MZ0JZE G3TXQ Hexbeam in 100km winds 

Super grateful you posted this little clip as I've been keen on this hex beam for a bit. While it doesn't snow here in, Auckland city, New Zealand having a robust built quality is important to me. I live at the top of a ridge and sometimes through the winter we see up to 80 knot winds here. Because of building constraints in the city I will have to build my tower right next to my bedroom window and always wondered if a Hex Beam would howl and whistle keeping me up all night, something like being down on a marina in a howling gale, yachts screaming and whistling through lines, the tapping of halyard lines would drive me crazy. From your video it didn't sound to bad in what looked like 35 maybe gusting 40 kts. Regards and 73's ZL1KJT

Such a huge pro for this antenna

Very nice Paul! I put mine up last week but haven't put the struts on yet although I do have them. First HF contact was South Africa at 5800 miles from IO91! Barefoot FT891 @50W. Amazing antenna :) John 2E0SVB

amazingly stable structure

... this is similar to my experience with wire antennas... a 135' EFHW antenna. Here in Mexico we had a Category 2 hurricane. Roof tiles went a flying, trees blew down, plenty of wind and rain.... power out for 2 days. My EFHW antenna was completely unaffected. Fired it up during the storm. My modest little station, a Xeigu G90 and a small 60 watt amp, is completely solar powered. With a wire antenna there isn't much for the wind to blow on

A big compromise beam with not much gain but a lot of bands is a plus so it beats a wire or a vertical.

Mine is up on a 56 ft tower and it definately moves more than that in 100km/h winds. The real problem would be 100km/h winds with the hex covered in ice. Hoping not to have that happen, ever.
