My dear sister what we go through in the UK working with evil people..... I've been here 18 years working with the NHS too and some people are just so wicked. I always defend myself whenever they start. Two days ago an (oyibo) nurse overdosed a patient by giving 3 times the dose. This patient instantaneously turned red, was sweating and shaking with dizziness for hours. This nurse jokingly mentioned it in the handover and no colleague, manager, consultant or matron talked about it. She returned to work the next morning still talking and laughing about it. It was nicely swept under the carpet. Hmmmmm God will help us. Thanks for this video, I've subscribed.
My dear, some of these unions are racists as well. In fact they work in hand with the stakeholders and employers to bully black nurses, especially the most popular ones here in the UK. (I won't mention names) It's better to join unions or groups that support black/African nurses. I can recommend one if you want.
Things like this is so scary, when you work with people and they are hostile towards you. That was how my girlfriend who was a care assistant and wanted to go and study Nursing just changed her mind after working in the hospital 😢

Somebody help me. I’ve worked in my new trust for less than 2 months and I’ve been reported 3 times. I’m trying my best in this ward. But they don’t seem pleased. One of the reports said that “I don’t seem interested in my job” 😓
Please speak to ur mentor or manager and ask if they can give u trainings and assist you through your preceptorship and gaining competencies, as they feel you are not delivering. It's their responsibility to train and support you. 2months is too soon to write you off!
Heyy! My sister, you just started a job and they're treating you this way? Those are red flags. Even if you get the training that Becca is suggesting to you, they will still find problems for you. Pls request to be transferred to a different ward or better still, RUN!! I know what I'm talking about. As a former nurse of over 10 years in the NHS and agency. I will say nursing is not for beginners, especially agency nursing. I was taught this phrase "if it was not written it did not happen " always update your nursing notes . During handovers on each shifts I would write the names of the nurses and their pin number who I took handover from and write would they handed over to me . Then I would write what I observed and do my bedside checks and nursing assessment. Because when they give you that vibe that they dibt like you, they do that it's sad.
Exactly with me too, people telling me, some one character/ behaviour. I rather study them and act on my own intiution.👏👏👏good job. Even you are old in the job they can still intimate you. 2 to 3 staff that provoke& intimated me were about to be sack, but is my decision to go. One of them apologised & I asked why apologised. If you see them now you will be sorry for them.

It’s true , if you did not go back to defend yourself, your career could have ended just because of lies. I was in the register Fromm 1998 till 2017. The UK government through NHS educated me during those years but they did not hesitate to abruptly end my career of which I am still hurting to date. They say it is ‘done and dusted’😢
Sorry for your experience. Out of curiosity and listening to the video and then I came across your: having your pin taken does it mean you will never practice as a nurse? Even in a different country lets say maybe your home country?
The blame and shame against black nurses in NHS is too much, they are always setting trap for you to fall in. They sweep their own under the capet but very fast to report falsehood so is always good to defend yours with your notes and documentation. You should have documented that you didn't know how to use the pump and asked for help
Ha!!! Thank God o. I became scared again hearing this because I am learning to become resistance to their toxicity not to run. But now i hear RUN..hmm! This toxicity is almost everywhere, I am so sad hearing your experience even though it's 3yrs ago. I have a question pls, If right or wrong. Things like this,I always write them in my report. Whatever is left for me to do or what I could not do because I didn't get help. I will write them that it has not been done and it has been handed over just to prevent issues like this but I don't know if it's right. At times, I even put name abbreviation in the report but I always have a feeling that it's not right in the UK. I don't want this writing to come against me especially mentioning of names. E.g.,.i write as little that patient could not be assisted with meal, no HCA available to help, and it was handed over to C.F. Do I actually have to write every unnecessary thing in my report just because I am scared. I developed this attitude because i worked in a toxic place in my country and only your write up and charts before you left the shift can defend you not the defence after . So pls, is this good in UK or not? I can see that your proof was your chart timing and the 2 ppl who went silent and it was accepted.

You're a strong woman Becca. And thank God for your resilience. I have still not come to terms with how mean some nurses can be. By all means report, but why lie on someone or even wish someone lose their pin. I had a similar experience but the next morning I was in the superior's office to tell my own part of the story. Even that, i couldnt sleep so far as my name was in there. Prayer, Prayer !!!!!
Some people lie due to their lack of accountability and failing to take responsibility for for their actions. The way my eye opened after that incidence errr, anyone who repeat that dier, I'm suing them straight!!

I can relate.Someone accused me of stealing a pt s bank card and money ,yet i was nit even on duty when it happened.I just wonder what could have happened if i was on duty😢
One night when I reported on duty as a junior carer, a Phillipino senior carer handed over a new resident and said I have done everything but in his room there is small case you must take the pictures of the contents and report to me in the morning, I requested her to accompany me to the resident’s room and show me the small case and you know what ? The small case was opened already with bank cards many many pound notes and I declined to do what she asked and asked her to do it before she goes home. She was very bitter but she did it.
This is why i am leaning towards social work even though i love nursing and its flexibility however i have seen alot happening...will jist stick to the 9 to 5 and work towards being self employed
Social work is not 9-5. Oftentimes, especially when on duty, and an emergency comes up, we can leave work at way past 5. For example, if you are placing a child into foster care. Social work also comes with its own problems and challenges. Nasty colleagues are every where in terms of public service. There’s a blame and shame culture. Nonetheless, as long as you don’t fall into that culture of blame, and try to be an advocate for families and communities, are able to stand up for yourself, you’ll be great. Challenges will come but you’ll overcome each one of them. Good luck hun! ❤️
It's actually against the ethics to have cameras where patients are receiving care unless with thier consent, so theirs usually no cameras in the wards
