person according to their resources and environment. I draw most of my inspirations from you, Daryl (Houseplantjournal) and Paz (Paz_plantlife) but I have never really strictly followed any of your suggested methods. I'm just gathering materials that I can source locally and have had a lot of successes in the last two years!!
