Yo actually, playing a very familiar game in a secondary language that you have a bit of education in seems like a great way to learn and practice that language.
Rude% had so much potential that wasn't tapped into because CJ ended it early. Lost has a bunch of opportunities to be mean to Cappy, while Metro is full of people to terrorize. I'd say that if you really want to use the "beating Bowser is too helpful" logic, then end the run after Luncheon because at that point the only kingdoms left are focused on defeating bad guys; there's plenty of rudeness potential from Lost through Luncheon that should be exploited.
@@gengarzilla1685 What you actually want to do is let Cappy get captured by Klepto right away, and then ignore him while you collect all the required moons to leave the kingdom. Only then do you go and “save” him.

At 3:40, the moon.s name in Chinese is called "Even cactus wants to walk". Therefore, you technically helped this cactus walks and failed the challenge.

Idk if you’ve done this before but I’ve heard of this mechanic: rock paper scissors%. Whenever Mario collects a moon, he does one of three hand poses: a fist, an open palm, or a peace sign. These could act as rock, paper, and scissors. Whenever you collect a moon, you have to play rock paper scissors against Mario. If you win or tie, nothing happens. If you lose, you have to get one more moon before you leave the kingdom. This also stacks, so if you lose 5 times in one kingdom, then you have to get 5 extra moons before you leave the kingdom. (Also, story moons do not have this animation, so do not play on those moons)
I remember there was someone who did this, Fir [editing his name after looking it up]... He ended up taking forever to win though (instead of requiring extra moons per loss, I think it was a 'first to 5 wins' and losing 5 times required the run to restart, where Fir had to restart like 8 times). Would always be funny watching someone else do it with this ruleset.
I mean, run's probably over... Halfway through Cap kingdom, when you have to hit the lever with Cappy to activate the bridge? If there's a player controlling Cappy with the objective of not progressing... that thing's not getting pressed and you're not even 5 minutes into the game. Not to mention all the other required moments Cappy's used for either captures or various tricks that would skip captures or just for platforming.
@@mastermewtwo5503 I actually did this (through sand) with one of my friends, and we had a rule that every 10 seconds, cappy had to come back to mario. It worked out pretty well.
IDEA: Reset% set a timer of anywhere from 5-10 min. Every time the timer goes off, no matter where you are, you have to warp to the odyssey. ( also, no story moons unless required to go on).👍
I got a rather simple idea that could be fun. A completely normal speedrun but every bonk (hoping those aren't so common that it becomes annoying) you have to play the first level of a randomly selected game. (you would curate the list of games that can be picked yourself) I feel like if there's games you've been wanting to try out or know the community has highly requested this challenge can help with that. :D
Bowyer%: "Fix it, I will, nya! Shoot an arrow, I shall. When a target it hits, that Button... LOCKED!" - each time you get a moon, randomly spin a button that you cannot use until you get another moon, changing the locked button to something else.
Controller% : every time you finish a story section of a kingdom you change how you play the game. (Example: finish cap kingdom on hand held, switch to on big screen.) "This includes all necessary story moons. And kingdom changes/progression."
Rude% is very similar to my idea of chaos% where you also collect as few story moons as possible, leaving each kingdom in chaos. My last playthrough was that, except I'm not a speedrunner so I didn't use advanced strategies.

Theoretically, he doesn't help anyone be chasing bowser out of cloud kingdom (and also ruined kingdom lol) because there are no inhabitants. Even more so, bowser does not terrorize any kingdoms of the second half of the game if he is never chased away from cloud, so it would be Mario's duty to chase him out of cloud. Actually, if looking from that perspective, one would have to play up until the church in moon kingdom, as fighting the Broodals is also not illegal in Bowsers because there, they don't actually harm anyone other than Mario.
Idea: Puppeteer% Beat the game while only collecting moons while Mario has captured something else(whenever possible) Or in other words, beat the game with the minimum number of moons collected as Mario
One that could work is wheel% and the gimmick is that you spin a wheel with an assortment of numbers and you spin it and whatever number it lands on could be the number of jumps or captures you could use for that kingdom.
Assault via axe%, Beat the game with enough moons to purchase the Zombie Headwear, Purchase the headwear, go to metro kingdom, and throw Cappy (an axe) at 10 civilians.
speedrun idea: random name% before starting the run, take a random book that you have on your shelf, open a random page, and whatever the first word on that page is, you have to use that word insted of the word "Mario", and if you say "Mario" even once you have to start the run over
Fir did this, and there was a first to 5 rock paper scissors thing against Mario in the moon collection animations, and he had to reset like 6 times lol
Moon cliping any %:get all moons that you can clip to obtain in every kingdom then get moons that can not be clipped to obtain so you can go to the next kingdom
Do a reset run%. One you finish Cap and Sand Kingdom without skipping cutscenes, you reset your game, but not the timer. One you do this 10 times, you can end the run.
