Great video. 2 grand and you have got another 40ish kw over a factory xr6 turbo. Once you have got the turbo on, you can always upgrade the gearbox, buy an lsd from a wrecked turbo etc
i did my conversion earlier this year... the intercooler kit i used is 3 times the price on ebay now compared to when i bought it its ridiculous. Can confirm of the fg map sensor works sweet :)
Sweet! Yeah I can imagine as stocks get low and demand increases prices will go up. Cheers for the feedback, Hopefully that helps a few good folk with their conversions 🍻
Yeah mate it helped me heaps. I even filmed a little of mine, I went cheap Ebay conversion haha cost 1700 before tune.. just in case people wanted to try the cheap riskier route :p
I’m Holden fan but love the Barra turbos I’m hopping I can pick up a na fg tomorrow and build it ... nothing better then building something and having work smiko
Fkn hell...this blokes a dead set unicorn mate....a true blue aye......no shit no flash just here it is amd fk off.....pleasure to see they still exist in the wild
Mate, that was the most humble realistic and true story upload brother, most just talk it up and spend to much of the banks or mums money lol, I was very impressed by your down to earth attitude, bloody fantastic, people like myself who also work with a budget appreciate it. 🤘👍👍hope all is well brother keep up the good work 😉+ you got my subscription to your channel
@@davidodisho3683 hi mate did you use stock na ecu then? I have just bought a bf mk2 fairmont ghia as well and looking to run low boost and power. Want to keep it quiet as well as it's so smooth and quiet as is now.
With all the butcher work on XR6T's this is a great option. This exact question has been on my mind for a long time. Thanks a lot for making the effort to do the video. I really dig you did a practical build.
First time viewer. I’m sold on you mate, love what your about. Just fair dinkum no horse shit, thanks. Also some great words of advice at the end “be good to your mates”. Just subscribed and shared 👍
Thanks mate u have answered all my questions. I picked up a mint 2004 ba xr6. I don't have 2 fix anything. I paid 3800 dollars. It's like a brand new car. I'm so stoked
Good video. Thanks mate as soon as I get the funds will be converting my toxic green na BA falcon. Thanks for advice chap. Love from the almighty New Zealand
Great run down on costing mate i can rember it cost my 10 grand to put a V8 in my holden Gemini back in the 80s but i was chasing 1000bhp (and got it plus little more lol) still you got a great deal mate. Have a great day Choppersrule1
Nice video, the biggest reason I have avoided turboing any of my na fords is I find a well maintained and serviced na BF Barra has got so much grunt and reliability I wouldnt want to compromise the reliability or fuel economy for a little more grunt. I see Scotty Van Strien turboed his BF ZF6 XR6 and immediately had issues with the ZF6HP26 standard trans flaring under boost, which could have been a service issue but who knows. I assume you have the BT4 trans in the ute. I find the BT4 an excellent trans, very robust and easy to maintain. I recently bought a dirty old 2007 BF RTV ute for $2600 as a project, I may just have some fun and turbo that. Since it will be an engine out resto I think it will be a good candidate.
Just worked out exactly what I need to do my conversion. And I have been up all night on the piss. I got the original turbo the ba come out with. And I have worked out every single turbo piping. Got the turbo kit for 500 dollars new. Fuckin ebay are good for good cheap parts
The na motor can make 350rwkw anyway. The Fg na motor is even capable of over 450rwkw on e85 with some people even getting 500rwkw from the na fg motor. Not bad for $100 motor.
Falcon turbo conversations, has became a license to print money, so be careful when buying one of these without the full history. Lots of rush jobs out there put together with cheap ebay parts.
Hey bud, epic work on a budget ! I've just found your channel and yet to watch the fall story but how do you go with NA compression @ 10.3:1 vs turbo @ 8.8:1 ? Or is 7 psi ok ? Or just run with e85 and turn the wick up 😉💪👍
Hey mate great vid. Doing a late 05 bft that had its running gear extracted for another build. It had zf box. Any tips on how you would repower this so i can move it on. Cheers
Broad question man. All depends on what's still there like ecu and harnesses etc. N/A engine and box combos are still pretty cheap but if the thing has been picked out, may be easier and cheaper to buy a wreck and swap it all over.. 🤷🏻♂️
bit late to the party, was curious as to where you got your factory turbo parts manifold/intake etc were they sourced locally or on tradesite (ebay, fb marketplace) cheers mate
I dont agree with your assumption on the price of a Factory Turbo car, my one as it currently sits running/driving/regoed i'd be lucky to get $1500 for it 😔. That said i did end up selling my R32 GTR back in 2014'ish for $6000 to get myself into some Barra action which looking back i should have kept due to the ridiculous price they are going for nowadays 😭
Hey mate how ya doin? I like ur build I just brought an xr6 turbo but I don’t wanna kill it I wanna keep all the numbers matching and everything original so this ones being put away... I had 2 vl turbos when I was a young buck wish I would have kept one I’m not making that mistake again... I wanna do a build on a street thrasher but I wanna know if it’s possible to use a green top and still retain the lpg as fuel? Tia
Spewing was going to convert my bf xr6 over next few weeks and was told was a waste of time and my standed barra na motor wouldn't last I'm guessing this is wrong 🤣??
Mate I don’t know. I’ve heard yes and I’ve heard no. Someone might pipe in with the answer to that. I do know the n/a head is the business with a decent set of valve springs if you’re playing with extra boost.
@@oldskoolonly Sounds good, it's been a pleasure watching your series, because you explain everything clearly, and in a way which is interesting. You're videos have inspired me to start collecting parts for my BA NA (just bought the turbo manifold today) Little bit more expensive here in NZ to get the conversion parts (will have to do one part per paycheck), but still cheaper by far than going out and buying a factory turbo car. Only thing I am thinking of doing differently is starting with turbo side intake and tune, or would you say it's possibly pushing it to far?
@@oldskoolonly how many kms on your car? i currently have a BF with a zf6 in it with 300,000km on it.. im thinking of slowy collecting everything over time an then buying an ex taxi fg taxi an slapping it on that!
@@oldskoolonly thanks alot mate! the bloke you used for your tuning.. was i presume.. euro prestige ? they are now out at vineyard. ive now got everything i need basically. besides from time to put it all together!! have you got a link to the intercooler you used
