Satisfying? More like depressing. I will never get as good as this at this game. I've only now begun to properly play it after twenty odd years since I borrowed it off a friend for a the Saturn back in the day (shocking that I didn't own it myself, I know). Only got the analogue pad two days ago. That said I'm getting going a bit. Yesterday was my first day playing it properly, and I managed to get overall A's on Spring Valley and Frozen Bell, plus B's on Soft Museum (after two runs), Mystic Forest and Splash Garden. I haven't even attempted Stick Canyon yet. I know I'm going to love it. The thing that's slightly messing me up, aside from videos like this that show just how novice I am, is the boss randomiser. I know it adds challenge and an unpredictable side to the game, but it's so annoying when you're heading for A's on say, Splash Garden, and you then for some reason end up fighting Clawz instead of Puffy, who is obviously a bit trickier. I'm going to smash it though. As I said, haven't even attempted Stick Canyon or Wizeman stages yet. I'm determined to hone my skills before I do so, as the old school feeling of beating your scores just never gets boring for me. I'm way, way off this standard though!
Me too, my heart was racing at that point. The crazy thing is this still would've been a million score, had I ran out of time at the end and got 0 points for mare 4.
I literally just noticed that the time bonus also counts down from your time as Claris/Elliot in the beginning. Most console games barely have a fraction of this much complexity when it comes to their scoring systems.
Hi! I have a question, if you don’t mind. What is the best way to get a lot of points from the trick ribbons? I remember having to simply mash the L and R buttons while against a wall in the Steam version, but when I recently played the game on the Saturn, doing that just seemed to cancel the trick ribbon altogether. I’m wondering if there’s some intricacy that I’m just not understanding.
If you press both buttons at almost the same time you'll air brake and cancel it, you have to alternate one than the other without air braking, it's just a timing you have to get used to
Ah...Yeah screw getting an A rank now /j. This is now the 2nd time I watch this whilst just chattering abt this game to a good friendo sobs. I constantly am too late for the counters and get stuck on C ranks LMAO I respect the hell outta people being so good at this game w/ such floaty controls.
