Bro i was just asking this question on the group's on Facebook lol. Then i came across your channel! I'm going to buy one of these cheap $300 eccentric shafts and give it a whirl! I've been living with my valvetronic motor tripping since 2018

also consider doing the motor at the same time as the shaft because they will have reciprocating wear areas... good luck, i watched your previous videos on the subject and they are good..

you should replace the needle roller bearings and their shells also, they are not expensive but will definitely have wear in particular areas that will cause premature failure of the system. trust me ive done a few of these

Are you saying the shaft doesn’t need to be replaced if you replace the needle and rod bearings, or will the shaft need to be replaced eventually anyway?

It’s possible, however it could be due to oil change intervals as well. I picked up my car at 125k miles and the Valvetronics was already disabled at that time. So I’m not sure.

You will definitely fell more butt power after that swap.. The eccentric rotating more freely will cause faster rotating and a more light camshaft that equals more air(Everything that is more light equals more power...). After that repair on mine, and changing the DME that fried because the eccentric errors..

Definitely needed new shaft. I had tried multiple actuators.

doing the same thing right now using your guide, but before I proceed with my wrenching. does the eccentric shaft have to be in a certain position before removal and also during installation?

The BMW service directions advise to rotate the eccentric shaft to the minimum stroke position.

I find a eccentric shaft on aliexpress for 185$ and it saying 2 years warranty, but i want to ask do i have to program the new valvetronic or is just plug and play ?!

After you install the new essentric shaft you will need to run a Valvetronic relearn procedure through Ista.

@@JohnsonMotorsports thank you for answering i see on bimmerpost that after install you can switch ignition on and within a space of 15 sec depress the accelerator pedal down to full throttle 10 times and then valvetronic motor wil start programming itself !!!! Is that true or i need a pc program to do the insta.?! Thanky you for replying

The main code is was getting was: 135704 - Valvetronic system: Warning threshold value, feedback control deviation exceeded.

I wonder if this issue is common in all early model F10 535i. I have 2012 model at 135k miles and mine is completely stock. Been wondering if my valvetronics and shaft will need replacement eventually

I’m honestly not sure. I would think If you stay on top on making sure the worm gear is lubed properly the essentric shaft would be good.

I have an 2011 e90 n55. Valvetronic motor went out at 106k miles. How many miles did you have on your engine when it started skipping teeth?

Man, I’m really not sure. I purchased my car at 125k miles and the Valvetronics was deactivated.

@@JohnsonMotorsports ok thanks. I've got a 140k on mine now. Just did rod bearings, oil pickup, water pump, thermo, coolant hoses, wheel bearings. Going to see if I can get to 200k. Keep up the videos!

Yeah, I will double check that. I know when I got the car at 125k miles. I pulled both Vanos solenoids and cleaned them thoroughly. Car ran smoother after that.

@@JohnsonMotorsports i have an issue but with no codes in dme the rpm is 650 so normal but my car shaking at idle. But when i read livedata i see cyl 1 2 3 4 5 6 missfire only 1x 2x per cylinder. I think this is the eccentric shaft. Sorry for my english. Car 2011 bmw e92 n55

I have an 12.5” Android Headunit that I installed a few years ago. Typically run my MHD gauges on the Headunit.

what problems were you chasing by the way? i have alot of problems in the ~2500rpm range where i get misfires and sometimes the car will shut off after not being able to recover from them. i get valvetronic codes sometimes after it starts back up but not every time.@@JohnsonMotorsports

My X3 N55 2011 have the doom fault code , 101F01, air mass plausibility fault. No leak found after smoking the engine, EVAP procedure (15mn idle with purge valve disconnected) done several times, I have rough idle as well. When I disconnect eccentric shaft motor on the top, idle is perfect, the car run perfect. I think of replacing eccentric shaft and the motor but still don"t see the relation between this eccentric and the fault code 101F01. There is no eccentric fault code stored in DME, I have reset valvetronic adaptation and run the 450 cycles several times, no luck. Oh one precision: The 101F01 does not show up when I disconnect eccentric motor connector. When I disconnect purge valve as well.

Hey Smile. I have exact the same car as you do, and also the exact problem you are having! While you are having the 101F01 error, are you experiencing any rough idle? I do have rough idle issue and misfire on cylinder 2...

I think when valvetronic motor is disconnected, the eccentric shaft will stay at its maximum lift thus more air will be allowed into the combustion chamber, and reduced pressure in intake manifold. Idle at this point is controlled by throttle body I believe. In such a case, both rough idle and 101F01 error are worked around. My car is able to adapt and smooth out with valvetronic motor connected once the following error message shows up: 133710 - Valvetronic, Eccentric Shaft Adaption Lower Stop Attained. However, if I clear fault code or reset adaptation, the rough idle and 101F01 comes back. I think valvetronic and eccentric shaft somehow still play a roll in our issues.
