wanted to let you guys know some of those babies are not normals, they’re motleys! a tessera has to have a complete or almost complete stripe to be a tessera, so some of the babies that have mostly spots but a little bit of stripes are motleys. I’d recommend looking up the difference so you can see! They’re all beautiful though! Moonstone is definitely a keeper 😁

@FunSize4Audibles 10 месяцев назад
Came here to say this! Mom definitely looks like a motley rather than a tessera. Another key indicator of a motley is the plain white belly with no checkers. Tesseras can sometimes have plain bellies, but not always. Motley never has checkers, only a patternless belly. Tesseras also have more pattern on their sides usually. Still a great clutch! Edit: Also, I'm thinking there's a good chance the anery baby is what's called a pinstripe motley. Motley is a bit of a weird gene that varies a lot in expression.

Definitely keep Moonstone a couple of her babies. It makes the hatching videos even more fun & exciting to see such variety. Also, a lot of people get their first snake because they watch your videos. Hognose & ball pythons can be tough sometimes for beginners because they don't always eat well. Bull snakes don't always have the greatest personalities for beginners. Corn snakes though are usually good eaters with nice personalities and easy care, so they make great reptiles for beginners.

Seeing the morphs of the babies make it even more surprising that Moonstone was given up for adoption. The fact that she's het snow and was clearly bred with a similar male.
@baasparkopenings851
@baasparkopenings851 10 месяцев назад
You'd be shocked. I have a visual snow corn snake I adopted awhile back. I was told and under the impression that it was a male, which was a bit more understandable. But just the other day "he" laid eggs! Hasn't been paired or anything in the 5 years since I got "him".
@dorinachan113
@dorinachan113 10 месяцев назад
My assumption is that Moonstone was thought to be male, they bought another male they paired up and oops Moonstone is a she and not a he. So they didn't know how to care for the eggs lol and thought to send her to adoption island. lol I guess.
@DRAG0NSPIRIT10
@DRAG0NSPIRIT10 10 месяцев назад
@@dorinachan113 But for to have happened the two snakes would have to cohabed together, you don't keep Corn Snakes together as far as I know. Personally I still think that Moonstone may have belonged to a breeder who had to downsize their collection for whatever reason.

@tenshikaren
@tenshikaren 10 месяцев назад
@@DRAG0NSPIRIT10 Or the person knew she was full of eggs and intentionally gifted the snake of surprises to Ed & Emily. They mentioned a few years back that they like to breed clutches with lots of variety and Moonstone couldn't be more than a few years old. Someone may have held back a snake from a high end breeding project, enjoyed the channel and knew these guys would enjoy it, hoping they would keep her too even if she didn't prove out the traits they were breeding for, Whatever the case, super strange to me that they didn't surrender a male too. Most people who are forced to surrender can't find/don't know anyone else with snakes, but this owner clearly had at least 2 very expensive corn snakes and you don't just pick those up off the side of the road or get them from someone in passing. If it was a living situation change, or necessary downsizing, it seems insane to me that you would just get rid of 1 like that... especially with those genetics and gravid.

Seeing the variety of gene expression... my immediate thoughts are: 1. You're keeping Moonstone... right??? I definitely feel like she's in great care with you guys. Y'all and your whole crew are such amazing reptile guardians. 2. How many babies is Emily going to fall in love with and not want to part with? I don't think I could give up half that clutch. As a cornsnake owner this just might be my new favorite Snake Discovery video. I first stumbled upon this channel about 4 years ago while researching in preparation for realizing my childhood dreams of owning a snake and have been faithfully watching ever since. I now have two corns, a het lavender het motley aberrant with Aztec patterning named Quetzal, and a Lavender motley named Tofana. This channel has been slowly building my confidence and I do plan to breed them after about another year. After seeing these babies hatch and their immediate sweet and silly personalities I am psyched to produce some of my own! P.S I'm not entirely sure because they're so little yet, but I think I see some motleys in this group.

There's a breeder at one of the local expos who mostly does corn snake ans rat snake breeding who talks about how corn snakes are always a surprise to breed because they've been so popular for so long and have so many morphs, that, unless the snake is wild caught which he does not recommend, it's almost certainly het for a half a dozen traits.

Amazing how emily has changed my life. Everytime i make breakfast, i tapped my eggs on the counter, about to crack it open, i heard her voice:" yup, the goop is clear" and immediatelly i'm so excited to crack eggs. My day starts so energic only by cracking eggs! Thank you emily ❤

Please keep Moonstone and several of her babies; they are so diverse and beautiful! I love the one with just the strip and the albinos and the gray one (can't spell the correct name 😂) and the snow and the normals are pretty too! What a great surprise clutch. This will probably be my favorite hatching video with all the surprises. I can't wait to see more of the babies

Oh please please please keep Moonstone! Cornsnakes are one of my favorites and one of THE best snakes for beginners! I think on top of being a genetic powerhouse cornsnakes are usually amazingly calm as adults and could be amazing for programs too ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Hey Emily. Mom is a motley pattern. The motley or stripe morph removes belly checkers while tessera corns have black belly checkers. Babies should be motleys! Congrats!

(Friendly) I think you have a typo, I make that one all the time since I'm dyslexic and just use positioning to type instead of actually looking at the letters to avoid a headache. But yeah that's the mark of a true animal lover. Wasps get a pass from me if they are outside or easily captured (they are vital for the ecosystem, I wish they weren't but yeah) but even if I do unfortunately have to kill one I'm at least smart enough to stand at arms length with gloves on and use an implement to do it they can keep the 2-pentanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, and 1-methylbutyl 3-methylbutanoate to themselves
@ThePhoenixUnderwater
@ThePhoenixUnderwater 10 месяцев назад
@ConstantChaos1 I've been one to very carefully trap and release a bee, wasp, etc outside. I'll use a cup and a piece of paper. I'll wait for it to land on a flat surface, and slowly place the cup over it, then slide the paper under, and carefully carry it outside and let it go!

So many genetics. My new favourite snake discovery video. I have 4 cornsnakes and your videos convinced us to buy our first corn. My daughter found your videos on RU-vid. We have a normal, an amel, a blood red and another normal who is the baby of the normal and amel. Thank you for making videos. I've just become a patreon member too.❤

I'm so glad you discovered them then, I never understood fear or aggression towards animals but I understand an accept that it's perfectly normal, I just love to see people come to see the beauty in life (sorry I'm a bit of a hippy being a pagan and all, specifically I'm a druid (among other traditions) but I'm sure anyone with a knowledge of pagan faiths would guess that with the whole connection to nature part)

Thanks for saving the wasp! I know they are kinda scary and their sting hurts but they are big helpers and they aren't the supervillains they're painted as! She didn't want to hurt you she just got somewhere she wasn't supposed to be. Also corn snakes are so, so pretty! I wish there were tiny snakes for small space living folks like me who don't have room for a proper setup. XD But that's okay I have my lil guys and buggos and my one big tank with the dart frogs (and my things I shoved in a closet to have space for even that, cough, priorities).

I love the stripey ones. I'm normally not into corn morphs, but moonstone did make some beautiful bbs. Also my fave thing is the random person in the parking lot as Emily's throwing out the wasp. The egg theme was cereal, i.e. the colored dots were fruity pebbles, the square ish one with lines cinnamon toast crunch. And ok but like...A snek playground sounds so cute.
