happy boxing day!! I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday ☺️ I can't wait to show you my christmas day vlog - I had a really fun day and got to swim in my aunt & uncle's infinity pool which has the most incredible views!! anyway that video will be coming very soon but enjoy this video in the meantime because I love this one! it's a nice, chatty video where I reflect on and rank the classes I took in my first semester at yale. I’m a sophomore at Michigan State, and I totally agree with what you said about you Math and Chemistry courses. Entry level math and chemistry courses from my experience are designed to kinda weed people out and not be all that fun. Once you pick a major and get into the coursework for that it becomes a lot better!

I’m sure you’ve learned this by now since this is 2 years later, but in case someone else is reading this, the reason for the in person class requirement for international students is so that international students don’t take only online classes and use that as their physical entrance into the country. There should be a physical reason requiring your presence into the country. I believe this is a result of online only or online majority universities popping up (university of phoenix, SNHU etc) because people studying at those universities don’t technically need to be in the US

as a current UCONN (university of connecticut) freshmanm hearing about Yale is pretty interesting!! UCONN's semester blocks are similar and we have like "reading days" before our finals weeks and all, and we take anywhere between 12-18 credits to be considered full time. I took 14 last semester and I'm currently taking 15 this semester with 4 classes (3 of which have 3 hour labs :/) Thanks for such an interesting video!!! I know ratemyprofessor has helped me quite a bit, so you might want to check that out :)

I’m currently applying to Yale and just finished multivariable calc at Harvard extension, and I’m now starting linear algebra. As a definite Economics major I regret to inform you that if you want to do any serious economics you need multivariable calculus because you need to know things like Lagrange multipliers, partial differentiation, implicit diff, etc in forming your economic models. I should also say that econ is more mathematical than the Econ class suggests.

Wow. Well I have to take Sound Art and we only have Finals but two tests I believe. Then my next class has one final no tests. I don't take so much credits because of my disability, they accepted me three years ago. So I am achieving my dreams. I'm trying to work hard with mentors but we had to take me out because I wasn't paying attention and stuff but I was. Hope you'll like your professors. I like readings so much but it's kind of challenging of vocabulary and stuff, but I hate reading the book Holes many depression parts in the book of it.

I’m curious about chemistry ( I studied chem at uni in Australia and was a lab instructor for first year chemistry for 5 years). Is the lack of practical classes due to COVID? Or are there never practical classes for that subject? Our chem 1 and 2 subjects both had a 3 hour lab session each week.

Was Math 115 business math or just general college algebra? Because each major has a specific math requirement you need to take. I had to take Calculus for life sciences for my life sciences major.

Wouldn’t you want to specialise in an area of study rather than taking a bunch of random subjects you probably won’t use?

Tia has mentioned she didn't know what she wanted to specialise in when she left school and going into university. I guess this method forces you to work out what you do and don't like. But I think the Australian system works well where you can specialise as soon as you begin uni, or you can do a double arts/science degree with similar subjects to what Tia did this year. I knew what I wanted to do in a specialised area but somewhat regret that I choose a degree with no elective courses. But it does get me into a defined job end of next year haha
