N-Ext RGS + D-thatch Application, Spring Lawns In My Area

Fert Dance Friday! Today I applied N-Ext RGS and D-Thatch to the lawn for some very specific reasons that I won't comment on here, you'll just have to watch. The lawn is filling in, especially given the slow spring start we are having. Looking around the neighborhood and community, lawns are thin, trying to fill, but are covered with weeds and unwanted grasses. Given the general state of the grass around me, I am pleased with the progress being made. App rates were 9 ounces of D-Thatch per 1000 and 6 ounces of RGS per 1000 applied through the good ol' Ortho Sprayer at the 8 ounces dial setting.

These products are unreal. I've barely had to fertilize so far this season. I've only used RGS, Humic12, and Air8 and my yard has never been so thick. The price point is perfect too which makes these even better. Thank you John!

Question about dethatch....let's say someone goes on vacation and the grass gets longer than normal. Comes back, mows it and mulches the clippings. But there are some clumps, maybe a good enough amount that the person says "I probably should have bagged...." Would dethatch be a decent remedy to help break down those mulched clippings? Follow up question....is dethatch good to help break down mulched clippings in general?

You mentioned that you cut the grass way short - 1.25 inches. Is this something you would recommend doing for the first mow of the year? John, been following your progress this year and am preparing another order for doing my yard and customer yards as well. Question about foliar uptake; is there any advantage to leaving RGS (or other products) on the plant instead of watering them down into the soil. I ask this because on the customer yards, if I spray N-ext products, it wont necessarily be watered in by the customers. So I need to be careful in my applications of certain products. Im working an order right now of RGS, Air-8, Micro-G Flora G, and Dethatch. 50 gallons total. I already have the 7-0-0 and 18-0-1 on hand. (West Texas Bermuda and St Aug). Looking forward to your upcoming vids on the flora green. I want to start getting the fert on shrubs, trees, and the garden areas...so that info will be much appreciated! Have a great weekend!
@Lawncology
@Lawncology 5 лет назад
rbljackson you don’t need to water in, I like it with the carbon products just to get it going faster. There’s no problem with it sitting a little while longer. Humic is not available through foliage, the RGS will partially foliarly absorb. Don’t worry much about the watering in

@Lawncology
@Lawncology 5 лет назад
Garrett Scott it works best in heat. If you apply in late May, June or July, you’ll see major reductions in dead grass litter. Right now I’m trying to trick the environment and it may or may not pan out. 24 hours after the vid was posted, the lawn has a darker shade. The sun was on it all day yesterday despite the cold, so this week will be a great growth push.

Garrett Scott ah! It’s something I’d been curious about. And literally this “spring” has just been extended winter. I was looking at a picture from two years ago exactly and we had more snow that year, almost 465”, (about 100” More than this year) the trees were green already, and most of the snow was melted past midway (8500’) on the mountains. I think we will have snow patches visible through September this year.

Ok when you bought your last gross of mascara to color the gray out of your beard you got the wrong color. Maybe your wife would do a better job picking colors. Is it ok to let products dry up in and all over your sprayer. Will that help the magic water work? Looks like some goats got in to your yard and ate most of it. Not a fair comparison. You don't know if the other yards have had any treatment. You do love to talk about you.

Interested to see what the D-thatch does in the cooler weather. Soil lives, like the body. Put something in to alter the metabolism, especially outside of its prescription, and it could be a good thing. At least you will be able to learn something. Hey. I’ve been using RGS since last fall and started bio pack this spring. I applied 18-0-1 and after 4 weeks applied RGS and de -thatch as you suggested in the video. Week after I’ve noticed that many grass blades started to turn brown from the root about half way and some turned all brown. I can also see some yellowing. Would de-thatch cause this in any way? I highly doubt it but figured I’d ask. If not what do you think the problem might be. I only see that color change in full sun part of the lawn. Could it be not enough water? Thanks bro.

My experience with RGS + Humic-12 is fantastic, these help maximize the nutrient uptake. On the lawn, I pounded it with lime to raise the PH and deprive it of weeds, did a foliar of Fish Fertilizer (amino acid/trace minerals) very early and followed up with RGS + Humic + a synthetic 20-8-10 blend at a rate of 1-lb of N. OMG it turned a very deep green in about a week and was noticeably darker than any other property around town, even going into drought conditions. (Also applied Prodiamine + Lawn Weed Killer as needed).. I also used the RGS-Humic products on my vegetable garden, very impressive compared to plants that had very little fertilizer inputs... I read some comments stating NEXT made his lawn look sick, it was obvious this guy was over feeding expecting a miracle (lol).
