You have such an interesting story, and it is so important to shine a light on the abuses perpetrated by your (ex-?)church and other religious communities. In order to overcome oppression, we must first acknowledge who the oppressors are. Thank you for sharing your story; I wish you continued peace.

A long time ago someone said to me "Hate on hurts the hater." And I realized them that hating someone or something only has a negative impact on the person doing the hating. It rarely has any affect on the other person. It's not easy to learn to stop hating, but if you can achieve it you will be a happier person for it.

+T. H. Chau Genesis 19 actually stated that the people were going to destroy the city in Supposedly Gods name. Last time I checked the bible also said that we must love our neighbors as ourselves and that we should not murder or bring harm to anyone else. May I also remind you that we follow a Jesus who despite backlash from his disciplines still forgave a prostitute and treated her just the same as everyone. I'm not a complete expert on the Bible but I am pretty confident that God would not appreciate violence toward any group or people. And even if He did, He would do it himself. We are not God to dish out that kind of punishment onto other people.

+T. H. Chau In original Hebrew and Greek are the inspired words of God. The translations are definitely not. In Gen 19 the word for "men" has been translated as "people" in dozens of places eg "Let the people go" Ex 10:7. It is equally valid to translate Gen 19:4-5f "All the people of Sodom came out....Where are the people who came with you tonight?..." Sodom is mentioned 47 times in the Bible. If you can find one verse that says Sodom was destroyed because of homosexuality or that it even occurred there, would you let me know please? (Retired Baptist Pastor is very proud to be gay and has gone through electronic shock therapy to try to change me. It didn't work, but it did prove medically I was born gay as the Dr confirmed).
