Who would have guessed that paperwork will take so long comparing to the actual work. However, I just realized - looking at the car next to you, it looks extremely professional and beautiful. Excellent work, congratulations! I would test-drive it any day :)

I am interested in your alternative lid for the PDM. I read another comment that this was basically for aesthetic reasons to match the original. I am considering this to see if I can reduce the height a little also. Did you save some height when you did this redesign, or is the high point on the domed Nissan lid the height of your new lid? The Nissan lid also has some thick honeycomb structure, whereas I guess yours is a thin sheet? Any details you can share would be useful. Steel or aluminium? Thanks.

the specs they gave you are for the G60 but there was a G60 limited had 210 PS / 207 bhp / 154 kW @ 6500 rpm TORQUE 252 Nm / 186 ft.lb / 25.7 kgm @ 5000 rpm Many people running modified diesels with more than 800nm so you will be fine.

WOW! I had to go through none of that certification with the state of Washington USA. The only thing the licensing was concerned about was that I designated it as a battery electric vehicle so that I then will pay an additional $175 a year for my license tabs.

Wow would have never expected that VW bothers to help us tinkerers :) It's strange with the BMS. I upgraded my conversion from Leaf 24 to 40 kWh and the BMS can was near identical. At least the important messages giving out SoC, current limits and so on had not changed at all. You could also ditch CHAdeMO and jump straight to openinverter Foccci CCS. You can adjust its CAN mapping to understand any BMS. I just drove 2000 km with it and charged a lot on different chargers. Advertising end ;)

I will make a new try with the 40 kWh BMS. It might maybe just be the PDM unit that can’t handle that chademo charging after 2018. Thank you so much for your input 👍🏻👍🏻

Love it i wish we were allowed to modify our cars legally in Denmark, we are basically not allowed to do anything even if it improves the safety of the car or pedestrians or it will cost a fortune

Certification is a real pain. Different in each country and often they ask for things that are just not required or reasonable. The UK actually try and make it difficult so you just don’t bother. The US system seems to just care that you have wheels. Denmark want to make it so difficult that again you don’t bother. IIRC Belgium makes it impossible and would rather you fill your tyres with air from Wolfsburg to make it exactly as the factory made it.

You are so right about that. Here in Sweden it is at least possible and if you just have the right documentations you can pretty much do everything here.

Do you know if VW ID3 and E-Golf use same/identical battery modules? Is it just different number of modules, hense the kW capacity ot they are completely different, i.e dimensions, number of cells inside etc?

They are quite different. VW ID.3 (for the European market) uses large Volkswagen MEB modules (VDA 590 modules, 590 mm * 225 mm * 108 mm). 24 pouch cells (LGX E78, 78 Ah) in each module, either 12s2p or 8s3p. Then 7, 9 or 12 of these modules to create the 45 () , 58, 77 kWh packs. Liquid cooled battery pack. VW e-Golf uses two kinds of modules in is battery case: 17 standard VDA 355 modules (355 mm * 151.5 mm * 108 mm) with 12 prismatic cells inside (4s3p), and 10 half-modules with 6 prismatic cells (2s3p) in them. MY 2014-2016: 25 Ah cells (24,2 kWh gross, 88s3p), MY 2017-2021: 37 Ah cells (35,8 kWh gross, 88s3p). Air-cooled /passively cooled pack.

Yes, I have already been looking at that, but that will interfere with the hood locking mechanism and the radiator, so I decided to make that later. My first priority now is to have the car road legal so I can use it for this summer.

It will only talk to cademo, and there is no adapter that I can use available for it yet

why you not using a free programmable system or change the settings in the bms this should no problem, at least to set the correct voltage range, kwh, and Ah.

Because that this is a really cheap and reliable way to do an ev swap, but I decided to change the capacity, and that’s not recommended… Please tell me how to set the bms to those settings you talk about😃 it will be super nice to be able to adjust them!!!!!

@@flyingtools IT IS nessesary to do those Changes. If they BMS does Not know what capacity it has to expecting this can lead to errors ind the charging system. Means in best case it will Stop charging If IT think it is full and after a while the expected voltage is to Low so He would think there is a Batterie short or so in the system and disconnect the battery. There are some dumb BMS and chargers Out there they do only look about voltage and max current. But the soc depends only one voltage Not in capacity Like actual BMS System. But für your BMS System you need a factory programmer for the obd system. In this Case Car repirshop can helb you at best one who has Access to all System. It was a Nissan right?
