Greetings from Finland again.😊Thank you for yours reaction I just check yours playlist and noticed that you havent whatch the Devil and the deep dark ocean yet. 🤩 That song is 🔥 I recoment the Buenos Aires live version.❣️ And love for this band is, because this band is amazing, only of its kind in the world. ❤
Yep, you listen to Nightwish for the first time like I did 2 years ago having somehow not having heard of Nightwish or Floor and a wonderful obsession begins. Phenomenal band with all members masters of their craft fronted by the best vocalist that I have ever had the pleasure and privilege to see and hear. Dozens more great Nightwish songs to enjoy 🙏😊👍❤️
Troy is singing in Welsh at the beginning. It translates as: The sound of the mist, the smell of the mossy forest, Granite, lichen, and the moon, Sewing my wings into the tapestry of life
I really love your enthusiastic reactions, thank you very much. Please go on with your reactions to Nightwish songs, for me you cannot do too much reactions to this band. And although I love the music of Nightwish in general this song is one of my all-time favourites. Songs like this, Elan and some others bring so much beauty and joy to my life.
If this song doesn't make you happy, and want to dance around your home....I don't know what makes you happy!!! I love, love this song! Lanae...you really need to follow up with "Alpenglow!" You can get up out of your chair and dance along with Floor!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FrJvKZNEh7g.htmlsi=ZBnXbXwTxWdO-m0p
Yey! An other Nightwish song!❤ I can't stop listening to them either... And you know what.. there are a lot of songs more to do, and on top of that, different versions from different live performances. :) So we will be stick with you for a long time yet ;) See you soon
Thanks for sharing your genuine reaction to a song inspired by David Thoreau's book "Walden" (or "Life in the Woods" first published in 1854. Thoreau was an American transcendentalist writer & the book is a reflection upon the author's simple living in natural surroundings. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and -to some degree - a manual for self-reliance.
Troy is truly a star, there doesn't seem to be an instrument he can't play. The Uilleann pipes is of course the crowd favorite, including me. I've always had a soft spot for reeded instruments.
No problem, just keep them coming. We of the Nightwish Army all feel the same. And we like your reactions. Audio.... not so bad.... don't worry to much. 😎
Hi, the Anette-era song is Meadows of Heaven BTW ;) This is a fantastic review of our favourite band and Floor and the boys are on fire with this song!
yes meadows of heaven anette era nightwish song. remember listening audio version theres usa gospel singers, live versions not have :) thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
This is one of the songs that we wish would never end. Always enjoy your reactions, don't change anything. You have a lot of songs to do, NIGHTWISH concert and FLOORS concert and they are releasing a new album in September. You are doing great. More please.
Ayreon, After Forever, ReVamp, Northward, Epica, with her ex-band mate Mark (no relation) and her friend Simone, Sabaton "Christmas Truce", at the end credits. Her solo album: "Paragon".
Its always fun to see your reactions with every new nightwish song. I discoverd nightwish last year - and this band changed my whole mind about metal music. I have to hear at least one song every day 😀
Don;t panic Lanae - the new Niightwish album comes out in September so you should be up to speed by then. We can all listen to the new stuff together after that. Nightwish recently signed a new multi album deal with their record company, so there is more to come/
Troy starts the first verse in Welch: Sain y niwl Gaunt y goydwig fwsog Gwenithfaen, cen y coed, a'r lleuad A gway f'adenydd and dapestri bywyd Translated: The sound of the fog Gaunt the mossgoydwig Granite, lichen and the moon One woe my wings for the tapestry of life
Great reaction! Song is inspired by Henry David Thoreau's book Walden about his experience living in a small cabin next to Walden Pond for 2 years. He lived a simple life, mostly keeping to himself, but still interacting with the wider world. Thus the lyric "I do not wish to evade the world but I will forever build my own." As a transcendentalist he believed in the virtue of living a simple life close to nature. Thoreau consider his time on Walden Pond to be his own little slice of heaven and Tuomas is using Walden as a similar metaphor for building you own "heaven" in your life, whatever that may be. Troy is an Englishman from Cumbria which borders Scotland and has a long history of Celtic influences similar to Wales. Troy is steeped in traditional music, thus his use of folk instruments like the Uilleann Pipes and Irish Whistles as in this song. Troy's previous band, Iona, was a progressive folk band that was from that traditional music genre. Check out Nightwish playing Elvenjig/ElvenPath at either Buenos Aries or Bogota. Elevenjig is an adaptation of an Iona song called Jigs that the band added to their live performance of Elvenpath on the Decades tour. Elvenpath is a song from Nightwish's first album, Angels Fall First, and has lots of fantasy references in it. Since you seem to enjoy the folky/celtic vibes of some of Nightwish's songs you should know that there is a whole sub genre called folk metal that makes extensive use of traditional folk instruments like various pipes, whistles, violins, and one of my favorites, the hurdy gurdy. Check out bands like Eluveite, Saltatio Mortis, Finntroll, Korpiklaani or some of Patty Gurdy's work. I am a huge fan of the hurdy gurdy and it's unique sound so Eluveite is one of my favorite folk metal bands. Echo other comments for Call of the Mountains and A Rose for Epona as a good introduction since both have mostly clean vocals. My favorite Eluveite song is Inis Mona which has a really strong folk element to the instrumentation but has all harsh vocals by Chrigel. I also love Omnos which is sung entirely in Gaulish, the ancient celtic language of the region in Switzerland the band is from. Also to get more hurdy gurdy checkout Patty Gurdy's work. The song The Longing from her band Storm Seeker has anawesome hurdy gurdy intro. Also checkout her work on Scardust's Concrete Cages or her collaboration on Alestorm's Voyage of the Dead Marauder. Alestorm is Pirate Metal and a super fun band.
Their are always more songs and concert`s to watch, you haven`t looked at the Human Nature tour shows yet, I recommend Hellfest 2022 in the daylight and OMG the crowd and stage are giant. also Deichbrand Festival . Totally awesome!!
Out of an absolute stellar list of amazing songs by Nightwish, this one is always the one that I feel that extra little jolt of pleasure when it comes up in my playlist. I absolutely adore it.
Never worry about running out of NIghtwish to listen to or watch. The well is deep even not counting the many spin offs just involving the Nightwsih band members themselves. Add on the many other bands and artists you have and will meet on this journey and you will wish you had more time.
The bits of history too, the misnamed "Denver debacle", when Anette was taken to hospital, where we see how enthusiastic the audience really is, with urgent stand in singers doing the best they can, love them for that!
I enjoy seeing others reactions I only found out about them this year and was amazed by it all its fun to see others discovering them and hearing their reactions
I’ve heard many American reactors say the same thing as you, you don’t get to hear this kind of music in there. Radio stations just play commercial stuff. Thank god for internet! Great reaction, as always!
@Aenea-de9vy I agree, sad because they are the greatest band in the world. And thank God for You Tube!! I haven't listened to an American radio station for over 10 years.
If I may suggest an Annet song which is in my opinion one of the most beautiful Nightwish songs,at least to me , is turn loose the mermaids , would love to see your reaction to that
It is going to take a while to run out of Nighwish songs, so much out there to discover. 🤘 I also ❤Floor. Scaretale is one of the best Annette songs IMHO./
Here is lyrics. The beginning is in Welch, I suppose. Sain y niwl Gaunt y goydwig fwsog Gwenithfaen, cen y coed, a'r lleuad Un gway f'adenydd i dapestri bywyd Light shines bright beyond all the cities of gold On a road of birdsong and chocolate shops Of buskers, jugglers, innkeeper's welcoming call The sound of mist, smell of moss-grown woods Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns Flying higher, higher, higher into the wild Weaving my world into tapestry of life Its fire golden, in my Walden I will taste the manna in every tree Liquid honey and wine from the distant hills An early morning greenwood concerto Greets my Walden with its eternal voice Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns Flying higher, higher, higher into the wild Weaving my world into tapestry of life Its fire golden, in my Walden Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns Flying higher, higher (higher into the wild) Weaving my world into tapestry of life Its fire golden, in my Walden Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns Flying higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher... I do not wish to evade the world Yet, I will forever build my own Build all the way, forever my own Forever my home
Hi, Lanae. Its pronounced Walden as in English, no "V" sound, as you can hear when Floor sings it. The song is based on a book "My Walden, Or Life In The Woods" published in 1854 by US author Henry David Thoreau. The Wembley comment is because Wembley is like the main venue in the UK. When I first met Troy (he still lives near my home city of York, England) well over 30 years ago he was playing small venues, at that particular time in an old de-sanctified Church converted into a very small concert hall. He was there with his old band "U-Slosh"; I was with another band playing the same venue at the time. From what he said, he must have dreamed about one day playing such a big venue as Wembley. I guess we all did, but Troy was the one who actually made it come true. Later in the show Marco says "Good evening Wembley - I had to say it too", so maybe even he had dreamed of it at one time! As for "All the Nightwish songs"...well, they ARE still releasing albums.....so you won't run out of them yet. :) Loved watching your cats play-fighting in the background BTW, lol.
Please don’t apologize for doing too much Nightwish. I’m fine with you doing a Nightwish reaction every day. Troy is the secret weapon of Nightwish. I think he can pretty much play any instrument. Even ones you have never heard of before. I was so glad when they officially made him a member of the band along with Goddess Floor.
Loved your reaction (as always) ❤, there are plenty more Nightwish songs for you to enjoy, however when you do cover them all, can I invite you to revisit each and every one of those songs, for a ‘second take’ with more focus on the lyrics and /or instrumental breakdown. I know for myself, it is only through multiple listens that I really start to absorb the full majesty of the music ❤. I for one, would be there to here your revised take
There is no other band like Nightwish. Not even close. I've been a fan since -98. They amazes me every time I hear them. In my opinion you can do as much Nightwish- videos as you want. Great reaction as always. Greeting from Finland.
I'm one of the _Meadows_ _of_ _Heaven_ fans. There's no good live footage of Anette singing it with Nightwish, just (1) phone cam footage cleaned up by Nightwish Arena, so it all goes a bit mushy when the drums kick in and sometimes the band is drowned by nearby audience members singing along; or (2) Anette singing it with an orchestra, but not Nightwish. Therefore I recommend the studio first (you can explore the rest for yourself if you want afterwards). There's a nice lyric video by Gonda Huisman, others have reacted to this without it being blocked so I'd recommend it. Enjoy!
Troy starts the first verse in Welch: Sain y niwl Gaunt y goydwig fwsog Gwenithfaen, cen y coed, a'r lleuad A gway f'adenydd and dapestri bywyd The sound of the fog Gaunt the mossgoydwig Granite, lichen and the moon One woe my wings for the tapestry of life
You still have a long way to go Lanae. Then you will be waiting for the new record like the rest of us. Honest passionate reactions is what this is all about Lanae. There is a lot to learn. Just focus on Tuomas and how his mind works and it will help you to understand his poetic lyrics. He is a nature lover, and lover of all things science, as well as literature (poetry), and fantasy stories. The loves to use imagery about all things with water such as oceans, and rivers which represent many thing like the unknown and danger as well as the beginning of life on earth. One of his favorite themes is lost innocence of childhood and how the world turns our inner child into a "Dead Boy (or girl). Representing our hardened emotional attitude from all of the tragedy and suffering in the human existence. Just for starters. See you again very soon lovely lady.
When life starts pissin' on your BBQ, throw on some Nightwish to make it all go away. When I introduced my wife to Nightwish maybe 4-5 years ago, she described their music as welcoming. We've all tried to explain Nightwish but ya just can't do it. I think she came about as close as I've ever heard - "welcoming" works for me. I lost her last October. I miss her every day. Walden is one our favs along with "The Islander" from the Tempere show. When you get to the Tempere show, you'll really like "The Islander" and Floor's version of "Sleeping Sun". Both are WHOA.
Excellent reaction 👍 I actually went back and listened to all your Nightwish reactions, and what a journey (but we promised you - so) BUT - young lady - Northward!!! Floor and Jørn Viggo Lofstad (Pagan's Mind) good old sweaty hard rock. The album is called Northward, and was written back in 2008 by Floor - but first finished and released in 2018, due to circumstances - and Nightwish were taking a year off, Floor giving birth to her first child... This song is about Floor's breaking up with her former love - a harsh breaking up... While love died: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bAiPeSsqD-4.htmlsi=hZDchvCBSCoWTlGy
Meadows of Heaven is probably my favourite Anette moment, and a truly beautiful song, so here's a link to it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vxsjv6LtRz0.htmlsi=k9BDYYZdE4gDiIn4
Almost all I Iisten to, NW, & Floor. Not a Tarja person, but can Iisten to Anette. I appreciate she isn't out there singing like she is still in the band.
VolksWagen? Not always :) Troy, the Brit of the group: "If you don't mind, I've been dreaming about this since I was about 9; so can I just say it once?" "Good evening Wembley!" Yay! The cheers from his home crowd. Then he confuses the World, by singing in WELSH! Hahaha! (He's from Workington, Cumbria, quite close the Northern border of Wales...) Floor, "Greenwood Concerrrrto" :) Emppu grinning. You've got a lot of songs to go through yet! "My Walden": "Sain y niwl, Gaunt y goydwig fwsog, Gwenithfaen, cen y coed, a'r lleuad, Un gway f'adenydd i dapestri bywyd
Hay mucho Nigthwish por ver, son 4 conciertos y un sin fin de festivales grabados, revisa algo de "From Wishes to Eternity" es del año 2000 y desde ese tiempo que son buenos.
You might like Alan Parsons project tales of mystery and imagination the album based on Edgar Allen Poe not quite on par with night wish but worth a listen
No "V" sound here. It is in reference to "Walden Pond," a location in Concord, Massachusetts, an essay written by American author Henry David Thoreau. ///// Yes, Tarja's version of Sleeping Sun is definitely worth checking out! It is just different enough to make it unique. If you do watch it, be sure to check out the flapping angel wings on her white gown at 3:37. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0e5HATe9pwY.html ///// I see the kittycats have settled in nicely to their new home! They're having a ball chasing each other around. Love them!! So cute.
First - at last a genre description I can agree with. "Symphonic" metal is nonsensical but I have to use it because it's what people understand. I have said before (and no doubt will again) that "Orchestral" is far more accurate. Symphony is a musical form, not just any collection of classical I struments. So,bwell done! Second, though there are other bands that do this, none do it quite as well (the next best is Epica). Third, others will have said by now that the beginning is Welsh. Meadows of Heaven is one of the best Annette songs, along with Eva (album only, no video) and Slow Love Slow (Montreux Jazz Festival 2012). There's a long way to go before you run out of Nightwish - I have over 30 full concerts on video and you really need to hear albums too, where all the detail can be heard. By the way, Wembley is the home of the FA Cup Finals soccer competition (football as well call it, soccer to Americans who don't know what real football is 😉) which is why Troy refers to a boyhood dream. Also, the "flute" is NOT a flute. A flute is held transversely and played by blowing across the hole This is a whistle, played by blowing directly into the hole In particular this is the Irish Low Whistle in D flat, a Troy speciality. Here's more about Troy: Troy plays: Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone On the pipes(please learn the setlist): "You have to be slightly insane to play them. They're not easy." Tuomas told me he'd been working on "The Eyes of Sharbat Gula" for a while without really hitting the mark. As I was listening to an early demo I thouht it sounded so intriguingly hypnotic that it really didn't need explanatory lyrics. When I mentioned this to Tuomas he said it had never occurred to him to think it like that. The song became an instrumental although there are some ethereal human voices in the background. TONI: Troy, the other new member, didn't have to jump in as dramatically [as Floor], but he has become an irreplaceable part of this group, too. If there's tension in the air for some reason, Troy casts a spell and magically dispels the bad vibes. EWO: Troy radiates the kind of cheerfulness that we sulky northerners can only dream of, but I guess some of his positive attitude has rubbed off on us, too. TUOMAS on touring with Troy: We start preparing about 30 minutes before the show [New York Hammerstein 2915], each of us in his or her own way. Floor changes on her stage clothes and warms up her voice in her dressing room, while we`re warming our fingers in ours. Back in the day, I used to get scared stiff before the show - it was just nauseating, pure horror. It all changed when Troy did some kind of a hypnotic trick to me in Los Angeles in 2012. I really don't know what happened during those twenty minutes, but afterwards, I haven't really panicked before going on stage.
It’s sounds like a different song because Walden tears back harvest is a rehashing of Troy’s earlier work early 80s with his band you slosh ,been given a new lease of life
