We did some filming of the Nacra 17 medal race at Sail Melbourne and the conditions were pretty hard for all competitors and we would like to say that the handling of all of the boats by there crews were exceptional and the crowd was definitely impressed (and excited due to the capsizes and close calls). It was blowing about 25 knots gusting higher in very squally and blustery conditions. We were filming from the balcony on Sandringham Yacht Club and the crowd was heavily engaged in the racing. Sorry we couldn't get out on the water, and the filming isn't as smooth as we would like due to not having a tripod, Ben had to get very creative and lie on the ground and use the floor of the balcony as a makeshift tripod. Sail Melbourne was a huge success for all and congratulations to Yachting Victoria and Sandringham Yacht Club for such a fantastic event. Congratulations to all those who competed and thank you to all of the volunteers and especially the race committees.
Filmed using a Canon 7d with a Tamron 18-270mm lens.
