Those of us who know April Wine know what an incredible talent we have in Myles Goodwin. The countless hits April Wine created forged the backdrop of our youth. His voice, along with his artistic songwriting and incredible guitar playing is immeasurable in depth. It is hard and sad to comprehend a farewell departure of Myles Goodwin. But I lived through this era of rock and roll here in Canada, and am forever grateful for the more than 50 years of April Wine hits, now classics that I still listen to today. We owe you an unpayable debt of gratitude Mr. Goodwin sir! Thank you, for the many years you've shared your remarkable talent with us. You are truly a Canadian treasure, inspiration, and icon! Your legend will undoubtedly live on!
Austin, Texas early 1979...Rush and April Wine. What a great time! Rush was great (of course) but that 3 guitar thing y'all had going on was something very special. Thank you, Myles!
Saw the same show in Salty Lake City. Great concert! Bittersweet moment to watch this video. Us dinosaur rockers remember all the great music from the 70's & 80's the memories, the concerts, and sadly, another great band is saying goodbye. Eddie Van Halen Neil Peart Ronnie Montrose and so many more now departed and you know this kind of raw talented music is never coming back.
This is sad. All good things must come to and end though. What a great contribution you've made to Canadian music and music in general, Mr. Myles Goodwin. All the best to you, thank you, God bless!
I’m only 58 and live in Colorado. Hard to believe the Harder Faster record was my introduction to the band. Of course since then I’ve gone back in the catalog and fell in love with those records too. Legendary band both in Canada and the USA.
My first AW album was On Record back in '72 and I saw them on that tour. Loved them ever since and saw them perform at least a dozen times over the years. What a great band. RIP MYLES 😢😢
@@The_Story_Channel My regards to the musicians, but there were many more than these great musicians through out the differing phases of April Wine, however I give my respect to all of them.
Respect to all the musicians especially the Henmans and everything but, no, you are correct Myles's voice is integral to the sound of the band. HUGELY. I don't know why ANYONE would want to pay to hear and see an April Wine without Myles. It's sacrilege. But people are doing it. I've seen the video footage. It has ZERO appeal to me. NONE. Instead of paying $40 to see this band (I can't even call them AW) at a casino you are better off just going to any bar with a good house band. If they're older they'll know and play most of the Wine's hits. Free. Really there is no difference now. We are talking about musicians who are just covering someone else's material at this point. Jesus, just let the memory of the band lie. Have some dignity for your band's legacy.
@@misterslatsJust seen them Saturday night. New guy sounds awesome and the band sounded just awesome. Myles picked this guy to replace him and I feel people should give him a chance .
Didn't realize how much Myles' death would impact me and I'm not quite sure why I didn't? This band was the soundtrack of my high school days in the mid-80's and they brought immense joy and comfort to a young kid that had no friends and was just a complete loner. Thank you so much Myles and company. Rest easy my friend.
I have to say that Canada produces some of the greatest and nicest rockers. I love the vibe of April Wine, Rush, SAGA, Triumph, Loverboy and others. Thank you for just being great Ambassadors of music.
The most underrated Canadian band in history, yes i know they did have a lot of success here in Canada and are well known, but still, they should have been much bigger in the US and worldwide, they had so many amazing songs, Myles incredible voice, and top notch musicians. Pure legends.
They were already legends here in Canada way before anywhere else... they should've been way bigger in the U.S., they rocked harder than bands like say, REO Speedwagon etc etc ever did. RIP Myles 😢😢
I saw April Wine in concert more times than i can count and they always rocked hard and kicked ass. Myles is, was and always shall be a legend and this is indeed sad news. And no i am not interested in seeing April Wine without him, no matter how great the new guy is.... there's no way.
April Wine was one of my favorite bands growing up! I'm now 60 and still crankin their music and other bands till my end, Thanks Myles for rocking in my time here on earth RIP
I attended your last concert in Nova Scotia, and I want to thank you for all your wonderful work over the years. I enjoyed the show emesnsely. God bless. See you in Pictou hopefully
Just between you and me..that tune is our tune (me and my wife). That was the song that defined our courtship back in 1980-83 and our marriage on 1984. But ive been listening to the wine since 1971.
I first saw them when they toured their 2nd album back in '72. Amazing concert. I was hooked and saw them so many times since then, they always rocked hard in concert. Hard to say goodbye to Myles. RIP dear sir and thank you for all the great music. 😢😢😢
I still listen to First Glance. My favourite April Wine album. So many good songs. I even got to see them back in the 80's on their Nature of the Beast tour. Best wishes to you Myles
I'll never forget the NATURE OF THE BEAST tour at CNE STADIUM where LOVERBOY opened for you guy's and l was near the front, you guys blew me away. That album to this day rocked my ass off and you guy's brought it that night. I was sooo pumped it took me awhile to come back to reality. THANKS MYLES and the BAND you had at the time.
Discovered AW 45 years ago, been fav group since, never saw live cos in uk, but so emotional. Happiness, love and harmony to every AW member. Gonna save up ma wee bawbees get a passport and see Brian and the boys before i fall off the perch !
Miles was a true original and April wine were and still are the greatest Canadian band. Thank you Myles Goodwin for all the great songs and brilliant albums, Live at the El mocambo was one of my most played albums ever. You have now gone home to entertain and light it up like only you can. There will never be another like you and I hope you find peace, harmony, happiness and love where ever you are.
What a great Legacy💪. Myles Goodwin the impressive ROLLER and influential key figure of canadian Rock. 1st time witnessing Aprilwine in their prime in 1980 on a double bill with Krokus in Hannover, Germany. Never 4gotten👌.
My oh my April Wine is such a kickass band... My northerly brothers along with Triumph and, of course, Rush rocked my world in high school. I'm an old fart but still love these bands. How about the outtro on 'I like to rock'?
I saw April Wine back in 1979, they opened for Styx. They blew Styx doors off! Just love this band. He seemed pretty healthy. I wonder why he passed. Really gonna miss him. I’m sure he’s up there making all kinds of cool music. ❤
I guess most people have an April Wine story, and this one is mine. Back in October of 1978, I bought tickets to see Styx at the Coliseum in Spokane Washington with Thin Lizzy as the opener. For some reason...I can't remember exactly why...but the show was cancelled to be rescheduled at a later date. That day came about the following year on April 1st and it was now April Wine as the opener instead of Thin Lizzy. Having already heard of April Wine and owning a few of their records, this was a much more exciting concert in my opinion than the cancelled date. Sadly, it was my only time seeing Myles and his band perform live, but I was grateful for the opportunity, and all because of a cancellation. Rock In Peace Myles. I will always play your songs until I find my final resting place. 🎶
