The beard saved you man!!! So glad you're okay and no serious harm. Let's hang that shirt on the garage wall for a good conversation piece! Looking forward to your next update great job so far!
This beard actually caused it while it was stuck to it . This is where You have to think is it good to be with long beard near angle grinder and other spinning tools. This was first thing what they teach in schools that You don’t be near something what can stuck to you. This beard thing is very dangerous just for hanging there. Better cover it with 3M mask if you grind or do other things what can cause this. Same reason You can’t be wearing a tie in working lathe.
@@westcornergroup4375 I disagree. The beard didn't cause the grinder to jump back, and the shirt actually stopped the rotation. I believe the large amount of hair protected against the direct contact, but could be wrong. What would have prevented the kickback is having a second grip handle attached, which was acknowledged.
@@jasonborn867 no way, You don’t know nothing about physical movements! If there wasn’t beard than it won’t be able to go so far at all. This beard was like sucking it deeper and deeper. While grinder was spinning and there was much resistant that was reason while grinder was going deeper and deeper. If there wasn’t any than he had to be able to stop it. That is also nr.1 rule : if You work near in spinning machines You don’t let it hang freely (the beard). It was like written that sooner or later wanna happen. I have seen many accidents about Lathe machines about hanging clothing and it is all the same. Spindle just sucks all in while it spins.
@@westcornergroup4375 No one in the comments has agreed with or reiterated your feedback, but it's possible you are better informed than the rest of us and that I'm simply wrong. No offense taken and appreciate yourt input regardless.
That LOOKED BAD. So glad it was not worse. I went to ER , a while back, as a part I was buffing caught the wheel and ripped my LH index finger open. I was 1.5 seconds from being done !!!!
It is a grace that you weren't seriously injured. I've honestly been quite worried before when you've had sparks flying at your beard. Your family needs you and you are irreplaceable, so please take every care.
Man I’m glad you’re okay bro that was something scary. Those angle grinders are no joke another fella I watch on RU-vid had one catch his shirt and he cut open his arm pretty bad.
Wow; it’s always imperative to keep hair, clothing and jewelry away from any moving parts when working. Also jewelry can make contact with electrical conduits and arc out. Very very dangerous. I am so glad you were not hurt badly. Love the project and I’m dying to see it going down the road.
If you go with an automatic TH350 or TH400 transmission, make sure the trans is in good working order before you install it because you will have to install it attached to the engine. The standing seam on the trans tunnel won't easily allow you to have easy access to the top two bellhousing bolts on these X-frame models. Ask me how I know....
Jason, Son! One can never be too careful, when doing most things in life! I’m so glad you weren’t hurt badly, glad you do wear safety glasses! Yes, those cheaper wire bristle wheels throw wire shrapnel! When I was at work years ago, a guy probably 10 feet from me was using one on a grinder and a couple of loose projectile wires flew across the room and stuck in my body! That made a safety stink at work, they had to put up barriers to protect others from flying debris. You might consider wearing a mask of sorts set just below your bottom lip over your chin/ beard/ lower neck, when using any power tools. Continue to be safe and well, looking forward to further progress on the ‘59 El Camino!
A friend of mine was using a 9" angle grinder when the grinding disc shattered. It took out his overalls, his jeans but left his underpants intact. The family jewels were thankfully not damaged!
God must definitely been watching over you 🙏🏼that’s why I love my sandblaster and don’t get me wrong still have grinders and I’ve been bit a time or two myself,Just thankful you weren’t seriously injured 🙏🏼
Oh man! I'm glad that you're going to be okay, but the accident could have been much worse! You never know what's going to happen when you're using power equipment. Take care of yourself, and I hope nothing like this ever happens again!
Good progress, and I’m glad you came out mostly unscathed. Those machines can have a mind of their own, and I and now you have the scars to prove it. Stay safe and keep up the good work!
Not only do you have to change your shirt now. But you may have to change your shorts too. I glad that you didn't get hurt any worse than you did. You are very rite, (and very lucky), that could have been so much worse.
@@CountryBoyGasGarage MY 1960 EL CAMINO CAME WITH A 283 V8, THEY ALSO CAME OUT WITH A SIX 235, ALSO SEEN A RARE 409 V8 FOUR SPEED! WHAT SIZE MOTOR ARE YOU GONNA USE!
Brother you know that you can make your own sand blaster using a plastic bottle and a air compressor sprayer. I think that might be easier. Good that you're safety beard saved you!
My thoughts exactly, I been thinking about that some time he could build a cheap blaster. Not only would faster it would be a lot safer. Just got keep the sand pit covered to keep the cats out.😅
@@mitchellmally6381 yeah I seen how to make your own sand blaster on RU-vid a few years ago. It's easy to do. Also it works. As I have done it in the past. All you have to do is look it up. I'm sure the video is still up.
Glad you got out of that OK. Never know when something bad can happen. The car is looking great. All that caked on grease is probably what saved the frame. Apart from the pitting at the front horn, it looks in amazingly good shape.
Yep, you were unlucky and also lucky at the same time. Yes you were so correct it could have turned out way worse than it did. Be safe moving forward with the build. Cheers Stew.
Man, that was scary 😳. Don't do that again!!! You know, that would have been hilarious if you did the ear bud commercial while wearing the torn up t-shirt.
You got a warning w/grinder, hope you were listening. Would like to see a trim, leathers, gloves, your call. I like your videos without the drama. thanks for Video
Yeah buddy, it just wasn't your time. A good lesson to us all. How proud you must be, to have laid a handful of whiskers on the altar of sacrifice for the cause of restoration. hard to watch bud. I'm so glad we didn't have to witness what could have happened. we've all has a dance or two with the old wheel of death (unshrouded grinder) says the guy with AFTSMAN tattooed across his forehead. Keep at it, practice, practice, paractice sooner or later you will succeed
Wow Jason Glad you alright there Bud , I think u right the Safety Beard save a lot. But the porcupine wire not good either. But in the Bright side it's looking pretty good Bud 👍✌️
I was in a tight corner with a drill once, and ripped my widows peak right out my forehead. Took 3 years to fully grow back😂😂😂😂😂😂 thank God it was a battery drill, that stopped quickly
I dispise locked thumb switches,I will only use grinders with paddle switches. If you drop it or that happens your hand is off the switch immediately, Be safe Jason
That's why I don't like the cup style brushes. They bounce back too much. I try to use the straight twisted brush and make certain it's rated for the rpm your tool turns. But definitely wear the face mask! They are way cheaper than emergency rooms.
scary when that happens. We used the big one at work ,they would do some se9ius damage. Glad it wasn't worse for you. The frame looks great. As always I liked and shared. ll my very best.
Man jason I was like cringing, I almost didn't want to see what the outcome was, I thought for sure it was to the juggler, holee crap brother yes that could have been way worse, thank goodness it wasn't take care and be safe Aloha
Jason, come on, a motor is electric ! That is a gas ENGINE ! Lol ! Or MILL if your cool ! Peace Brother ! Glad you survived the grinder incident ! Lol ! 👊😎👍
Man after that close call I thank you might won’t to look into getting a grinder that had got a squeeze finger trigger other than just a on and off switch, just something I know I would do. Enjoy watching the progress keep up the good work Jason….and stay safe brother!!!!!
You are very lucky. I've done similar stupid things. Was running an angle grinder with the lock-on engaged trimming nails off in a hot steamy attic. The grinder slipped out of my sweaty hand and fell into my lap. Luckily I was wearing baggy Dickie pants and the grinder stalled when it wrapped itself in the fabric beside my upper thigh. Another blessing was the cord was actually in my lap and I somehow thought to unplug the grinder. Ruined pair of pants and a scratch on my inner thigh was the only damage. I climbed down our of the attic, unwound the grinder out of my pants and told the boss I wasn't feeling well and needed to take a break. He never asked me what happened until days later. I've never used the on-lock on a power tool since that incident. I always leave the guard on, have 2 hands firmly on the tool and am super diligent about checking my surroundings to make sure I never put myself in a situation where I could lose control of the tool. People have accused me of being slow when I work, I just tell them it's called being cautious and wanting to keep working and enjoy it. Nice work on cleaning up the front end and the paint looks great. Look forward to seeing that front end come back together. Be safe and stay well.
Luck guy. Had a similar thing happen to me but on my belly. I was wearing a leather apron my brother had got me, the thick leather saved me from getting cut super deep. I managed to get a cut, but it would have been way worse without that apron. Be safe, man.
I recall the 1st day on the job.I was a military sub contractor for a company called green metal product. I was using an angle grinder with a 6 inch disk on it.Grinding off tabs that were left by weld slag, so they could be painted. They were large brackets but there were multiple surfaces that needed to be ground down. The disk shattered and shot half of the disk into my chest up into my throat and it impaled into the skin in my neck which I still have a scar to this day, it knocked me out and I had to go to the hospital and stay for observation.. I had to have a my airway from the incident because of swelling that was severe. I learned quickly to never lock in the trigger on a grinder.Or take the stabilizing handle off the side during the process of using a grinder. You made it out pretty good, but take precautions as much as possible. It takes but a split second to become tragic. I am glad to see you are in good shape Jason.❤
Man after that event you should have made a B-line straight for lottery tickets!!! Dude, you were so lucky! Sometimes its well worth keeping the sissy handle on it just to help prevent it from rolling over like that, I do with a wire wheel. Those braided wire wheels are violent and catch onto EVERYTHING. The guard does absolutely NOTHING when used with a wire wheel. Lots of work cleaning up a frame by hand, but you did a great job! Looks really nice! Are plans to to all of it or just the front for now?
Ive been so worried about that happening to you man. Im glad it wasn't worse. I rock a big beard too and I alway tuck it in when i use anything that spins.
In my opinion, the beard saved your neck. Other people here on youtube have had the grinders bite them. Gotta be careful with those, they'll bite you quicker than anything.
I sure hope you took that to a doctor at least, it looked scary even if it was just a flesh wound, you were grinding up rust with that thing. Still thank the lord you’re alright and be more mindful in the future. That shirt might belong on the wall now for the story
Hey Jason!!! I love what you got going on with the El Camino!!! I just got caught up on all of the videos. I've been a sub to your channel since I ran across you rescuing the bus out of the woods. I don't remember seeing any new videos on your channel for awhile then I lost track of you until one finally pop up for me. I'm also a sub to TheTravisBee channel. Him and his Dad are all over these El Caminos. Looking forward to seeing how you continue to progress and can't wait to see that thing moving on it's own power soon!!! Thanks for the content. Very entertaining!!!!!
Jason, feel like doing a concrete driveway ? 🤭 A guy is offering a 59 Impala to anyone who will do his driveway. Look it up. Kind of a big drive for a car without a drivetrain.
have dun that before some thing to help is put a handle on the grinder it will help to stop that . when it happen to me it ate my shirt and gut broke a rib or two and left we with 68 stichis
I think those braided wheels are better suited for the 6" grinders. In the 4.5 they feel heavy and poorly balanced. Idk, mines dangerous as well, i wear welding gloves when i use it 😂😂 sometimes....😅
