Nae, how is life? // new career path, losing passion, mental health 

As someone who also is 22 and I totally understand what you were saying about summer and the weird anxiety and social pressure that comes with it. I come back to my la (my hometown) every summer and winter. summers are my longest periods here in la. So I try to take advantage of that and meet with my friends and go out since I don’t do much of that in my college town. But it does start to slowly affect me if I don’t take breaks from socializing. I saw this creative drawing on Instagram that had a caption about how summer comes with lots of different expectations about how we should feel, things we should do etc but most times it plays out in its own way and usually it’s out of our control. I think surrendering and letting go will allow for a more enjoyable time.

Oh it’s so relieving to hear other people our age have this creative burnout too! A few years ago I dreamt of being a succesfull musician next too my psychology degree. I loved writing songs, and doing that felt so easy. Since a year or so, I suddenly stopped writing and creating musically: nothing came to me anymore. Past year I have struggled so much with this ‘loss’ of my talent. Being surrounded by people that don’t fully understand that loss, and just say ‘just keep going’, makes this hard for me as well… I settled my hopes on it coming back at some point, and taking my rest. But I’m afraid if I settle too much on this, there never comes a point that i’ll pick it up again :’) At this point I just feel slightly paralysed by it… Love to hear other people’s experiences on this!

Landscape architect here! First of all, I hope you get into the degree, it is a good start to get into this design discipline. I am sure that the broad spectrum of topics a landscape architect can deal with will bring out your enthusiasm. And of course I am quite happy to hear you are down for learning all the scientific names of plants, that’s what I call true motivation. I wish that if you enter you are able to experience the enriching of the experience of daily life, it’s as if you acquired a new pair of glasses really, you begin to notice new signs and aspects that before seemed so trivial. Fingers crossed nae!! 🤞 I'm 24 and got my B.A a year ago. I feel like I'm not sure yet where is it that I want to go. I loved studying my field and had a great experience but honestly I don't see myself working in that field right now. So I'm kind of in a transition period, trying some new things out! i moved to berlin almost 2 years ago and before that i always saw those aesthetic "summer in berlin" reels and tiktoks but since i lived here, i barely made any friends and i'm alone most of the time and while i enjoy my time alone in the park, it always feels like i'm missing out on life. last year i had a lot of expectations for the summer but this year i completely gave up and didn't have any expectations at all and tbh it makes this summer a lot easier, but i still do cry occasionally about it

I am so happy to learn about this very good space you are currently in, Nae! You are creating your best life. The best thing is, you've got freedom. If you choose something that doesn't work out the way you intended, you can try something else. You idea of studying landscaping and design is fabulous! It seems to light you up inside. At first I was saddened by the thumbnail as it said “quitting RU-vid to go to university?” But I’m very happy for whatever life path you take. I too have been stuck in this sort of weird limbo for the past 2 years but I’m finally deciding to just jump in there and see what I like/dislike and what methods work for me in terms of finding a career. I also relate to the restlessness people feel in the early 20s. It’s such a sucky feeling because it seems as though everyone around you had it together except you, but it’s a very common feeling. I’ve learned to just go with what brings me joy and accomplish in the present moment and see where that journey takes me. I hope things go well for you in school. This sounds super exciting 🎉🎉💗

thanks for this vid! i definitely feel you on this one. I think its scary for me to let go of what has always been my “identity” in terms of creative pursuits/artist/ dancer. Learning to take my time and not force it. & to accept the fact that i am journeying through the valleys right now. To gain strength to climb the next mountain. I hope i will keep going and find new meanings when i go back to my artist mode.

Hey nae. Ich schlage dir vor, dich auf den Webseiten der Universitäten nach dem Modulplan und Modulhandbuch auszuschauen. Das ist meistens auch da wo die Prüfungsordnung ist. Das sind sehr wichtige Dokumente. Da steht der Verlauf des Studiums festgeschrieben und auch was in welchem Modul genau gemacht wird. Da würde ich dir nochmal raten genauer hinzuschauen. Auch, ich hoffe es wird dich nicht abschrecken aber du wirst wahrscheinlich auch einiges an Mathe und Technik machen müssen. Aber da bin ich mir sicher, dass du das packen wirst :)
